Confimed Bachelor : Fallout: New Vegas

rofl that would be a good way to lure him away somewhere. I caused a bit of a seen when i gunned him and his bodyguards down on the casino floor. I accidentally shot one of the blackjack dealers :laugh:

Okay...so I chose the confirmed Bachelor perk. Me thinking it was the same as a "playboy". Unique dialogue, as they call it, i saw as a plus. And seeing as how it also adds 10% damage to male characters, I thought that was a bonus. I didnt notice anything strange until I talked to Ignacio Rivas at Helios 1....

The dialogue added by Confirmed Bachelor made me do a double take when I saw it on the screen. I remember saying, "what?...whats that supposed to mean? that..doesnt sound right".
So i looked on the fallout wiki and apparently the confirmed bachelor perk means you prefer taquitos over tacos. I was kinda irritated by this unexpected effect of the perk. After all, I wasnt born in the 40s and 50s when "confirmed bachelor" was a common euphemism.

But being a mature gamer, I can look past this and enjoy the game I spent $80 on. It was only when I went into Gomorrah that I had a huge problem. Where did all my wonderful hokers go?!?! They've been almost completely replaced by dancing men and Ghouls :facepalm: Is there any way to undue this?? Am I the ONLY one with this problem??

I did that and took the lady killer perk and nothing was strange

So you get no female prosttutes? I'm playing as a female with no "Cherchez le femme" (sp?) perk, and I can still sleep with the female prosttutes such as Joanna and Dazzle.

With Cherchez la Femme you can get Joanna for free :hubbahubba:

And that's the only place i've seen clf-specific dialogue. Plenty of Black Widow opportunities though.

I was about to say you weren't being a mature gamer because I thought your post was going to end at that sentence and the only reason why you were complaining was because of that one dialogue, but then I saw the remaining part of your post, and all I can say is that is completely hilarious! All of the hokers are males? That's hilarious! Thanks for giving me a good laugh, LOL.

lol they're either males or ghouls, i have only 2 females total dancing on the inside. Theres more ghoul strippers in the courtyard than men though :blush2:

I re rolled that character anyway. This was before i realized trying to take every speech/charisma based perk was a stupid idea.

So, the perk icon, with two Vault Boys, one of whom is naked with a little love heart above his head, and the fact that affects the same six, as opposed to Lady Killer/Black Widow, which do the opposite, none of this alerted you to what it did?

Besides, if you're only doing it for the bonus damage to men, who says you have to choose the [Confirmed Bachelor] dialogue options? It'd be like complaining that you have the option of siding with Caesar or House, when you don't necessarily have to.

I have both on my character, although I RP him as a lady's man, he is quite 'persuasive' towards men too if it suits him (even if he shows no real interest).

This is just a guess but if you have the wild wastland trait that might have something to do with it.

actually i do have the Wild Wasteland perk. Now that you mention it, that perk probably have something to do with it. Id check the Geck to confirm but I have the 360 version.

I wish there was a way to persuade one of the hokers or Veronica to convince Benny to meet them in a private room for "milk & cookies". As long as your speech/barter was high enough. Id love to pop out of the bathroom with a ski mask/knife and scare the crap outta Benny while he gets knifed down :tops:

Ah yes.. people not reading the description then complaining about it. To be honest though, I've heard Confirmed Bachelor to be used as a euphemism for a homosixual man up through the 80's at least, possibly later. It's not in use so much this decade because it is more acceptable to be openly gay, so there is less reason to be coy about it.

I personally giggled like mad when my first character leveled up and both Black Widow and Cherchez La Femme showed up. I mean, as a gay gamer, I was a bit miffed in Fallout 3 that you only could choose Black Widow and not Lady Killer as a female gamer. At least you had Nova, Bittercup and Clover to keep you company.... But I very much applaud Obsidian for giving us the Cherchez La Femme and Confirmed Bachelor options. And as far as I have seen treating the gay relationships and characters in game with as much respect and dignity as any of the other characters, not making them stereotypes. So big thanks, Obsidian. It may be a small detail, but it is appreciated.

I took both Confirmed Bachelor and Lady Killer perks. I had forgotten what "Confirmed Bachelor" meant until I got to my first dialogue option with the supply sgt. in the Mojave Outpost. Then I nearly fell off my chair laughing. After that I picked up Lady Killer perk :wink_smile: . What's not to like, 10% more damage to any human in the game plus more dialogue options. And many of the dialogue options are just funny as hell. :rofl:

I tried the lady killer perk and i notice alittle more females, but the men and ghouls are still prancing around. I still cant "sleep" with any hokers..too bad Joana left town =(

you can always do the mission for Red Lucy or Sarah the Overseer

This thread is all kinds of amusemant for me since just yesterday I thought to myself "You know, it'd be funny if someone came on here complaining about Confirmed Bachelor thinking it meant they were a playboy and not gay."
