DESCRIPTION_____________________________________________________Deep in the bowels of the earth, the Dwemer constructed vast cities of gleaming bronze and chiseled stone. Their networks criss-crossed all of northern Tamriel, stretching from Hammerfell in the west all the way to Morrowind in the east. Rumors of a gleaming steam engine have emerged from the depths of Blackreach, capable of travelling at enormous speeds, and capable of connecting the furthest-flung outposts of the buried Dwemer civilization. Will you be able to unlock its mysteries?Blackreach Railroad is a travel/quest mod for the steam-oriented player. It adds a locomotive, a train line, and a series of train stations around Blackreach and other Dwemer ruins. After a short quest to reactivate the train, the player may then freely ride the engine throughout Blackreach.In addition to this, the player may choose to ride on uncharted track, thereby unlocking new stations throughout Skyrim.And for those wondering, you do indeed get a train hat.FEATURES____________________________________________________-A working, rideable, steam locomotive, complete with a working horn!-A short quest to reactivate the aforementioned engine-Another short quest in which the player may traverse uncharted track to unlock new stations. Along the way they'll fight Falmer, spiders, and one really really big centurion. I'm not kidding, that thing is gigantic.-A new staff that shoots hot steam at people-A train hat, given to you by the ghostly stationmaster-A ghostly stationmaster, to help you drive your trainINSTALLATION_____________________________________________________Just like any other mod you've used, copy the relevant files to your Skyrim/Data folder. You'll notice that the mod has an ESM and an ESP. BOTH MUST BE ACTIVATED FOR THE MOD TO WORK. I recommend that you load Blackreach.esp earlier in your load list, especially after anything that modifies Dwemer dungeons.To begin the quest to reactivate the train itself, head to the Hall of Rumination, down in Blackreach.If you are unable to see certain things, such as the train tunnel, or the train itself, turn up your Object Fade level.TROUBLESHOOTING, COMPATABILITY AND TIPS_____________________________________________________Several mods do in fact conflict or cause problems with Blackreach Railroad. Most lighting mods (such as Realistic Lighting) and ENB mods will screw with the game, making it difficult to see or causing strange lighting-related glitches. Mods that modify dungeons have been known to cause crashes with Blackreach Railroad.If you fall off the train or the train platform, don't worry, the stationmaster has set up several ladders that you may use to climb back on, look for them.Companions may or may not work with the mod, due to the persistent "navmesh bug" they have difficulty traversing the stations, so if you head onto Uncharted Track, you're on your own.Centurion Prime's arena has several crossbow towers placed throughout, which do massive damage. Use them against him if you trouble.On that note, Centurion Prime's ragdoll flips out upon his death. This is expected, but unfortunately unfixable.When the train is held up by Falmer, be aware you cannot open some of the chests in their tents. This is deliberate. I'm guessing you didn't get it voice-acted as there's no credits in the readme - any plans to do this?

At the moment, no. Much like Knots, my VA is MIA.


I see no mention of the being-hit-by-a-train mace. Is it still in there?

Scrapped it, it was... way too overpowered, to say the least.

I loooove Dwemer stuffs! Always had a soft-spot for steampunk, and the train looks amazing! I would definitely want to try this out, sifting through my mods to see if there are possible conflicts though.

About the Realistic lighting conflict, loading this mod after it doesn't help to over-write the lighting changes b RL?

Working on an incompatibility guide, probably have that up later.
So far, all I know is that Sounds of Skyrim may conflict.
Maybe. I use it fine, but other people report problems.

I didn't realize I had posted on the wips thread, sorry.

I'm pretty sure the issue with not being able to use the gates between skyrim and blackreach is related to this mod. It happens when I have this mod active. It does not happen when I uninstall this mod.

Regarding the dialogue going by too fast. I do have subtitles on. And this is an ongoing problem with many mods, not just yours. The text stays on the screen for just over a second and then it goes on to the next line of dialogue.

Yes. And it is a skyrim issue that makes those subtitles go by way too fast. Particularly if you used .wav files. I used WryeBash after I made the install BAIN ready.

This is not a bain-ready package! How could you do this to me?!

My computer can only handle medium settings. It is possible that there is a resource sharing issue between this mod and the game as far as those gates go.

I'm not completely sure about that. My computer can only really handle low settings.
Also similar reports I've recieved about this suggest that it's because of conflicts between my mod and another. But I've no idea which mods conflict.

The screenshots and description look real interesting. I'm gonna try this one out after I gain a few more levels and get my perks up a bit more. Congratulations on this one. :) The architecture and design in the screenshots make me think of some of the areas I've visited in Final Fantasy 7 and 12. I look forward to trying this out after I get my character's level up a bit more.

This can be fixed by pressing tilde and waiting 5-10 seconds, then pressing tilde again to close the console, or by repeatedly pressing Q to open the favorites menu. This can also be prevented entirely by temporarily disabling autosaves on traveling, and then enabling them after using the lifts."

This is apparently a vanilla issue. The only way I could fix it was by disabling all autosave options and then using the gates.

I've had some problems with distant object fading; in the holdup events, large portions of the architecture would fade out, leaving the fog colour in all its ugly brightness. Isn't there a checkbox that lets you disable object fade?

In the centurion prime event, the swirly dome effect would not appear unless I were in the middle of the arena, again showing the fog colour instead. And again, the walls and floor fade; I couldn't even get the floor to appear at all until I increased the fade distance.

Lastly, will there be train stations for Bthardamz and Raldbthar?

No stations for those, no. As for object fade, I've mentioned that. And full LOD only seems to work on exterior cells.
