A concern about Helios One

its optional
its optional. you can repair it for them and let them use the power as they choose.
or redirect it to the satellite laser.
there will probably be an option to help ceasers legion with it

Ah, ok. Thanks.

Wait, so if I don't betray the almighty NCR, I don't get the orbital-space-laser?

Idk, with how many 'do w/e you want' options, maybe they WILL give us one.

Don't worry you will get the CL equivelant of a terrestrial-sinkhole drill, jk.

I agree 1 day is to less 3 makes more sense. Also I figure, if you stay on their good side long enough they'll trust you enough with a deathray. :flamethrower:

Ok theres a giant satellite with a laser beam attached to it. you get a beacon and point it at something and the satellite death ray shoots where you aim the laser. Basically a Hammer of Dawn from Gears of War.

The beacon is portable.

you point at a target and a laser rains from the sky. it can only be used once a day cause its so powerful. you unlock it if you betray N.C.R and direct energy towards the space laser

We dont have all the details yet but we do know that if you manage to fix the helios one power plant (along with whatever options they make for the NCR posted there and yadayadayada)
you'll recieve a portable laser beacon. You point and click to call in an orbital strike from Archimedes II. And it can be used once every 24 hours.

Sweet thanks for the replies guys! So the beacon can be used anywhere even when your far from helios one and it can only be gained by betraying ncr so we wouldn't be able to be on there side or continue there quest line in order to get this weapon?

Were not sure, there are probrably other ways to obtain it.

Also I think it will only work outside not in buildings, but basically anything that doesn't have a roof will probrably be laserable(yeah I made that up).

Well, it's not like you have to use it every day.

Slightly off topic, but I'm kind of hoping the occasional passing UFO can get caught in the beam. Or hell, even a vertibird or something. :D

Is anyone else curious about the impact of the laser on towns/settlement? I'm wondering how they will approach its use in places like The Strip, or Hoover Dam. It would seem an orbital strike laser might cause damage to fragile infastructure, but I dont expect destuctable architecture. Do you think the beacon will be disabled in these places or just cause civilian/monster death? Any thoughts?

Well, I have a prediction.

You take the part from Mr. House's faction.
He tells you to steal the laser and fix it. You have it in your control to do whatever. He says the water from the hoover dam should be spread throughout to revive the wasteland. You now have a deadly choice. Kill the strip of new vegas to end his reign, or destroy the dam and flood new vegas.

I choose water for all, to set awash this parched desert of Sin and meaningless life, Water to all.

May you drown and discontinue your selfish ways upon this scorched earth, If there be no eden there be no life at all.

Who am I to decide? no one really, but If I've come to this clarity, I will act it out.

Well it's not so much worse than Fatman is it?
Fatman had it's (sort of) limited ammo and overkill capacity as well.
Once a day/week is fine IMO.

Maybe I'm missing something here. I never really thought about it, but how is the actual orbital laser powered? Wouldn't it have it's own solar panels? What is the purpose of the Helios One power plant? Why does it need so much power, isn't it just acting as a transmitter? Or is it actually transmitting it's power to the orbital laser?

The wiki states that it takes 1 day to recharge, so 1 day = 1 strike
