Bethesda, I'm embarrassed to have stuck up for you!

It's not actually as complex as you are making it out to be. They keep it pretty simple by compartmentalizing a lot of the content.

I'm sorry but I refuse to accept that any part of this game's development was 'simple'. I know my original post is essentially a complaint but I'm still realistic- Skyrim is HUGE, it's budget was HUGE and with huge budget comes huge talent, the kind of talent that doesn't sit around wasting development time. I am confident Beth did all they could, it just wasn't quite enough to test everything. Hell, I wonder how many playthroughs one would have to do to experience everything in Skyrim?

Get a life OP, 200 hours? what do you do? wake up at your mom's basemant and play this game all day and night.

I bought this game on release, I have less then 20 hours down. I haven't seen a single bug yet!

You have got more value out of this game then 10 other games released by any other company. Your complaining because their is a bug that made dragons fly backwards? LOL i would LOVE to see that. Sorry but immersion is a joke, it's a video game this isn't real life. Enjoy your game, gamesas isn't obligated to please everyone who has no life, sadly you guys are the minority. The majority that spend their money on this game aren't going to play it over 60 hours and move on to the next game. You should be apologizing and thanking them for this wonderful game that has given you 200 flipping hours of playtime. You realize that if you worked for 200 hours you could of grossed 1600 dollars at mcdonalds???

Personally I think you should send gamesas more money!

This game has waaaaay more hours of play, and waaaay more options then 90% of the games that are made. ALL of gamesas games have bugs, because of the size they are. Just like someone said earlier no one can play test and go over what a million different people are going to do. It's impossible. Be glad they are still patching this wonderful game. Most companies don't give a rats and just move on to their next game.

I actually work damn hard thank you Sherriff, and I play Skyrim on my own flatscreen in my own home to relax. Ok?

Posts like this make me glad that I decided to just not buy or play this game until sometime next year. Hopefully it will get patched up and work great. If not, at least I won't have wasted money on it or been frustrated by all the bugs.

I must always get lucky with Bethesda games, because I never get any glitches besides 2 or 3 minor ones. It happened with New Vegas too, everyone was complaining about it being broken upon release and I had no problems at all.

A week later and still nothing (I'm on 360).

I love what you've created, Bethesda, but please do your creation justice!
two responses
1. you only gave them a week- its going to take months. be more patient.
2. they thought the game worked. they are trying to fix it.

i shouldnt even be responding to topics like this because i havent had any problems either
and yes i remember all the complaints about new vegas, but it worked better for me than fallout 3 did (which got me worried about bethesda)

I agree with you and Boss, here. I have problems and complaints with the game, but it's still working how I would expect, and I'm enjoying it just fine. There's not a single game I recall being released where the forums weren't this bad about complaints. And what people don't realize is that this forum is a minority of players. They's sold well over a million units, and it's safe to say based on ratings and other reviews most of those people had a good experience.

So your line is seeing a backwards flying dragon. L O L

If you're going to be dramatic to the point where it's embarrassing to read your post at least pick one of the serious bugs to cry about.

Some of the game is downright sloppy. Even minor things, like investment dialogue, is broken for characters like the Blacksmith in Markath (only allows the player to reconsider) and Goods Merchant in Windhelm (the player can invest infinitely with no benefit). Then you have a certain quest to clear a mine and once it's cleared, the monsters respawn, and the quest-giver gives the reward twice. Talk about deja vu. Then there's a certain quest at the Bard's College which allows the player to compose a verse, and yet when it comes time for the recital I was given a completely different version than what I selected.

(being vague to avoid spoilers)

Just ignore the trolls catering to the tired stereotypes.

That what my nursing, insurance, and banking friends that game do. 128 hours here, and plenty of real life as well. :foodndrink:

Sorry to hear about your problems. I only had the intermittent dual core freeze outside and 1.3 took care of that. It's been working very nicely. Of course, I don't consider myself a 'Bethesda defender'. If I think a complaint is stupid or unreasonable, I'm happy to mock that person but bugs are almost guaranteed in any program, especially one as big as this. You can accept it, or not. It's really your choice.

I can not complain about my Skyrim time, sure i get dropped to desk top on occasion. Sure the followers do not level. Sure there are bugs that i have not experienced yet (PC player no mods). Here comes the but and it is a big one.

BUT

The game is absolutely beautyful. The environment is almost completely customizable. The rich character development. The ability to complete quests differently. The improvements on the quest tracking over Oblivion are note worthy. In the end these minor problems are just that really when one considers the level of detail that went into the world, and character customization IMHO are worth the occasional bug. For me the choice is World of Warcraft perfection, WoW cookie cutter character development, WoW linear quest design, WoW world that has not had a graphic upgrade since well ever, including Cataclysm, or I get Skyrim with a few bugs, for me the choice is a no brainer Skyrim all the way.

This does not let Bethesda off the hook to fix what it can all the while needing to minimize the fixes to avoid breaking what is not broken. See that is the rub how does one provide complexity and player choice, yet ensure a stable experience on a budget, still getting the experience released before we are all dust or droolers in our full Depends. Bethesda i am sure did not decide to make a game with bugs, it is the unintentional consequence of the complexity of the game, for me it is part of the charm. I get complexity which is brilliant but i get a few bugs which are not when it is all weighed and considered i will take the complexity and the bugs rather than lose the complexity and the bugs.

"it is what it is" and yet ... you got 200 hours out of it, that's more than most other games I've played.

I see your points, but I'm giving Bethesda lots of room here to make improvements. I'm still enjoying the game even with all the bugs.

"it is what it is" ... for now.

Bethesda's QA department has never been stellar anyways. Many bugs both in Oblivion and Skyrim were just left unattented and you had to install huge unofficial patches for both, and Skyrim seems no different. No huge game-breaking stuff, but plenty of minor instances and you can certainly blame most of them on that [censored] Gamebryo Bethesda insists on keeping for who knows what reasons. Oh, and it's kinda obvious nobody properly playtested the skill system and level scaling, half of the perks being downright useless and all, not to mention entire skills being just bad. Also, NPC mages that have 700 HP and whose spells scale, contrarily to the player's? Who designed that stuff?

New Vegas gets a lot of flak, but Obsidian actually had constant support for this game until the majority of bugs were ironed out.

I love the game, but finding a bugged dragon really irked me. I couldn't kill it or get rid of it and it was floating permanently above the landscape visible for miles until by luck I found a quest to kill that one specifically which reset and fixed it. I can play normally again now that the bad distraction is gone. But yeah, something like is like a scratch on an old vinyl record and really jarring during play.
