Bolt-action

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 7:08 pm

I used the search and didnt find this specific thing posted. If it has and i missed it, please give me a link.

Well my question is, as of right now we are calling the bolt action the Barrett. Everyone assumes this to be confirmed. But Barrett is the name of an actual weapon company. Alot of the other guns in the game play off of names of real weapons/manufacturers, but are spelled differently.

I personally think it wont be called the Barrett. But something with different spelling. It will most likely play off of the name Barrett though. If you have any info on this please reply.

And after we get done with comfermation. Lets discuss the Bolt-action long rifle and the Drognav semi-auto long rifle. Your opinions on them, based off of the footage we have seen. Which one you plan to use if you are gonna use a long rifle. And anything else that has to do with long rifles.

Barret
Barett
Baret

The first one looks best to me. Any could work though. Or they could swap a letter out and make it Garrett or something. We already know the reference they're making.

So about the rifles the Bolt-action long rifle is going to be the rifle for me, high damage but slow reload but to compensate i think it will be a quick draw to my pistol and finish the person that way. With the Drognav semi-auto long rifle I can't say ill play with it alot unless its recoil is very low.

I'll be trying the Drognav out first - I think, at least to begin with, I'll be needing the higher ROF.

I saw how fast the Dragnov shoots and it seems okay but I think I might use the bolt-action because it "sounds like God coughing" and if the guy I shot is already wounded, theres a great chance he will die in 1 shot.

I'll use the Drognav, I've had my eye on it a good long while as it resembles one of my favorite weapons from MAG.

Pretty sure we found out it was called the Barrett because somebody who went to PAX called it that... not sure if that's it's actual name though.

As from one of the reason vids it takes about 3 sec between shots with the barret and 1 sec for the drognav.

I believe, just because someone posted something earlier about the button mapping on PS3, the default SMART button is L1. Also, I believe the button configuration is customizable so you can change it to whatever you like.

Full control customisation.

There are pre-set control schemes based off the most popular titles:
Duty Calls- similar to COD
Green space man- Halo like controls
and so on.

So did anyone see the last episode of Glee? Gee willikers, can those hound dogs sing!

I kid, I kid. As stated above, Bolt-Action rifles take around 1-3 seconds.

There's also been mention that you can further customise beyond those presets.

But back on-topic...

1 shot per second seems pretty good ROF for me. I'll be happy pouring high-damage bullets into heavies at range.

Sorry OP. A question had to be answered. For the children!

I don't normally play "sniper rifles" in the FPS genre, multiplayer at least, because I'm crap at it. I need a few extra bullets to make sure my intended target goes down.

Now in the videos I noticed LRs being used without scopes which reminds me more of playing Call of Duty. The original and using bolt action rifles online there (like the Kar98k). So I kind of like the idea of using an unscoped rifle because it is deadly and can be fired short range. Different scopes can make it useful for the long range support gunner to a front line medic taking shots at enemy team members between medic duties.

Also the drognov has 6 shots per clip and the barret has only 4. 18 and 12 extra ammo.

I gotta be honest, the Barrett seems to be shaping up to be a novelty weapon rather than practical. And if it's anything like .50 cals in other games you won't be able to silence it, either.

If you can silence shotguns you should silence the barret. I just wonder how big the damage gap is?

i believe that in the new gameplay/interview vid (the james bond one) that there was a supressed barrett (lets just call it this for now).
and i think that it is 2-3 shots on a medium with the drognav and 2-3 shots on a heavy with the barrett.
