I'm in a similar situation OP though sadly I'm on PS3 so my options are limited. I've already played the excellent Fallout games to death, apparently Dragon Age 1 isn't very good on consoles and I'm not into Mass Effect 1 or 2.

I like the Amalur demo and will get the full game eventually. Once I'm bored with Skyrim (got to happen eventually, right?), I'll probably go back to Red Dead Redemption and do some serious hunting. Still haven't finished the Undead Nightmare DLC or Dragon Age: Origins Awakenings.

Sincerely ? i've loved Red Dead and his "depth" but once i've started Skyrim i've quit the Rockstar masterpiece.

RdR - Masterpiece, depth of contents ,believable ,great immersion, lack of fun apart (partially) from the main quest
Skyrim -Masterpiece,lacks of depth, unbelievable, good immersion, great fun -apart (partially) from the main quest

RdR - 69-70 hours played
Skyrim - almost 350 until now

Skyrim is the only game that i've played since RdR last year, and even if i miss something (depth) in the end i prefer Skyrim if i have to choose what to play on a desert island.

RdR take things too seriously sometimes,Skyrim is totally absent on this regard. Who is better ?

I would suggest Dragon Age: Origins. A great game with great replayability.

The Witcher games are also a worth mentioning.

The Mass Effect serie is also worth your time.

Fallout serie also

KoA: Reckoning is ok, but it's way too easy and like Skyrim, the gameplay feels the same from level 1 to the end game.

Try Vagrant Story on the PSOne. I consider this one of the all time greats, extremely challenging, great replayability, solid story, tons of depth.

I got bored with skyrim. Maybe because i played too much of it. I tried oblivion and morrowind and they are good.
What other games are as good as skyrim? Just wondering.
I m not much of a bf3/cod fan so FPS games are out of the question.

There are a lot of good games out there, but unfortunately there is nothing that delivers a TES like experience. Two Worlds is probably as close as it comes, but no where near as good as a TES game.

I have watched a bunch of on line demos and the archers shooting like machine guns and the hammers that were so big they looked like something out of a roadrunner/coyote looney tunes cartoon turned me off from trying that game.

It's very bright and colorful in an almost cartoon-like way. I can see that being a turn-off for people, as well. Still, I liked combat and the feel of the world in the demo and will buy the game when it drops to about $40. Same thing with Uncharted 3.

Fallout 3 has a larger, better designed world, and is also more familiar to those who have played Elder Scrolls games.

Better designed than what, exactly?

I liked Fallout: New Vegas better, though I did enjoy Fallout 3 quite a bit, as I have enjoyed the TES series. But Fallout 3's problem is the landscape is so darn repetitive and gloomy. You're in a wasteland city with crumbled buildings that all look very similar, with wreckage and ruins blocking the easy path to get your objectives such that you need to wander around the circumference of a city block just to find either the subway terminal or the one hole in the clutter that will let you into this little self-contained area, surrounded by debris on all sides.

Again, it's a great game and I'd definitely recommend it to people, but not on the premise that its world design is better than, frankly just about any other open-world RPG I can think of.

Yeah, I will probably pick up KoA when it hits the $36 mark or thereabouts. I got Dark Souls the other day for $36. I have to be in the right mood for a game like that, since it is not the relaxing experience that Skyrim can be. You have to really pay attention to what you are doing in Dark Souls ever second or you are going to get punished. No relaxing chasing butterfly moments.

yes, the graphics are very WoW "stylized" and a big turn off. The lighting in the game feels very flat and old.
