creative date ideas

Post » Fri Sep 02, 2011 8:50 pm

So, I'm taking a girl out on a date, and I refuse to do the old beaten up dinner and a movie thing. The only out of the box thing (well, its not too out of the box but its way better than dinner and a movie) is a picnic by the lake in the evening. Its fun and romantic.

So does anyone have any ideas? Also, share your stories.

Take her paintballing?? :D. Or more realistically a romantic meal on a boat. Unless she doesn't like the sea. Or a cooking lesson!

Well, I knew of this place that gives your these clay plates/bowls/cups/goblets and you decorate them any way you like with paint. Then they put them in an oven and it turns your creation into ceramic. That place was pretty cool, and it was fun too. I took a girl there on a date and we had a blast.

You should try finding something like that. But it all depends on the places available to you and the girl herself. The girl I was with liked crafts and stuff, but maybe the one you're with isn't. Find out what she likes and then look for places that pertain to those likes. :)

I like going bowling on dates. Ice skating can be fun, but you both have to be at least a little bit good at it - preferably you'd be the better one, so that she can cling on to you if needs be. :)

If it is the first date, I wouldn't do anything too creative.

How do you propose he makes the bread coloured? Or the ham?

Food dye/colouring, would taste and smell weird though since you'd need to coat the bread in it.

I think soggy purple bread is the last thing you want to try to impress a girl with on a date.

It's true, my ex made a green cake once. It looked disgusting, but everyone assured me that it tasted like any other cake. That didn't convince me to try it though :P

First dates are supposed to be hell. I think we should all try to stick with that tradition. :hehe:

Yeah I work with food dye a lot (I'm a cupcake baker) and I defy you to colour bread without it going gross. Also meat won't hold dye... ;)

I figured ham wouldn't hold dye well, do you get to make icing and lick the bowl clean if theres extra ? :)

Idea: Take her out for a meal and then go somewhere and bake cakes :D

Picnic is a meal. You must make her feast all the senses: eyes, taste, smell, touch, hear... The dye food does not seem a good idea to me... Purple bread...

Simple, try to be creative for your picnic. For example, do you know you can make delicious salad with petal of flowers ? http://whatscookingamerica.net/EdibleFlowers/EdibleFlowersMain.htm it will give you good ideas: this will be surprising and you can as well express your feelings with it.

For the touch (I mean the funny consistency) try contrasting things: for example, take rice noddle you will very quickly fry (they inflate and make kind of crunchy nests), you then add some spices (coriander and a small sprinkle of curry and paprika), it can be kept in plastic boxes and it is very nice, better than the traditionnal potatoes crisps.

Just be innovative. Buy her a small and simple gift: a small antique jewel, you can get beautiful cameo, I think you can get some for less than 60 $ (40 euros). I don't know any woman who will not love a beautiful cameo.

Be sweet, be yourself, don't try to impress her, make her laugh: remember this greek song "How much does it cost, a kiss, in the west, in the east ? The widow, it is 4 drachmas. The married woman, 40 drachmas. And the free lady, it is expensive, you take it with a smile".
