Cross-dressing is too common in Skyrim: I realized I was wea

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:39 am

I'm a guy and I thought that 'Fine Clothes' looked all right so I put them on while I was exploring Riften one Sunday morning.

To my horror I saw the obnoxious lady named Maven Blackbriar was wearing the exact same thing. I immediately changed my outfit in public to something more unique. The black-briar's are the most obnoxious family I've ever had the misfortune to meet. Except the daughter who is an alchemist, she is a sweet girl lost in her own world.

Even her bodyguard Maul is a gigantic jerk-off. I'd rather be kicked in the head by a horse than withstand the toxic filth spewing out of his big, ugly mouth.

Then I noticed that there are only four types of 'Fine Clothes' and two types of 'Fine Shoes' and that a lot of people are wearing it, men and women.

I see the Fine Clothes as unisix, because they look good on both genders. It's the T-shirt and jeans of Skyrim.

Are you referring to Cicero's clothes? That guy is a freak but he is the most developed and entertaining character in any game I've ever played.

Not like anyone who hadn't played that questline would have a "spoiler", he doesn't even tell who he is or what he is about.

I dunno. It`s difficult to say what is men`s clothing and what is women`s clothing since men tend to wear long robes that look like dresses, so they are kind of interchangable. Look at certain points in history and it`s a similar issue. the only thing that might separate the men from the women is that a man could go topless where women might likely cover up, but even there, in some cultures, women would quite readily go topless too, especially if working hard. Before around the 12 th century depending on culture and country there were no real hard and fast rules on what you had to wear.

In fact the Law never even really started restricting people from nudity until around the 18th century and of course today, a woman will be arrested for being topless where a man isn`t.

I'm looking forward to all of the meshes and textures that are coming out in February. We should get some really good stuff from the mods. Stuff we should have gotten with the vanilla game ... :whistling: (I'm half kidding. The designs were probably tested with people and the ones that made it to the game are the ones that the most people liked.)

By the way, some people might find your original post offensive.

There is also Noble Clothes but those are harder to come by. Ulfric uses a unique skin clothes and there is also this place where you can find Pleated Shoes and some interesting bracers. It's litterly a doorwall full of nothing but shoes

In my honest oppion all the fine clothes look like crap especially on a woman. There is some higher end middle clothes just called "clothes" no name whatsoever like the unqueness in other games. One is blue and the other is white typically worn by alchemists.

Not as good as on females. In fact if you have a house with a mannequin they are all "male" gender and will show the appearance of what it looks like on a man unless you're a male char yourself

When we did the "Fit for a Jarl" quest my female character was asked to model some clothes for Elisif the Fair. My first reaction was that this must be a joke. I thought the developers were poking fun at Taarie. The outfit looked horrible. I was literally embarrassed for my character. After that I began paying more attention to clothes in the game. My conclusion was that the more expensive the clothes, the worse they look.

Right now my character is still holding on to the Belted Tunic she found back at level 1. Nothing we've come across looks better, in my opinion. It's enough to make me feel nostalgic for Oblivion's clothes selection.

Thank you! Exactly. They did a fantastic job with farmer type clothes and, how should I call it, Peasant and Merchant wear they all look better than the more expensive clothes. In fact I'm going to show you an un-refined design of mine that I think looks much better than the crap they have nobles wearing currently.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v43/unokitsune/unokitsunenobledress.jpg This is currently a sketch as I'm not sure what colors to use, however the design is much easier on the eyes than that horrid noble/fine clothes

It hugs the waist more as a dress should and not some plain body-poofing jacket. The design encompasses feathers, gold/bronzed over pheasant for belt as well as a luxorious white snow sabre long shawl like attachment that comes around like a necklace with pendant around the front. It uses more silk bound near the boots with leather to protect it from dirt while walking around the dirty streets. Uses more fine stones and is a much better work of art.

I personally also refer to wearing mis-matched armor parts as cross-dressing

My characters mostly wear the green tunic and tavern clothes. The "better" clothing isn't indeed too nice looking.

Not sure about the materials, but the design in general is much more fitting for a medieval-period inspired game. (It maybe looks just a bit too Elizabethan, though.) Bethesda, hire this girl.

Oh the materials would be silk and fine cotton. Silk actually comes from the Silk Moth when it's in a worm state wrapped in a cocuun. In Skyrim there could very well be "Luna Silk" from the Luna Moth. There is Tundra Cotton. Plus dyeing it wouldn't be too much of a difficulty. On top of using feathers, leather and even fur

And thank you very much, like I said before I can design better than the crap they have designed for nobles in this game :(
