buying and renting out property

Buying property doesn't make sense in a world where everyone else takes it by force.

Fallout 2 had Brotherhood of Steel safehouses, and Fallout Tactics had the line of bunkers stretching across the map. I'd like the thought of having multiple locations to store all our junk, as having to stuff it all in one or two "safe" lockers makes it very difficult to organize. As for renting property... come on now, who in the world would want a minigun toting maniac that is off in the wasteland 95% of the time as their landlord?

Fallout 2 also had a nice car with lots of space in the trunk.

Me? Mainly because if he's out in the wasteland 95% of the time, I wouldn't have to worry about him coming around with that minigun for most of my life. And that other percentage would probably just be to collect the pay?

If you store items in random containers, they tend to dissappear. The only safe container was in your house.

I've used countless containers in Megaton, Canterbury, Citadel, Satellite Towers, etc... without ever losing anything I noticed.
