ITT: Vegans

If it attacks me, I kill it. If it's standing where I need to go and I know it will attack me if I get close, I prefer to be the one to deliver the first strike. In short, I have no qualms with killing bighorners if they present an obstacle to me. I usually leave the young ones be though as they don't attack on sight, and I often ignore bighorners if I don't have to get close enough to attack, at least I started doing so once I realized that they only attacked if you got too close, despite showing up as enemies on your compass. Not like I need the experience when I already feel that leveling is too quick even when I don't go picking fights I don't need to. The meat is nice I suppose, but since I'm not playing in hardcoe mode, I only need it for healing, and I've never found myself feeling that there isn't enough healing items to satisfy my needs.

It's mutton if we are dealing with bighorners, or lamb...sorry O.C.D...

I don't see brohmen, or Bignorners... all I see is walking EXP.

I'm sure I would have killed them if I was desperate-enough for the food.

But alas, there is so much food laying around in the world that I felt no need to harm them - felt too close to home.

That said, I love a good steak as much as anyone, but I'll still buy (or take) the food off the shelf and eat that before I'll set about to slaughtering (what would be) a rare and valuable resource.

I was fighting something when a stray bullet hit a bighorner.... the bastard riled up a posse and like 10 bighonrers and 7 calves all charged me. I did not feel sorry for unloading my grenade machine gun on them.

They are like this at all levels, they have been given an aggro radius, they can see you, but as long as you remain outside that radius they just ignore you, but even when stepping inside that radius most give aggresive warnings long before attacking, it is one of the best features I've seen in this game, the use of aggro radius in fallout 3 was limited to a few radroaches.

i have no problems killing pixels.

but you should lose karma for killing calves and puppies.

but i still dont kill them since theyre one of the only things that are smart enough to refrain from attacking 2 angry bi chicks in power armor and a cyborg dog.

except the ones near my safehouse (legion). that place is great, bighorners and a crap load of ghouls to snipe.

Bighorner meat doesn't appear to give strength penalties when you eat it raw, so I stock up it on it often. I dunno if this was an oversight or glitch from the developers.

You know, objectively speaking, with this kind of behavior you would be doing the worst possible damage to their species. What you're doing is essentially killing off the individuals that have already proven to have genes good enough to survive and reach reproductive age, while leaving the unproven ones alive. Doing the opposite would be helping their species grow stronger. BTW that's why every species that live near humans tend to grow smaller and weaker as generation passes. Very bad form :nono:

I don't go out of my way to slaughter every one I see (that's what Legion is for;)) but if I'm running low on food I'll kill them. Bighorner steak (made with 50 Survival) gives a nice 2 minute boost to strength and healing. In fact at 100 Survival it boosts your stength 3 points.
