Constantly Freezing

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:43 am

This is ridiculous.

First Fallout 3 GOTY, and now their latest and greatest New Vegas?

I have a 60GB PS3 and the game is constantly freezing. I had the same issues with the Fallout 3 GOTY edition.

Over a span of 12 hours today I spent a total of 6 hours playing, taking breaks in between. It completely froze on me 5 times forcing me to restart my system.

Not only that, but the game play will constantly hiccup as I'm walking across the landscape or even completing a task as simple as switching out my weapons.

Bethesda cannot get away with these issues two games in a row. This is an issue that needs to be taken care of and not just ignored after they have mine and YOUR money.

I have the same issue. I am amazed that they don't care about this issue in the least. If they don't fix it this time I wont make the mistake of buying another Bethesda game again.

+1. Hell I couldnt even finish making a character before the first freeze. I learned from the FO3 GOTY to SAVE OFTEN.

I'm not buying the game at all until people say it's freeze free. (Btw people have the same complaint over the official PS3 forum.)

I'm not going through the FO3-frustration one more time.

I am pretty sure it is the engine at this point. this is what amazes me though. We paid full price for this game, either make a new engine, or make sure the one you are using wont mess up the same way it did... I don't think they'll fix it because it would involve rewriting a good part of the code, which (i don't know how the engine really works but) is probably impossible once the game is out, so yeah it'd probably be a MASSIVE patch

I'm so glad I decided to wait a few weeks before deciding on getting the game. The freezes in Fallout 3 just ruined the game for everyone I know. It was a great game and I put 100s of hours into the game but freezes pissed me off. Anyway Bethesda release games like this because they know we'll still buy the game reguardless of being told it freezes and has hugh amounts of bugs. They know consumers like me will b*tch all day about these problems and say we won't buy the game or any other Bethesda game if they don't fix the problems but they also know we are full of crap and at the end of the day we'll spend 60 bucks on this broken game. Thats why they go ahead and release broken games with exclusive content for certain platforms, because they know we are svckers. Thank you bethesda for b*tch slapping us one more time

So what are the odds that Bethesda will even make a public acknowledgement of this bug? They never did that with FO3 (the freezing) that I know.

I too get the 1-2 second stops while I am walking around the desert. It is like the game is loading the scenery for the next part of the map or something. Not seamless as I would have hoped for.

I doubt it... I mean at this point i think it is obvious that this is a major problem and we haven't publicly heard anything.... i wonder if they even look at these forums....like seriously... are these just a way for us to vent our frustrations? or does this really help them at least try to solve anything.

I don't know, I have a feeling that people will whine so much this time that they can't ignore it. That's what I hope at least. Keep making a lot of noise...

O I will defenitely will keep making noise 4 ya Myxh.I will not let Bethesda take close to $100.00 of my money and then provide poor technical support and no public adknowledgement of the glitching/freezing/hitching/lagg/etc.The list is so long I could go on all day.So raise it up let's start a petition. No more BAD GAMES!!!!XD

There is a problem at the NCR outpost that you go to for reinforcement for primm when you try to get your weapons repaired after you scroll down about 4 times it freezes it does it every time between 3 and 8 scrolls. I have it saved right before i talk to the guy and i have frozen it in the same place 6 times it is certainly a bug. I never had any problems with fallout3 except for getting stuck sometimes but i have already counted 8 small bugs and now this more serious one. Hope you decide to fix it rather than just screw over the customers like infinity ward did with modern warfare 2.

Hi everyone.

I am experiencing the same sort of glitches as described elsewhere on this page. I've had the same problem with Fallout 3, especially with the Point Lookout DLC. This happened on two separate PS3. systems. Luckily, this year I had an intuition that the game might be glitchy again and I decided to rent it before purchasing. I've returned one of the rented copies to Blockbuster, exchanged it with another and the glitch persists. I notice that there is a lot of resignation amongst the users. Here are some actions we can take so that the software maker takes us seriously:

1) Stop payment on the purchased game by calling the credit card company (easier to do than return it as many shops don't have good return policies)
2) Wait for a bit for the patches to come out, if not address the Better Business Bureau
3) Write in emails to the main game review magazines about this situation so that the game doesn't get top accolades like it did last time
4) There is an online petition website where one of us can create a petition asking the software maker to address the issue. If we gather enough signatures maybe we will be heard. A petition can be created at Petitiononline.com

What do you think ?

Same problem here! it's like they are showing a question that pops into my head, did they even test the integrity of this game on a ps3 at all?or did they just screw over ps3 users again as with Fo3 with the patches and dlc? Guess we'll have to wait again for the goty edition for problems to get fixed...ps3 users that is. Seriously they got some Eeeeeeflack to check on

This has to be the WORST PS3 game I have ever played! Constant low framerate or freeze up. REALLY can someone please release a game that is not CRAP? I thought Mafia 2 was crap, but this is by far the winner/loser.

No more running out to buy a game for me. Bethesda better get the head out of their butts ASAP! :flame:

Mine froze within an hour of unwrapping the game. During the Sunny Smiles tutorial, complete freeze, made me feel really good about buying this game...

I write a polite detailed explanation of the issue, and send it off to their customer support, asking for a follow up on this issue. All I got back was a copy + paste response that didn't even address my concerns, really svcked.

I played the game for about 45 minutes, the game froze. I write in to tech support about the issue, and this garbage response is what I get:
1. Problems may arise if you have been playing the game for an extended period of time. Let the system cool down, then try running the game.

Well then, guess I can only play for 30 minutes at a time. Never had another game crash my system besides Fallout 3 and Fallout: NV, but you're right, I shouldn't expect to play for more than 30 minutes.

The freezing is insane for sure 5 times in 23 hours .

3 years owning my 80 gig PS3 and it has only froze 6-7 times before this

This is beyond pathetic.

If the game designers are reading this i would suggest that you look at the auto save and see if it is corrupting the data because now that i am saving at least every five minutes i have had zero problems with the game.....but if i don’t save it myself around the 45 minute mark it freezes....but it has auto saved so i don’t lose much. also when resuming an auto saved game it is having a problem sometimes where it won’t let me shoot and it randomly shoots about every 20 seconds to get it to stop i have to restart the ps3 go into game drop the weapon pick it up resave quit and then reload the game that fixed it for me........I think it is your auto save that is causing the data to corrupt because i have not had a single problem for the last 3 hours so long as i remember to save about every five minutes and save after an auto save. Love the game in theory but it is a real hassle trying to beat it this way so much time wasted on fighting the glitches and bugs and freezes but it would be the best if it didn’t have those problems. The way it stands i feel a little ripped off right now but as long as you get them fixed within a month i will forgive you.
