Right after leaving Helgen Keep cave, what do you wish you could do over again?

What to have looted / not looted, quests to have started or not started,

People to have killed or not killed...

The order in which you did things being regrettable..

Please share, as I am just now embarking on my 3rd do-over.

I definitely know what you mean.

In Oblivion I always waited until level 30 or so before getting any leveled weapons or armor so that they would always be at max stats.

Not realizing that Hadvar takes pity on you, and will let you power lvl sneak and one handed skills, as a payment for the empire's stupidity.

Not doing Blood on Ice before it bugged out on me, preventing me from doing it at all. In fact not doing a lot of quests "properly" so that they didn't bug out. :/

Please give an example of how you feel blood on the ice could have been done "before" it bugged out on you.

When exactly does the bug take effect? At a certain point?

If I am just playing around hunting elk for the first 20 hours of the game staying in Riverwood, will quests be waiting for me already bugged, NPC's dead or missing, etc.?

Or do I actually have to DO something to make these things happen, or enter certain zones for example?

Please advise. Anyone!

i wonder if joining the legion was bad...obviously the stormcloaks don't like me...not sure if it was a bad choice...but i'm going to play it out...which ever side of the war you are on, they both have benefits and non benefits...i wonder what remaining neutral would be....too late for my dude...my brother 1000 miles away joined the stormcloaks...we just play and see what happens....it is very fun no matter what approach you take

Realizing that asking what somebody wanted me to do equated to me accepting the quest.

I'm not OCD about my quest journal but there's a lot of crap in there I don't have any intention of doing, ever. Would be nice if it didn't clutter up objectives I might actually be interested in.

I am the other way. My quests journal is looking lowly right now and I am starting to look for ways to fill that bad boy up.

More to the topic however, I did not realize that choices mattered even in the beginning (following stormcloak/imperial in the beginning) and not bothering about what people had to say. I am really impatient and just mash A through their comments

Yeah, some quests just don't suit my character at all. She's not a thief (either in temperament or skillset), so having thieves guild quests thrust on her just doesn't do her any good.

FYI, you can still get the option to ...

Spoiler
...go Imperial if you followed Stormcloak at the start. I ran into an Imperial guy (random event, I think) and was pleasant to him so he told me I should join the army. So now I have both options, though am decidedly disinclined to pursue either. :P lol

I regret entering the Skyrim forums..... way too many whiners who've never played a TES game before crying for changes.

But alas, I'm bored at work... so here I am again.

I have no in-game regrets.

Biggest mistake I made was putting perks into freaking Block. Block is such a joke, to me anyway. At high level, I take zero damage. I just DW through mobs and things die fast.

3 perks wasted, but, oh well. That's a lesson learned. ^_^

In my first characters i joined Ulfric, then i saw that he's just a racist as are all of the stormcloacks, and i killed Erandure and Cicero, when i thought about them, it made me sad, so i made a new character and joined legion, helped Erandure, let Cicero live.
And now i'm feeling so much better !
And the legion is the good side(IMO) because :

Spoiler
At the end of the legion quest when you talk to general he tells you that he doesn't like thalmor and he's not sure about the deal they've made with thalmor and that he has started to like the people of skyrim, when he says them all,he tells you that this should remain a secret between you and him .
Also the jarl of whindhelm helps the dark elves and says he has promised them to make their lives easier.
Plus (imo) these rebels can't endure between thalmor and the empire , because they are not as armored as the empire is, so they need the empire .
And Strormcloacks are so full of themselves .

1. That I didn't follow Hadvar immediately to Alvor's house and sit with him at his table.

2. That I picked up any "unusual gem" I saw.

I'm sure there's a few more, can't think of them. :)

Also using some perks on pickpocket.
