They don't give you 100 save slots for nothing.

People who didn't play Fallout 3 or don't follow the Internet for updates are the ones who are having problems. These are the majority of players. Not you.
You can quote Bethesda/Obsidian all you want, and say players that are complaining should have done x or y. It doesn't change that the complaint it merited.

It's still their own fault.
"But how could they know that DLC's were coming later down the line?"
Maybe they didn't.
Still, the pop up is there for a reason.
To make sure that the player knew this was the final quest.
And to make a save before taking it on.
Players failed to notice it then it's their choice.
Action and consequence.

I can't blame my brother cause "I" fell on the ice.
I can't blame Bruce Willis cause "I" thought Toy Story 3 svcked.
I can't blame Bethesda cause Red Dead Redemption was a piece of crap game.
I chose to venture out on the ice, I chose to watch Toy Story 3 and I chose to buy RDR.

The player choses to save or not save no matter if there is a DLC further down the line.
They even gave players a pop up, which a lot of older games does not do.

And the player doing research?
Again, their own fault.
Whenever I buy a product for more than 100 kronors then I always research it a bit before buying it.
So if someone buys a game or DLC just cause "They "assume" it's great" then it's their own fault for assuming anything.
And FO3 was a pretty big game (hype wise) and it's DLC's were as well.
I'm guessing most RPGamers knew about FO3.
If you knew about FO3, then you knew about the DLC's.
Considering this is a new cash cow, why wouldn't it release DLC's?
It was a given.

And if someone didn't play FO3, didn't know FO3 had DLC's, then bought New Vegas and even thought reading the pop up at the end he STILL continued in there without making an additional save then it's still his own fault.
Later he finds out there's a DLC, he buys it cause he forgot about the pop up (Don't see how it's Bethesdians fault he had bad memory or less perceptive memory) and then proceeds to start his save and gets mad he can't leave Hoover Dam and blames Bethesdian that he can't play it cause "he" didn't make a save before the final quest.

I still don't see how it's Bethesdians fault.

Because sometimes they confuse themselves with other people.

First it doesn't say to save at least not that I recall.

Second don't quote something that the developer said, really? Do you think that every person playing this game was that into it before hand they were following every comment coming out of Bethesda//Obsidian?
Your use of "common" knowledge actually refers to the minority of gamers.
That said your basing your entire argument on previous games. This is Fallout New Vegas not Fallout 3.

Face it, you're not going to win this one. You made a mistake. We all have, at one point or another. And you didn't answer my question. Did you have any saves from before the warning? :poke:

Yea, I had saves but it doesn't change the fact that people are blaming new players and not the developer for this.

I really don't understand why people can't grasp this. It says the game will end, point of no return. Ever. What's so difficult to understand about that? If you want to play the DLC, as with everything else, you have to play it before you end the game. You don't need a developer comment or experience with FO3 to understand that.

The game ends when it ends, and that's not going to change. I don't see how they could've made this any clearer, unless you want a big flashing pop up that you can't click away for the first 10 seconds that just says 'CONTINUE HERE AND THE GAME WILL END FOREVER SO SAVE YOUR GAME NOW IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE LATER'.

I don't understand..are you saying people shouldn't research a game and or/dlc or anything before they buy it, do you go out and buy a brand new car on a wim because you think its gonna do something, then take it back and whine and complain cause YOU didn't do research....it HAD been stated that their WONT be a DLC continuing the game..if you are that ignorant then that is your own fault for not doing a quick research before spending your money...

I dont know if saving at ANY point before going to the hoover dam would even matter...Getting DLC errors or being told by Bethesda tech to restart from another save or restart the game anyways....
I got to say, I love the whole "never assume anything" from earlier posts here...Those people must have a tedious life! (never assuming that a car bomb might be on your car, or never assuming your food isn't poisoned, never assuming anyone cares what you put on message boards...)

Yea, I had saves but it doesn't change the fact that people are blaming new players and not the developer for this.

So what if they're a new player?
So what if this is the first Fallout for them?
So what if this is the first RPG for them?
If a pop up comes up that says "The game is about to end, do you want to go to the final quest? You cannot go back if you select yes. [Yes] <--> [No]" then any player that "wants" to keep playing should be well able to select [No], save and either continue playing or select [Yes] after saving.
Being new doesn't excuse that they were given a chance and they failed to grasp it for whatever reason they had.
Developers aren't at fault for a player failing to read a freakin' pop up. (And from what I've seen, most RPGames aren't as friendly as to give the player a pop up)

What are you people not grasping about the complaint? No one is complaining that the game ends at least I'm not.
My point is if your going to make DLC that takes place before the end of the game then include it in the god damned game. At no point does that message indicate that this decision changes your ability to play future DLC.
For instance, Player A finishes the game fully aware that it has a definitive end, but finishes before the DLC is made available. Said player sees that there is DLC available that says you need a previous save file and goes "hey I have one of those I beat the game."
Player A proceeds to pay 10$ and download the DLC to find out that BTW by previous save we meant a save that didn't finish the game because this takes place before that all happened. Don't have a different save? To bad were not gonna give you the option to back out of Hoover Dam. So play through again.
All I'm saying is it's unfair as a developer to make DLC that has restrictions. If the games supposed to have an ending and they put the effort to warn their players that your are about to enter the Point of No Return then just don't make any DLC.

I didn't say anything about not doing research. What I said was the average gamer is going to look at reviews for games they are interested in, but they arnt going to be following the developers of the game to know every detail.

So basically what you want is for that pop up message to read..

'Point of no return. Once you proceed you will not be able to go back........except when a DLC comes out in which case we'll give an out that allows you to leave in the middle of a big battle since you'll fail to heed this warning and you'll fail to make a hard save right now'

For the love of god...

THERE'S A HUGE WARNING THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTINUE THE GAME THAT TAKES UP THE ENTIRE SCREEN.

If you chose to ignore it, you've got no one to blame but yourself. Stop whining, neither Obsidian nor Bethesda owes you nothing for your foolishness.
