I forgot about. Constance Demby... Very transcendent and soothing music to explore Skyrim.

I'm thinking Coldplay or Muse would go nicely with this game. They have that abstract and yet very peaceful (or warlike) attitude in their music.
The song "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHg-PhseKOQ" forever reminds me of wandering in the wilderness of Baldur's Gate, fighting spiders and ettercaps.

Starts off chill and haunting and ends disturbingly

I will just recommend the album "Queen II"

Good source for that: http://www.youtube.com/user/RandyAnders/videos?sort=da&view=u
Haha, I have all the stuff they recorded on my iPhone  Thanks though.

ES Posthumus

If you haven't heard of them, check youtube.

That would be cool, it would have to be the Makara album, totally epic. if not them anything Hans Zimmer, Gladiator would be epic.

EDIT: Harry Gregson-Williams Kingdom of Heaven. BOOM!

For epicness it would have to be S&M by Metallica.

Or for general playing

What is S&M by Metaliica? All I'm seeing is it's some instrumental album conducted by the guy who did the Highlander score.

I'm not familiar with Metallica from the late 90s on.

I find playing Locc 2 Tha Brain during dungeon raiding to be very entertaining. I actually get scared dungeon raiding when I'm home alone, so the displaced music amuses me and makes my fear go away.

The in-game music is very good and doesn't deserve to be replaced.

If you must go with something else: Steve Roach & Max Corbacho. The masters behind the atmospheric music of Neocron.

Skyrim freedom with Neocron style and play: one can dream.

While playing Morrowind and Oblivion, I listened to a random mix of those two soundtracks, along with the music from Gladiator, Pirates of the Carribian (all 3), LotR (all 3), Conan the Barbarian, Prince of Persia and How to Train Your Dragon. Sometimes I throw in Daggerfall and some Mike Oldfield pieces. Skyrim's music is so fantastic tho, I'll be happy just listening to the games own tracks for several months. :)

Well I made this song with Skyrim in mind. Hence the title. So I listen to this and a couple more Skyrim themed songs I'm making while playing. Check it out. http://soundcloud.com/achillessmile/achillessmile-eveningstar

Exploration: The Mystic's Dream by Loreena McKennitt, James Horner's Braveheart soundtrack, Howard Shore's LOTR trilogy soundtrack, John Debney's Passion of the Christ soundtrack (great music for a crap movie).

Battle: Bulletproof by FFDP, O Fortuna (just to be cliché).

Obviously Bathory, good old viking metal. There is no better way to play than as a nord barbarian, listening to Nordland albums in an epic battle with your bloodbrothers on your side.
