no crossbows in game standard loot? : V

So, Todd said in his GT interview a while back that you will be introduced to crossbows by joining the dawnguard...Does than mean than you would not be able to loot/buy them from anywhere else in the base game?

I think you probably will be able to get them elsewhere... but he said that to stop it sounding like the DLC only focuses on one faction... and the clips we saw about the VLs were very "WOW LOOK AT US!!" so they needed something to show for the dawnguard

It looks like the dawnguard hq is easily accessible, I imagine you can just walk in, grab a crossbow and walk out.

I am thinking there's a steel, and a Dwarven crossbow, perhaps the dwarven one would be a repeater crossbow?
I mean why would Daedra have Crossbows?

Im pretty sure that todd was saying you start the DLC by finding out -possibly joining/allying- with the dawnguard, and then finding out about the VLs.
So if they are Dawnguard exclusive... just pick one up on your way through

And I hope you can buy them or randomly find them because I was thinking of finally getting around to do the main quest, after seven months, with a nord that would use a crossbow for range and an axe up close.

I can imagine that the crossbows will be the Dawnguard signature weapon. I mean, you can't become a vampire lord as dawnguard, so I guess it is to even things out a bit and make the Dawnguard more interesting.

The Fallout 3 DLCs introduced some new items into the vanilla leveled lists. I'm hoping that Dawnguard will do the same, so we get random bandits in the game carrying crossbows.

theres nothing to imply that really, purely on what he said alone; you would be "introduced" to crossbows by the dawnguard, which merely means that is the first place you will find it.

i am guessing that you start the dlc quest by meeting some dawnguard people or are directed to do so. Even so, with out it being in standard loot. just having crossbows as part of the game files makes it easier for modders to improve and add even more features to crossbows by leaps and bounds.

I think they'll be added in random loot and on bandits and stuff. It would be rather stupid to add them to the game and then force everyone to start dawnguard to get one. I dunno though.

Everything you can pick up is lootable, including peices of crap like cups and brooms. You will be able to loot crossbows

In the interview Todd said that it would fit smoothly into the game because it would use the current Archery perk tree. So yes, you will be able to use the bow skills and perks you already have.

In some of the E3 footage, the crossbow was shown in what I recognized to be vanilla territory. So they should still be available.
