Realism or not, sometimes you just click one too many while selling these 10 units of junk, and sell your own gear. Would it be reality, you wouldnt "accidently" sell your own armor either while selling some potions. Thats totally impossible. But i agree, sell confirmation dialog is a bad idea.
Not alloweing to sell equiped stuff, I can go with that. Otherwise, you're just too used to diablo-like games with buyback and stuff. I think it just makes you be a bit more careful. Of course, maybe the GUI is not the best to really choose what to sell fast and properly, but that's another topic...
