Confimed Bachelor

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 4:40 pm

Okay...so I chose the confirmed Bachelor perk. Me thinking it was the same as a "playboy". Unique dialogue, as they call it, i saw as a plus. And seeing as how it also adds 10% damage to male characters, I thought that was a bonus. I didnt notice anything strange until I talked to Ignacio Rivas at Helios 1....

The dialogue added by Confirmed Bachelor made me do a double take when I saw it on the screen. I remember saying, "what?...whats that supposed to mean? that..doesnt sound right".
So i looked on the fallout wiki and apparently the confirmed bachelor perk means you prefer taquitos over tacos. I was kinda irritated by this unexpected effect of the perk. After all, I wasnt born in the 40s and 50s when "confirmed bachelor" was a common euphemism.

But being a mature gamer, I can look past this and enjoy the game I spent $80 on. It was only when I went into Gomorrah that I had a huge problem. Where did all my wonderful hokers go?!?! They've been almost completely replaced by dancing men and Ghouls  Is there any way to undue this?? Am I the ONLY one with this problem??

Hah, did you even look at the perk's icon? Why would we need two perks that help seduce women?

I love those gameplay perks, especially the unique dialogue options (I'm more of a roleplayer than a powergamer), tbh I thought it was obvious what it meant looking at the description and icon the perk has - going for the cherchez la femme perk for my female PC this playthrough and when I play a male I will take confirmed bachelor.

I don't believe Confirmed Bachelor affects Gomorrah, though I could be wrong.

You can take both it and Lady Killer if you want.

It's a pretty half-assed perk. You just keep getting speeches about how "they would, if only circumstances were different."

Get both Confirmed Bachelor and Lady Killer I think that would balance it out, also I took the perk and I still have only women dancing at Gomorrah.

Lol, I might have to play as a man next, you've just convinced me :P So you get no female prosttutes? I'm playing as a female with no "Cherchez le femme" (sp?) perk, and I can still sleep with the female prosttutes such as Joanna and Dazzle. I'm sure I've done a playthrough with neither speech perk and there's always a mix of male and female dancers. Maybe you're just realising the men more now that you've come out of the closet? :P But seriously, if that's your thing, check out the gardens in Gomorrah - I imagine the girls are still pretty receptive (they can't choose to be picky, after all!).

I saw it, I believe it was called "Lady Killer". Honestly to me, that just sounded like someone who kills women with a added damage bonus. The pics for the two perks seem kinda backward to me. If confirmed bachelor is M4M, then shouldnt it do more damage to females and be a female in the pic he's trying to knife instead of a potential love interest. And the same for the female equivalent perk. The pics for the perks are confusing. And I didnt have gender bending on my mind when I started this game, so the thought never really occurred to me..

Now, that right there's funny...

PS

Slow down and read the perk descriptions next time. In the meantime, enjoy your walk on the wildside! :D

Nah, the pic is because you can now get close enough to hit 'em where it really hurts :P (that and the fact that while you get a gay/lisbian speech option, you can also do more damage to them in combat).

Go Obsidian and Bethesda! While the misfortune of the original poster is amusing, I must commend the developers for adding this aspect of RP to the game. It takes a lot of guts to make a move like that.

There's only a few that you can interact with anyway, I believe. The rest are just filler, and don't actually have their own dialogue.

I honestly don't think the confirmed bachelor/cherchez le femme perks close any dialogue options - they just open up new ones. Or at least that's how I felt playing my female character, maybe it is different for the male ones

I'm honestly surprised at how many people don't know what confirmed bachelor means, I'm 23 and knew and picked it and rejoiced. Shame about not getting to six up any of the the guys though. Unless you count FISTO as one.

I have removed several less than mature posts which served only as flamebait. Such posts being offensive to groups of members will continue to be removed and warnings issued. If you can't discuss this perk in a mature way please refrain from posting. And please refrain from inappropriate discussion of mature subject matter as well.

OP: You should have read the perk well before choosing. Just enjoy the play through and don't worry about it. It's a character not you so you have nothing to worry about.

I have both the Confirmed Bachelor perk (totally missed out on what it meant when I picked it up) and the Lady Killer perk. Both just open up new dialogue options, and don't close any others.

I was about to say you weren't being a mature gamer because I thought your post was going to end at that sentence and the only reason why you were complaining was because of that one dialogue, but then I saw the remaining part of your post, and all I can say is that is completely hilarious! All of the hokers are males? That's hilarious! Thanks for giving me a good laugh, LOL.
