Bethesda bought DOOM ?

I think they will, I'm just imagining Doom more like Fallout 3, instead that turd Ravensoft craqed out for Doom (RoE, Epic Fail)

Id is still the developer up Doom 4, they're just part of Zenimax now.

Doom 2 is the commercial version of doom 1, and seeing how they don't want to rip off the people who bought the original doom, they made more levels and more enemies, and the one new weapon.

Uh... really?

That's odd. Doom 2 was a new game with some additions. And improvements to the game's code.
But more levels? Uh, no, they were all brand new levels.
More levels implies it's an add-on to the original doom.
Like the 4th episode was in The Ultimate Doom.

Are you sure the shareware was sold in stores? Because I'm mostly certain it's illegal to sell things that are free to download. Without proper Permission. Plus, making people pay for something that's not the full version is kind of mean.
And Doom's shareware was free to download, because it was uploaded by the people who made Doom, to an FTP!

Zenimax is the parent company for Bethesda Softworks and id Software. Bethesda Softworks publishes titles by Bethesda Game Games Studios, new titles by id Software (like DOOM II XBLA and RAGE), as well as certain titles from 3rd party developers -- for instance we're publishing Fallout: New Vegas (Obsidian), Brink (Splash Damage), and Hunted: The Demon's Forge (inXile Entertainment)

Bethseda & Doom----Hmmmm....I'm seeing a game where you play as a Marine shooting the demons on Mars and have openworld like Oblivion and Fallout. Think about it, there you are on Mars walking around on it's surface looking up to see the two moons and the sun rising just over the horizon while carring a BFG 9000, or Super Shotgun---or the Laser Weapon from Doom 64.

So Zenimax is like 2K for Rockstar games???

Zenimax owns Bethesda & Bethesda publishes games for other developers?? Shouldn't that be Zenimax's job? Really weird set-up.

Bethesda has two branches, Bethesda Softworks (a publisher) and Bethesda Game Studios (a developer). BSW publishes games developed by BGS along with a number of other games, including at least some games developed by Bethesda's sister companies.

If there's a Quake 5 presumably it would be made with id tech 5 and therefore be published by Bethesda - so it would get a section here. I don't see something like this happening in the near future however, it looks like id's next big project is Doom 4 and I haven't heard any rumors of Quake being licensed out again.

It's possible that something similar to the XBox Live version of Doom II will give them an excuse to put up a Quake section even if a major title isn't on the horizon.

My dream through them buying ID Software is letting Beth take the lead. Imagine an open ended DOOM on Mars or even parts of HELL itself.................

I remember buying shareware disc in stores. They were really cheap though and contained lot's of them. Very handy considering I didn't have internet before 1997.

And even then it was more expensive to download it than to buy such a shareware disc.

Back than internet was charged per minute, like making a phone call. Which it was. And very slow, like 3mb per hour lol.
