Can we not have another new sub forum entitled happy skyrim

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 1:43 pm

For the past few weeks I've been on this general discussion forum but it's more and more like a we hate skyrim discussion. I would like to come on and have some nice happy things to laugh and chat about but all the threads seem to be about the negative side of the game. And I think I will like many others eventual just stop coming on the forum if it's nothing but just people moaning all the time. There is already a software sub forum but the general discussion forum seems to be where all the software problems get aired. So give the fans a happy fan sub forum so that the fans can enjoy the skyrim forum as well.

that probably won't happen, problem is that people should learn to read before go in a forum and post, most of them usually don't notice the "issues" section and just come in and rant in the general discussion section, don't ask me why

Just let it go by. Only click those threads if you feel like having an argument. The world is full of people with different opinions, it is best just to accept it. But sometimes it is fun to argue also.

I still can't go to the Spoilers forum since although I have three characters over level 40 I have hardly gotten into the main quest still.

I don't think there are that many negative people on the forums, just a small group who have each clocked up several thousand negative posts, so it seems more than it really is.

Just ignore them, and stick to threads with a more positive tone.

To be honest this forum ahs hardly any gloom and doom, it has a few constructive criticism threads but not a disspraportianate amount.

The reason people think there is so much negativety is because of people not reading OPs and complaining about all the negativety

Indeed.

The forums are like a trading center. "Selling Skyrim hate here!!" "Buying cookies here!" "Want to buy Morrowind cuz Skyrim svcks 22gold." "Want to buy Morrowind 23gold." "Selling Skyrim love here!" 'Tis also like a sandwhich!

Plenty of positive threads are made.
They usually die quite quickly.
Possibly, if people would like the forum to be more positive, they should post on these threads more.

However, its a bit hard to have an actual discussion on a purely positive thread.
-"I like this."
-'I agree.'
Discussion over.

On threads that offer a different perspective, where people with differing opinions meet, you get a discussion so those threads dont die as easily.

Edit: I am however getting increasingly annoyed at the number of people who post nothing but inflammatory and nonsensical things about 'Morrowind bible thumpers, Morrowind zealots, Morrowind missionaries' and all that jazz.
Possibly so many people hark back to Morrowind as an example of how the series could be more engaging because they think it is the best game of the series?
Possibly you dont see so many people do the same with Oblivion as the general consensus on that game is that the level scaling ruined many aspects of it?

Honestly, this malarky must stop, it is becoming aggrevating to read nothing but hate-filled remarks against people who enjoy Morrowind. Its as if people are jealous or spiteful or something.
It is after all a very deep and engaging game. But so is Daggerfall.

It's easier to find the bad amongst the good for many people.

personally, from putting the game into my xbox..
waking up on a cart with that really gloomy but lush view
clearing a few dungeons and fighting many different creatures
hunting for resources and fishing for fun n food

all the way through to the bugs of
airborne mammoths, to restarting save points due to glitches rendering quests in completable losing many hours of play..

I have come to the conclusion, I Love Skyrim, I have not played a game that I enjoy this much (albeit it annoying the hell out of me from time to time due to things that shouldn't happen)

It is without a doubt in my mind one of the best games I have played... flaws or no =]

Thanks for giving me a place where I don't feel like people are missing the point.

(many negative comments often start with... " at 100+ hours" that settles it for me... £40 bought you 100 hours... shut up - £80 bought me 5 hours and a hangover... its not money wasted lol

I think on the whole most people like the game. It's just that generally, someone with something to complain about is going to be more vocal than someone who's satisfied.

What pointless exaggeration. The reason why the "feel good" threads fall into the secondary pages so soon, as someone before me said, is because there is rarely anything to discuss beyond "I agree!" and "This game rocks". If you want more of them go post in them and keep them alive.

You're also assuming that people who speak bad of the game hate it and don't want to touch it, when in reality they are the true fans who feel a sense of responsibility to provide feedback so the series can remain a good, solid game. Mindless praise has never improved any game.

Or you could just stop playing the $0 forum because somebody comments in the way you don't want them to... Oh no. sorry. That's what the "whiners" are supposed to do when they aren't happy with their $60 Skyrim. They don't enjoy it and ignor the glitches. They just focus on the negative. Pardon me I got my topics mixed up

Unless your stoked...

Freaking dragon just fell out of the sky in an animated crash and skid along a few dozen feet... never seen before in 100's of hours of play...
AWESOME

not to mention a spider jumping on a farmer and him screaming help, and then getting dragged abit... before I freaked out and killed it for giving me the creeps o.O

the coders/ designers attention to detail is brilliant

(was in a cave in the ice caps the other day near helgan, and found two skeletons half in and out of the snow... someone had obviously sat there and made this scene... it was a skull say on a bone foot with two bones coming out as if they were arms 'which they were not arm bones' - this made me laugh... i the proceeded to piss myself because the skeleton opposite was giving him the finger lol)

there is so much like that... one cave has a skeleton in a hay-bale reaching for a bottle of ale.... now despite pointless... it wasn't for me as I got a chuckle!

yes but its usually written by someone that never offers something constructive... usually finds a bug and [censored]es... if there was something constructive (apart from pointing out the bug in the first place) 20 forums wouldn't be made about the same thing and then people saying "im going to trade mine in" "bethesda don't listen to their players, they care about money only" its just a load of whining... so what did you being posotive to this thread? :D

did you ever notice some skeletons in compromisingly funny positions or some wierdly arranged items that resembled something else? or did you read a book that had you in fits of hysterics?

I have... Id suggest reading one of the lockpicking books....

something about some female student taking hours on a lockpick and making the "impossible lock" some amusing and gruesome comedy to be had when you look for it AND SHARE IT

If i'm happy, I'm satified and don't feel I have to post anything. If i'm annoyed, I want to see who else is annoyed by the same thing. It makes you feel a little better. I usually only post about things that annoy me. No reason to talk about the good things...they're doing just fine.

cool, thanks.. if you want some interesting reading... look for the Heavy Armour skill book .... "Hallgerd's Tale" but it is amusing when it hits the end... OR the lockpick one - "the locked room" = hilarious

they didn't write these stories for the sheer hell of it... there was some effort involved... why not praise and share it with the community? =D

what if you were the first person to see a real life dragon? or say you had a great time a "wonderland"... would you not talk about it because you reserve yourself to the thought that... (of course you would enjoy it, its wonderland) no you would want to share it... with a game you will feel compelled if the good was compelling enough.... for you that is...

hurting someone that hurt you in some way, usually makes a person feel better.... but that's no reason to do it
