A call to the wolfpack #7

Post » Tue Jun 26, 2012 9:34 am

I have started a toon that will utilize the beast form, usually I become a werewolf just for the added strength, stamina, disease resistance but this time I want to try and use the beast form to it's fullest during combat. As of late I will change only during the night and will stay off the road but remain with in feet of it so as to ambush my prey, or stalk it for as long as I can, once I deem it fit to attack I will rush in and power swipe my prey so as to put them on their back and then it's game over. When facing 3-5 potential prey I run circles around them "herding" them into a circle(or closely bunched together) and will periodically make a 90 degree turn into the group taking swipes at whomever and will continue this until one or more break away screaming " I submit" or " We are routed" and finish them off away from the main group. I will continue this tactic until either the group or myself have perished.

This is a topic for werewolves to share knowledge and stories of the hunt, thanks for howling back

**Please remember to not post spoilers so as to show respect for our fellow PC and PS3 werewolves**

We happen to get to thread seven right before Dawnguard comes out!!! Maybe this means we will be lucky and get lunar transformations.

I'm not a beta tester. I'm inferring based on responses by beta testers.

So, as of today, does anyone use the Cursed Ring of Hircine to RP forced transformations? (which may or may not be implemented in DG?)

No, I did use it for awhile but it never made me change randomly so I just finished the quest and got the normal ring.

used to. about the 30th time of getting ganked by town gaurds before i could finish changing i completed the quest. couldn't figure out why i couldn't use beast form again :wallbash: so took the Savior's hide instead of the Ring. It wasn't until my second wolf that i figured out how to get BOTH and how the dang ring worked.

There's a way to keep the cursed ring, get the savior's hide, and get the cleansed ring in the same playthrough.
Spoiler
Side with Sinding, kill the hunters, talk to him (quest ends), dump the ring (in a chest, not a body or on the floor), kill him, get the hide, go outside, get the cleansed ring, go back inside, retrieve the ring.

I honestly don't want there to be forced lunar transformations unless you, by choice, wear something or do something that does it to you. It's great for role players, but that can break the gameplay for a lot of us who don't role play someone struggling to contain the beast inside them. Also, according to the official strategy guide, the strain you get from the companions is not affected by the waxing or waning of the moon.

I have said this many times and will say it again. For us players who want that kind of Lycanthropy Bethesda could add wild werewolves that can infect you, and then you have the normal strain which has forced lunar transformations. And players like you can stay as the Companions werewolves.

Well, not going into how many things are wrong in the strategy guide. But yes, due to a pact that a harbinger of the Companions made with the Glenmoril coven a century or so ago. There is an item: the Cursed Ring of Hircine, which you get in a quest and you may keep it via a method I detail above.

A shame, since we have lunar steel weapons with lunar mechanics already ingame.

I agree, they should add something for players like you, who would like lunar transformations.

Exactly, because adding in werewolves like that will not affect you players who like the Companions non lunar transforming werewolves.
