Revert back to 1.5 and find out. If it goes back up then you have your answer.

If they did nerf them, then it may be in preparation to the damage values of crossbows. It would be kinda silly for a similar type crossbow to be outclassed by its equivilant bow.

Supposedly the bows were calculating damage wrong and this update "fixed" it. I haven't updated yet on my xbox and my daedric bow is at around 700 damage, I'm sure it'll be around 500 (where it should be) after I do.

1.5 introduced a bug involving calculating bow damage, making archery overpowered.

The base damage of bows increases when you equip better quality arrows, so with a 24 damage bow and daedric 24 damage arrows you end up with 80-90 damage rather than the 48 it should be.

I'm glad they fixed it.

yeah I noticed that but a decrease of 70-80 damage cannot be only contributed to a max decrease of 24 damage. and im comparing the damages without arrows

It's the bows damage that changed when you equipped arrows, the better the arrows the higher the increase.

For example a hunting bow that has 10 damage, when ebony arrows were equipped the overall damage is 45+ rather than the 30 it should be, the arrows give the right amount of damage but the bows damage increased.

You sure the bow damage without arrows changed?

20+10=30 the overall damage should be 30, instead it was 25+20=45 (ish) as the bows damage increased.

The bug I described was what was patched, not sure what you're experiencing.

Yes, before you would get a large boost of bow damage as you're using daedric arrows (i.e. much higher than +24). Now it's fixed.

All they said was
  • Fixed issue where bow damage was being calculated incorrectly
  • never mentioned what was being calculated incorrectly. so maybe you were exeriencing something different?http://www.gamesas.com/user/803524-drajman/ posted he has same issue as me

lower level enemies are still easy but the level 50ish ones take 4-7 sneak attack bow hits at arround 200x3 damage which isnt easy cause they have a habit of noticing they are being filled with arrows.

Word is that there will only be one crossbow usable by the player, and that the one and only way to get one is by siding with the Dawnguard. This was supposedly confirmed by an online article, but it sounds a little phony to me, as there is no direct quote from the developers in the article saying that this was confirmed, only that it's according to some Q&A somewhere.
