So far the gameplay videos make Brink to look like a cross between Borderlands/Bulletstorm, Call of Duty, and Team Fortress 2. But I've recently heard some horrible news about it. I heard it will NOT have headshots, a global leaderboard system, or grenades that do any real damage. So far everyone is disappointed about this and many people have said that they are canceling their pre-orders and others said they won't even bother buying the game now. Are these horrible rumors true? I haven't found an official press release from Bethesda or Splash Damage confirming/denying yet. But if it is true, I probably won't buy this game.
1. One-hit kills in general have been removed. SD wants you to know exactly how you died, and they don't want it to seem like you've been smitten by nature. Of course, like other people have said, scoring headshots will deal more damage than body shots.
2. There is no leaderboard system because SD wants to promote teamwork, and doesn't want lone wolves focusing on their KDR.
3. Grenades are more crowd control weapons, capable of dealing massive damage but not outright killing people. See #1.
Honestly, if these "problems" turn people away, it's not surprising at all. BRINK is taking gaming somewhere different and it was bound to incite criticism anyways (as if the lack of women and splitscreen weren't criticism enough as is). It's not going to be a Battlefield, a COD, or a TF2 clone, and it will accomplish that by evening out the playing field for everyone.
