I can't have that armor? TG and DB armor

Does wearing fur make you look like a bandit?
Many people wear fur armor, it's a practical armor for those who hunt and live with nature, this really isn't the same thing.

I understand your reasoning for being mad, I think they should allow you to equip any weapon/armor choice that an NPC makes..

However, I think they need to implement a requirement for equipping something. Such as you need 90 skill in heavy armor to wear Dragon Bone Armor and 50 one handed to wield a Dwarven sword.. That is how I think it should be.

. . .

And while I'm at it, I have another thing bugging me; soul gems. When ever I soul trap someone/something why is it so hard to tell me what soul gem was filled and the type of soul?I hate looking in my inventory to see all my grand souls filled with lower quality souls. I don't think I should check every time to make sure it isn't going to ___ soul gem.

. . .

This used to bother me too. I solved the problem by carrying a few of each type of soul gem (empty, of course). 6 works for me. That way, captured souls always go into the right-sized gems. After I get the Black Star, I usually only soul trap sentient enemies anyway, but I still carry the whole range of gems, just in case I shoot some skeleton with a bow of malediction.

I like that. FONV had skill levels on their weapons. If you did not have the skill you were less effective with it, such as attacking slower or lowered accuracy. You should still be able to equip everything, but be penalized when using something above your skill level.

That is a load of crap. The fact that it exists implies that you can wear it, so why can some armors never be retrieved from a corpse? It is one of the less annoying things in Skyrim that I typically would never bring up, but it does warrant attention.

There are many clothing/armor type items that are strangely burned into the flesh of whoever is wearing it and it is stupid to force the player to join the guild just so they can get a suit of armor. You should only join the guild if you want to join the guild, not if you simply want their armor.
Yeah. I should be able to get a police or fireman uniform without joining them!

Did you ever consider the social impact of walking around in dark brotherhood armor? Some guards actually comment on the thiefs guild armor. Or how about the emperors cloths? Some things just dont make sense to be walking around wearing when out of context.

No, I agree with Bethesda's decision. If you want the good stuff, you will have to swallow your pride and join either to get armor. After all, if you got the armor, that's less incentive for you to join them.

You make a valid point and I partially agree, but a well made guild and well written questline would have more incentoves for joining than just armour. It's really just an argument of realism vs "gamism" if that's a word. In real life I could kill someone to get their clothing, or find it some other, likely less obvious, way, but the game mechanics are set up another way becsuse they want it to be more challenging, or give you an incentive to join the guild. Still, a well made guild wouldnt need to do that.

Players want unique rewards. That's the driving force behind a lot of people for joining a guild or not.

The thief armor is not unique and not even that good. It should have been available to anyone. I really don't understand why some clothes are 'glued' to NPCs in a way that's impossible for others to get them.

There's a trio of unique armors that can be accessed via the TG quest already. The default gear should be lootable off any fallen NPC

I am of two minds on this.

I think we should be able to loot the armor, but then I also think, that in this game, it needs to be earned. Perhaps there could be a consequence along the lines of the Ordinator Armor. If you ever wore it around them, you were marked for death by the Ordinators and attacked on site in Vivec for the rest of the game, or at least the conclusion of the MQ. However, that armor was just decent armor that you could get a low level with some effort. After a while, other common sets became available that were much better. Nightingale and DB armor is quite powerful and should not be a reward for skipping the faction. So, it would have to be low level, perhaps unenchanted, versions of the armor, if any.

Probably best that these two sets are earned.
Yes. This is a fair solution

Yes I could but if I don't want to be a pickpocket then I'm still out of luck. Granted you can actually take their armor?

I have worn steel plate armor. Does that mean I am associated with the bandits? Since the chiefs where it? What about leather/hide? Falmor? Daedric? Dwarven?

points rendered invalid!
none of those are faction armors

Hmmmmm. Is it not possible then to level pickpocketing and then steal the armour off a TG member? If you know where the secret entrance is and can successfully sneak up to someone then it's worth a shot.
Doubtful. You can't steal Astrid's armour from her even with Perfect Touch, so if you can't get TG or DB armour off them when they're dead, no way you'll be able to do it when they're alive.

Ever heard of a fancy dress shop? Good with a needle and thread or know someone else who is?
As long as you don't use it to try to impersonate a policeman or fireman, (ie: you tell people that you're not if they speak to you), it's quite legitimate.

As such, there should be a place you can buy it, maybe without enchants though. Alternatively, crafting it should be possible so it still comes without enchants.

I agree with their choice, it would be unfair to just get what you want with out doing something for it.

Whilst we're on that subject, how can armour magically meld itself to ones gender? IMMERSION KILLER etc.

Magic. The answer is magic. :hehe:
