Crossbows in a variety of flavors? : V

I've got to know, are crossbows going to come in all of the vanilla Skyrim flavors? Elven, Dwemer, Daedric and all of that? I love the idea, I'm so excited that my khajiit finally gets another weapon type to use aside from a bow but I'm going to be sad if I'm stuck with one style of crossbow. I want to craft amazingly cool looking crossbows of all kinds with similarly fashioned bolts for them.

Has there been any word on different materials for them? If not, I was hoping to stir up a discussion and maybe find an official answer so we can either confirm or deny these suspicions.

Okay, thanks to some recent posts I'm happy to say that there are at least two types of crossbows, one of them being Dwarven.
Lets hope that there are even more, including the other vanilla materials.

I know this questions has been asked many times and in many different threads but it's one thing that I can't stop thinking about and I've not seen a topic dedicated to it as a whole so forgive me if there's already a discussion focused on this already, if I'm just late to the party feel free to lock, move, delete or merge this thread.

No-one knows yet, the information isn't available. I've only seen on version in all the screenshots and the E3 video.

I would hope so.
The ones that we've seen so far all look like steel crossbows. We can craft bows, so it would make sense to be able to craft crossbows, especially as we've been told we can craft bolts.

I think that so far, there is no named crossbow "artifact" with lore attached to it. I hope that Dawnguard will introduce such a "special" crossbow.

i'd be happy with 3 or 4 normal crossbows then perhaps an uber special crossbow of the gods

It'd be nice to get a unique legendary crossbow but I don't see that happening just yet.

I think Dwemer might be confirmed. There were some files found specifically mentioning it.

How many "Flavors" of Crossbow makes sense though. I'd actually rather have Crossbows stop at Ebony. I don't like the cookie-cutter "All weapons can be made of any material" approach. I really liked how you didn't see Blunt-based weapons (Aside from the staff) for Glass in Morrowind, or didn't see a Dwemer Bow. Like I said, it just made Morrowind's weapons feel a lot less "Cookie Cutter".

I think so. I noticed two different quiver types. One looked like a steel bolt quiver, the other looked like iron. I highly doubt they would invest in a single type of crossbow. I noticed a new type of bow in the videos. I think they're only showing the steel versions just because they want to have surprises for us come DLC day.

I hope so. I like the way the crossbow looks and it would look cool if it was made with ebony and daedric material.

i've just seen the one in the demos they've shown, i'm hoping for at least a dwemer crossbow.

just had a thought, if crossbows are added by dlc does that mean that future dlc cant add anymore? I know that new dlc can't be dependent on older dlc, atleast in new vegas

if we can now craft bolts we should be able to craft arrows as well. just my opinion.

Yeah, I share your opinion, and they may have changed it so that we can. I know bolts and arrows are different, but this is just a game, and we have no trouble crafting anything else.

The first time the pc transforms in the dawnguard trailer it looks like he has Dwemer bolts on his back. 20 seconds in.
