So we can now change our looks but not our race? lame.

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 3:23 am

How is this lame?
You're either the character you started with or you're not, if you want to change your race make a new character.
That is completely ridiculous.

Well, I do think things like hair/beard style should have the possibility of being changed though.

It sorta defeats the purpose since we're still gonna have to go through that tired, lame intro any time we want a new race.

Bethesda keep failing at every turn. Seeing the intro for the 50th time aint cool.

I'm not believing this!!

Can't you just be glad with what Bethesda gives you???
You should already be happy that Bethesda listens to their fans and implants their these features in a DLC!!!

Bethesda, know that you guys are doing a really job and plz do continue this way! You have become my 2nd fav. developper (1st is Valve ofc, mainly because of steam).

I for one am looking forward to this dlc

No, your failing, by creating this thread you attempted to sow the seeds of discord around the fourm, You failed
Nobody should even answer his threads; this guy is unable to write anything positive about this game. It's all about complaining and whining; not worth the waste of time and energy.

You haven't really done or experienced anything at the time you leave the cave, so II'm not sure why anyone would want to change anything at that point.

I remember thinking this a few weeks back when I played FO:NV, i.e., why are you asking me this now, given that I hadn't even used the character enough to have a "whoops ... wish I chosen this instead" moment.

I think the idea offered by another poster re: save just before the spot you select your character is a good way to go.

I don't think thats a good way to go, after being identified off of the cart, you get 8 different kinds of lighting scenes and dozens upon dozens of angels/situations to view your char and sum up any touching up you might want. offering a "do you want to make changes" option would do well.

and besides its not like you have much else choice other than what you look like at that point.

as said before, if you were able to change your race mid game, not only would it not make any sense, but all the stats, skills, and dialog would have to be reset. no, thats just too much to change mid game. bethesda got it right on this one. That being said, i do understand you tiredness of the intro, i too have done many, many........many characters and it does get tedious going through the intro every time

Its as tedious as watching myself kill cam a wolf for the 1000th time. Its NOT COOL ANYMORE.

Can we change our name with the Riften "barber" then?

Then include an option to recustomize everything before leaving Helgen keep. I know a lot of people were sick of the Oblivion intro, and Im damn sure a lot of people are sick of the Skyrim one.
OB had the customize-before-you-leave option you're talking about

I spend time creating characters i really like before starting helgens keep and save them right after i exit the cave in case i want to play them over again.
Dont be mad at helgens keep because you get bored with your characters and restart a lot

oh and the only time you can change your looks is the same time you can change your race so this rant is ridiculous

Adding the ability to change your race is the most ridiculous request I've ever heard of. It would completely break immersion. Pick the race you want to use at the start of the game and if you aren't happy with that start again.. Simple.

Helgen Keep is 30 minutes to an hour, tops. If that is too much for you, then quit restarting.

Out of the many possible things that I might want to change mid-game, race is at the bottom. A person may change their hair color/length, or perhaps gain a tan or a few wrinkles over the coarse of the game, but how would one go from being an Argonian one moment, to a Nord the next?

I've played other games where they let you alter your character's appearance/stats with the drink of a potion, but even then, you weren't able to go back and forth from elf to dwarf to human.

Just put one foot in front of the other and don't look back. Think about restarting only when there's absolutely nothing else in the game to accomplish.

Whenever you've posted on these forums, it's to deliver some scathing criticism or other of Skyrim. Sometimes, it's deserved. However this crosses the line into the ridiculous; or rather, how much you've blown this out of proportion is ridiculous.

This.

Race changing is a stupid idea. If you want a argonian reroll. Be happy they're letting you do this.

Yup, that's why i use the alternate start mod. I just create a character and off i go!

But changing anything but hair and warpaint on an existing character doesn't make much sense to me in TES game. Fallout got away with it due to plastic surgery (with 50% survival rate!).

...Does TES world have any sort of medical sciences, or do they just use magic for healing all injuries, i've sometimes wondered?

Changing facial hair, hair, and war paint is something that should be in the game. Changing anything else however, like race, wouldn't be logical.

On top of that, the fact that other characters wouldn't be able to notice that major as a race-change would be really annoying and would be seen as a major flaw.

Yeah, changing races mid game is lame. Start a new game. Don't like the intro? Mod it or quit. They don't owe you shortcuts past bits you don't like.
