Bethesda - Todd Howards sizzle reel should be your DLC

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 11:28 pm

why dont they release it as mod content then...

Bethesda usually stays out of the modding scene, probably because they don't want to alienate their console fanbase.

i really hate Bethseda rigth now alot of does fectures should be in game allready, one week they say, i say what the hell have the Dev team been going for the last year or so of developement?? :drag:
Probably debugging. It's one thing to make something, it's completely another to make it work the way it's supposed to. Debugging is a time consuming pain in the rear.

Did anyone see Todd Howards sizzle reel showing the stuff like horse combat, werebears and giant mudcrabs?

THAT was awesome.

Todd howard has previously stated DLC will be about making the world more interesting. If all of that was made into DLC, then it would be worth $20-30 easily.

Thanks guys for showing this at DICE!

if the crew from morrowind is gone, todd howard gets my blame.

period.

a weak game with such resources deserves as such.

It would be nice if this was...you know "free" DLC? These look mostly like features that should have been in the game from the beginning

I just want the Verlet surfaces, water shaders, seasonal weather, and SSAO. They're the things that would be hardest to implement ourselves.

I was thinking of a ball and chain but was contemplating a bound lava whip where you can lockup an attacking bandit and deal with his mate who's circled around behind you maybe even add in some overkill ragdolls, throw him into orbit hehe.

why would I pay for this when I can get mods for this, done better and without waiting a month extra to get it and have it updated periodically?

Oh give it a rest, console players pay for convenience and that's what they get.

Believe it or not, some of us (I'd reckon a large number, actually, though I obviously have no evidence to back that up) buy consoles because we don't have thousands of dollars to throw at a machine to play video games. Consoles are afforadable; no upgrading required to keep up with evolving technology.

I'd love to have the new Alienware Auroa, but I don't have the money. That's what sickens me about this PC elitism shenanagins, you all act like we console players have millions of dollars, and just choose not to buy a PC, because we prefer the convience of the console.

Tell me, if I buy a squier bullet strat($100) am I entitled to want and expect the same features and quality as a fender custom shop masterbuilt (masterbuilts go for around $5000)? If I buy an epiphone dot am I reasonable to expect (and ask for) the same features as a gibson 335, even though the gibson is worth around $4000?

the fun part is that all this stuff are features athat are usually present in most other game engines and modern games ( like the underwater distrosion , dynamic texturing , screenspaceambient occlusion , etc) but they are making it pass like a to be paid DLC?

I hpe not couse actually those features shoudl be "Already" in the game , and keeping them out just spoiling ....

You are rather grossly overestimating the cost of a decent gaming computer. I'm about as broke as you can get and I still was able to afford a machine decent enough to play Skyrim on medium settings, which is about the graphics quality console players see when they play if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, if you go for high end run-everything-on-super-mega-ultra settings you're going to shell out more. An Alienware computer is nice but it's not required just to play Skyrim.

you are rigth, we are a lil elitist about my gaming choise and you are allso rigth i have spent thousands of dollars in my case Euros to be hable to play the games i whant with superior graphs and quality infortunely game producers decided to build games for obsolent consoles and decided our investement on a good gaming platform must be punished by the limitations of theyr choises plus the fact that they decided to give a Xbox exclusive for the first 2 DLC's make me sick so ye i'm elitist...

I understand a lot of people cannot afford new PC's, i am one of those people at the moment, Yet i do own a gaming PC and i do keep it up to date. It does not cost thousands, this is normally what the ignorant will tell you.

Most people would say you need to upgrade every 2-3 years, this is not true, my old XP (not my main PC) has not been upgraded since 2007 and can run Skyrim albeit on low-medium settings. People forget also that a Console game is £10-15 cheaper on release so if you're the type of person to buy a lot of games you can use that money in the long term to pay for any upgrades.

OT: That said, if Bethesda has no plans at all to release any of what we saw as DLC, then i would hope they at least stick it up on Steam workshop. Not PC elitism or what ever that bull is, if the company won't release it then surely the devs can release it as a personal mod. Although, i would rather they release some of it as DLC so we ALL can enjoy it together. If that means paying money then so be it. :)

Sad fact, pc's made up 14% of Skyrim sales. Last word was Skyrim made $650 mill, pcs were what $91 million of that? You really think Beth is going to abandon $559 million just so they can reward you for your investment?

I was completely floored by video. I saw so many things I wanted to be in the game when it was first released. I pray they release them at some point either through DLC or for free as Todd hinted could be a possibility for some of them. If they do not choose to release some of them because they think the change doesn't fit their vision of the game, I hope they at least provide some insight to the community on how we could mod those things into the game so we can achive our vision. Pretty pretty please Bethesda! Anyway If I could have my choice here are the things I would want in order from most wanted to least:

Mounted Combat
Spears and more fighting style options (unarmed monk for example)
Set favorites for followers and new commands
Stealth enhancements and guards that can re-light darken areas
Water currents in dungeons
Flow based water shader
Dungeons enhancements lie hanging structures and moving platforms
Verlet surfaces for non-rigid objects
Become a flying vampire lord
Seasonal foilage
Build your own house
Snow footprints
More kill cams
Werebear
Lycanthropy Perk Tree
Dragon mounts

Those are the ones I want to see. The others I'm not so much interested in but wouldn't mind having any of them if they were done.
