Hmm if they had it so it wasn't static, ran by "slavers" for want of better word, like travelling gypsies. You could find yourself bound and gagged if sleeping alone in the wilderness, next thing you know, you're thrust onto the sawdust for someone elses entertainment! That in itself could make for a good mini-quest, bring down the slave masters from within by becoming their champion and granting freedom for all.

Or something....

I somewhat agree. While I absolutely LOVED the Arena in OB, I also prefer each new title to be it's own game. I don't want to feel like every title in TES series is just a re-hash of the previous one. Not to say I wouldn't like it, just don't think it fits with the Nords as well as it did in Cyrodiil.

As best as I can see from the CK, there's an arena available to the game, but it has been removed (or is awaiting a DLC to activate it).

Sure, if you think a Gladiator / Thunderdome participation venue is entertaining. I'm glad they didn't include one in Skyrim, The Arena in Oblivion was the most shallow main questline to be found. Skyrim needs more depth in its adventures , not more repetitive bash and slash stuff. It could work though if they were to add some new weapons and techniques, spears, crossbow's , and had random landscapes / obstacles / firepits etc, more along the lines of Boethia's challenge to get the firebrand sword.
More depth? Oh please, like what? Kill Dragonz! Save the Worldz!

No, but seriously now. They could've had one, but would have to deal with it another way.
The Oblivion one was fun but still very shallow.

Pit fighting and animal betting would be cool.

in my opinion there is no point in bringing back the arena unless your going to have several arenas with a proper touring competition and tournaments.

Great idea!

Simple, all they got to do is just make the arena tournament exist within some Daedrac realm or across various Daedrac realms. That would be awesome!

I never really did much at the Arena. It was just meh in my opinion. I was kind of a lazy Oblivion player, and avoided the Main Quest for the most part. I did a lot of Guild quests, dungeon explorations, wandering the wilds. But I just didnt care for the Arena.

I'm hopeful that the arena comes back in DLC, makes even more sense if we travel to another plane/different location then Skyrim.

psh of course they do. whens the last time you walked anywhere and didn't get attacked by a werebear?

:verymad: why does beth do this to us? What is the point of lore and mythos if the dev team doesnt follow it?

Oh well, mods will fix it. I just have to wait a year.

I loved the arena in Oblivion but I don't feel like it would fit in Skyrim. They should have had some kind of viking-esque fighting thing though besides just bar brawls.

There is no need to bring this back as the arena fit for Oblivion because it had a roman feel to it. Skyrim has a viking feeling to it and therefore we're all barbaric in nature and culture, granted Morrowind had an arena in Vivec, but it was hardly ever used. mostly for certain quests, and house redoran. now there is a mod that does an overhaul to it and turns it into a true arena, which is actually quite fun. I should also mention there is a nice arena mod on the nexus for Skyrim currently, it's rather buggy last time i checked it out ( was awhile back ) so you may want to check up on that.

You do realise that the Roman empire built arena's all over their territory?

In France and England as well as some places in North Africa to name a few?

IIRC, there's some Arena quests and stuff in the CK so they did plan to put one in. Shame they didn't, I enjoyed the one in Oblivion a lot.

Why Companion HQ did not have a mini-Fight Club is beyond me. Even if it was just for practice.

agreed. I also agree that Oblivion style arena probably wouldn't fit as well, but with the grizzled region of skyrim, they missed a HUGE opportunity to make some type of pit fighting system, where anything goes.

You would think that a Viking-ish culture might even have a Spartan-ish trial of having warriors go out into the wilderness with nothing but a weapon and minimal clothing and must survive and kill a beast.

Of course not, no, you just hop off a wagon and become dragonborn.

Blood sport is barbaric.

The only good thing about the arena was the Grey Prince. *sniff*

In the Stormcloak quest line you have a test that is supposedly a traditional test for Nord warriors. Because the game doesn't have weather hazard, it's not much of a test though.

Since when has barbarism been frowned upon in TES? Seems pretty fitting for Skyrim, lol.
