Can someone give me a definition of "exclusive"?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 3:40 pm

Like "exclusive pre-order bonus"? I always thought that means... umm... "exclusive pre-order bonus", "only available when you pre-order", "now or never" or "your only chance to get it".

So much for my trouble to gather all pre-order DLCs 2 weeks ago for 20€. Great.

Welcome to the world of Video Games 2011...where almost every single video game that has exclusive pre-order bonuses eventually releases them to the mass public. Stupid not to from a developer stand point...they can make money..why not? What the pre-order purchase does though is give you early access and you didn't have to pay extra for it.

Lucky PC users...

I sure hope it releases for the 360 and PS3 soon. I'm going to be short on money if these and Lonesome Road for New Vegas release near each other.

I also wanna add that when they say "exclusive pre-order bonus", it's just clever marketing. People fall for it.

Read that statement as: "bonus (a.k.a additional/free content) that only comes with a new purchase if you pre-order it. if you buy it on day one without pre-ordering you will not get the bonus."

it does not mean "exclusive content our company spent payroll hours working on that we just wanna hand out for free to the few people who pre-order and never try to make money on the content at a later date"

They won't. :P

Sadly buying game bran new is foolish nowadays. Wait maybe a month or two until the price drops 10 bucks and you can go to a store and find the Pre-Order pack for almost all games released.

You're just being a cynic... = /

Realistically they mean exclusive early access now. Just a year or two ago exclusive DLC was just that... But it's hard to offer that now, especially with community games - most of the time people demand that it all be released again (usually for a small price).

So we exclusively get it early and exclusively get it free... Why people who didn't get that particular pack have to pay for it later.

Yeah when you mis-quote me like that it appears I said the same thing... But I didn't. I offered a valid argument to your "we can make money off this later" theory.
It's more or less to appease the fans who want certain things from the pre-order goodness.

Soooo...

Wow, only yesterday I was looking to buy out the Psycho pack for that revolver. Maybe I should've spoken up earlier?

OT, in the age of console marketplaces, exlcusive DLC for any game has almost always ended up like this. Your bonus is more early release than full on exclusive.
In some small print somewhere it will argue that exclusivity is subject to change etc. etc.

It's no biggie. It's not like the guns are different to what's already there. I feel bad for the guys who have tried to collect it by whatever means when the game released, but you knew what you were doing and have enjoyed having everything for a while now.

Also, if DLC being released again increases the playercount for a little while longer I'm up for that.

Well, we technically got our stuff for FREE. So I'd say it was well worth PO'ing. Now people have to actually spend $ to get them. And I didn't care whatsoever if other people got The Psycho pack, just so long as I get Spec-Ops somehow.

Also, not ALL games do this. I'm sure SD did it to get some $ back from AoC being FREE for 2 weeks. What shocks ME is I thought they'd sell each kit seperately, and for 5$USD each. NOT 5$ USD for TWO Packs?! (THIS I don't get)

Basically 10$, and you have all the PO packs... kind've stupid IMHO.

Good, I'm glad they released them. I already had the Fallout pack but I really wanted that pop(Ark H2O) can suppressor.

Yeah, I'm hitting the nearest game stop for some points. I need have a bag over my head, spamming a pop-can supressed, greeneyed' hockler, proudly displaying my Vault 101 tattoos!

I'm glad they finally did too and I already had all of them shortly after release. I paid more for them but it's only fair with the greeneye scope.

I'm just surprised they're only two bucks for either pack. Hopefully it means we can expect cheap gun/outfit dlcs in the future.

They needed to release the content to add more to the game. IMO, the game still lacks content. I cant believe all of the crying about them selling these few pre-order items. For those that got these by pre-ordering and dont like them selling the items, get over it. At least you got yours for free. Also, if you want to see more in the game, you should be happy to see them sell these so they can raise more funds.

Pfft, at least you can buy these preorder items.

I'm still missing the silenced spas for Conviction. D:

Anyways, I like the fact that people who want it are given the option to buy it. Only reason I could see someone whining about it is if they were released for free, but they're not. Though, the like five bucks for pre-ordering may sting a bit now.

Just got the packs. Best 4 bucks I've ever spent.

I think I'm addicted to the Caesar. It just feels... better than the Ritchie. Could be the greeneye scope.
Might I even add 'Ave, true to [the] Caesar!' :disguise:

The Grin along with the The Lost pants make you look like a psychotic, demented character. To say the least, ME GUSTA.

Too bad I can't reset tattoos, otherwise I wouldn't have made a new character just so I can put my Vault tattoo on.

All in all, this wins. it coupled my love for Brink, Doom, and Fallout into 4 bucks of awesomeness.
