Well, these are level 21 veteran rangers. Level 16 - 18 Rangers will lose to Paladins.

Compare that to the 165 health of the BoS and I think over 250 health of the Rangers.

MakoVlazok, perhaps you could do this but with beefed up stats for the BoS. (Especially the power armor). Seems like the Rangers can cut through anything.

Also, does anyone know if sneak contributes to critical change? The Enclave in Fallout 3 also had sneak as one of it's main traits and were the best fighters in the game.

Veteran Rangers all the way!!! though they seem to have an unfair advantage what with all the brush guns, ranger seqouis and anti-material rifles. i like the fistful of dollars music, it fits well.

Nah, not at all. The Brush Gun and the Tri-Beam Laser Rifle have the same "Damage" which is 123. If you compare the stats, the Tri-Beam does a lot more criticals (Tri-Beam Laser Rifle: 53% in VATS; Brush Gun: 23% in VATS) and the Brush Gun does more critical damage (Tr-Beam Laser Rifle: 99; Brush Gun: 112) so pick your poison. The Tri-Beam's "damage per second" (369.9) smokes the Brush Gun though.

If the NCR had more, then they could win, but thats the only way(hell thats how they did it in the game any way).

I really hate any fight involving NCR veterans. They have the unfair advantage with high power .45 govt weapons and the perk that gives a jump up in their DT.

Anywho. I wanna see a 3 NCR vets vs Graham fight. That should be good.

Also, that video might not be a bug, he might have hit the vets gun and broke it.

I don't know man, I just don't take much from any of these vs battles people have. If the game had a better engine then they might hold a little more water, but as it is now the gamplay just doesn't give any of these fights justice.

I'm not surprised Rangers won, they have crazy health, and Ranger Vet armor has wayyyy more DT than its looks suggest it should. If it actually had a realistic DT for something that's only a briastplate and jeans, instead of only 5 less than full-body power armor, I imagine that'd be a lot closer.

Seriously, though, what's up with Ranger Combat Armor's DT being so high? It looks like it affords less protection than combat armor and has a third again the DT.

Also not surprised how the 1v1 ended, the Ranger got off 3 shots before the Paladin even fired once.

It's the limitations of any videogame, really. Veteran Rangers are supposed to quite possibly be the scariest human beings in existence, but there's only so much that can be done with the AI and engine to show that. Ergo, the only way to really flesh them out and give them their dreaded edge in battle is through equipment. It's similar to say, Starcraft. Raynor is supposed to be skilled as hell, fully capable of taking on several-to-one odds and winning through sheer skill and guts, but in game, he's represented simply by a Marine with higher health, armor and damage. You never really get the feel for just how much of a rampaging badass he really is.

Veteran Rangers are the same way. Hell, so are BoS Paladins.

What makes people object to the Veteran Rangers is their armor. It would have been better if the player never got access to Vet Armor, but could still get hold of Patrol Armor. It would make seeing that brown duster and red-eyed helmet a thing of breathless anticipation for their allies, and a time of gibbering terror and running cover grabbing for their enemies.

It would make more sense to give them even more DT via perks, though, than to jack up their armor to crazy amounts. DT-granting perks are easier to handwave as simply combat experience or what have you, but I find it difficult to believe that the armor can afford that much protection.

Yes, and they're supposed to take heavily disproportionate losses every time they fight.

The Brotherhood of Steel loses to the NCR, this is true, but a Paladin should roll over any soldier NCR has, for the most part.

Wow, didn't expect the BoS paladins to lose. That was a fair fight too, both sides had top tier weapons.
