Joined freaking companions and became werewolf

I know right, I saved before I did so, and I loaded it later on.

Anyways, I wish I never did the "House of Horrors" quest.

Rushing through the MQ & Civil War... kind of wish now I had taken a more slower approach.

If I am just playing around hunting elk for the first 20 hours of the game staying in Riverwood, will quests be waiting for me already bugged, NPC's dead or missing, etc.?

Or do I actually have to DO something to make these things happen, or enter certain zones for example?

Please advise. Anyone!

Isn't anybody listening to me!??

I did create this topic, and I am the OP, after all, lol. Not that this makes me special.

I just thought someone could've helped me with this question a long time ago!

Most NPCs related to major quests are set as essential, so they can't die. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The only really major thing you should know: If an old mage in the North sends you to fill a cube, and you have to use a machine to do that,
Spoiler
don't grab the item you might find in the machine, unless you have the quest for that too.

That'll break the Main Quest.

I've seen one quest broken by waiting too long so far in about 350 hours of play with 3 different characters. A dog needed for a quest disappeared after I'd avoided him intentionally for 80 hours or so.

I regret reading threads where people decide that the Stormcloaks fighting for their people and homeland is 'racist'.

Not being informed at the beginning of the game about the Stormcloaks and Imperials, and following Hadvar instead of Ralof. Not that I have anything against Hadvar, he was pretty nice given the circumstances, but when following Ralof I got to kill that female Imperial Captain who said "No exceptions. She goes to the block!" when Hadvar pointed out my name was not on the list. Didn't make the same mistake twice, in my second playthrough I stuck with Ralof and killed her and enjoyed it!

Didn't try to kill that [censored] officer who wanted me dead, even though i wasn't on the list.
You do if you go with ralof, she attacks you with 1 imperial.

Bugs creep in once your savegame file gets bloated, ususally between 15 to 25 Megabytes. My problems started at 25Mb, I was lucky. Now I can't complete the Thieves Guild Questlines as I decided to do those later in my game. Problems are missing cells, textures and crashes to desktop.

Biggest regret at start?

Not working hard enough on my character`s face. I kinda rushed it, but since I have a policy of not changing once I start I stuck with it and am used to it now. Don`t get me wrong, he looks fine, just not exactly as I would have him...

In Oblivion and FO3 I`d spend hours designing them before starting and remember being very proud of just how accurate I got my character`s faces.

For me, the character face is the last part of making him ready for a whole of adventuring.

Selling the Ring of Hircine at level 2... :(

I started with my second character travelling to Falkreath after first going into Riverwood.

Oh, and my character has a dumb expression. I wish I'd spend more time on his face.

Mine is not doing the Companion's questline early so I could get rid of the werewolf as fast as possible. Now the questline is stuck and I can't cure it.

I picked up and bought all the charcoal you could find. I figured iron ore and charcoal were needed to make steel. Ah well. Oh, and joining the College being a priority, I rushed to Whiterun, got a carriage to Winterhold, then realised there wasn't a return service. With my no map fast travel rule, it's a good job I like exploring, but had I known, I would have stuck around Whiterun and got a few levels first.

1. Putting skills into block, 1h, heavy armor then realizing that mages are the best
2. Having a name I regret
3. Choosing a dark elf
4. Not spending anytime on my face at all

Probably starting over for the 4th time :brokencomputer:

mispelled my name and didn't notice it until i was already a few hours in. I didn't start over but it bugged me for that entire playthrough.

Open the console.
  • Type showracemenu
  • Don't change anything, just press 'R'
  • Rename your character.
Problem solved.

EDIT: Oops, unless you have XBOX or PS3. Then...

To bad, so sad...

I did the exact same thing! XD
I didn't know you were supposed to keep it cause you wouldn't be able to find another set somewhere else (thieves turn up dead in Riften all the time.)
