Now seriously fella's, you can't expect them to deliver it right away. Things like this take time, you can't just tell them about something and have it fixed within the hour, have patience. We all are going through the same thing. Trust when I say when they get this all fixed you will be enjoying this game immensely.

We've waited for over a year and coughed up anywhere from $50 to $70 for a game that we cannot practically play. Personally, I would think it sensible for a developer to make an overt expression of awareness of such an issue. Currently, what we have is one moderator in a non-pinned thread saying that it's being looked into. That's not to say that I don't appreciate Ratwar's effort, but I think an entity as paid as Bethesda could be doing a better job on the PR front.

Also, given Fallout 3's less-than-stellar history with patches, optimism is not an easy thing to muster in this situation.

And yes, the devs go home. They deserve a break. Games out, you can wait a day or a week for the fixes.

Pardon me? We can wait a day or a week for the fixes? You must be joking. We're complaining about things that should have been fixed in beta testing. The game should have never been released this way. If we need to wait a day or a week or two weeks for fixes, the game shouldn't have come out when it did. It should have come out a day or a week or two weeks later.

There have been problems with Steam (forcing retail copys to download the game), and a number of problems with pre-order codes that have been addressed.

So if there's been so many problems with Steam (which there clearly are), why are devs still using it as a source of DRM? I'm wondering why I should be forced to use the steamworks system when I bought the game disk fair and square, on top of having to wait an extra two hours after purchase because it hadn't been released on the west coast yet? I mean, really? If steam is such an issue, stop using it.

Many of these issues should have been fixed before the game was released. I lost 5 freaking hours due to the quicksaves and autosaves being lost from an apparently common bug. Also, Steam didn't let me play my game after I bought it at a midnight release, which was very frustrating. These problems together have lost me a good 7 hours or so, and I haven't even had the game for a whole day! This is really a slap in the face.

Same. I had exactly the same problems you had, and then some. The condition of this release is absurd.

Some say we should give them time and stop being so rude... why there so right. Why should we expect a game to work when it's released? It's so cheap and money is so abundant now days who cares? (sarcasm if you can't tell) This was the one thing we were looking forward to lately in this really crappy year, wouldn't have been able to afford it if we hadn't pre-ordered earlier before some financial hiccups hit us.

The games this company has released seem to follow this same ordeal though so I can't really say it's a surprise. And that is sad.

Unfortunately I know how corporations work, not that damn blond, and think all we are ever going to get is some duct tape patch like before and some ego stroking telling us it will be OK, how they love our support and send us on our way. Companies that use celeb's for launch parties for the sheeple instead of a fan access launch kind of tell their agenda right there. Pipe out butterflies and flowers and make that toxic landfill look like a exotic resort.

Bethesda CS seems to be lacking, I got them on the phone after an hr of being on hold. Got some outsourced asian who used a yahoo search to try and help me... ( needless to say he was useless and told me to call steam ((must not know how valve practices buisness)) Seriously? This is [censored].

Dear Bethesda/Oblivion,
Show them please. Read:(topic)

Thank you,
Long time fan and payer of your paycheck.

p.s. We all just want a piece/smidge/taste/smear/twinge of remark or awareness from you that you are giving the appropriate attention to the needs of your players in fixing the significant bugs that are plaguing, what seems to be a large amount of us. We all do understand that this is a very large project and that you care about your community, but the lack of response/customer service you are currently giving us isn't acceptable at a fast food restaurant.

I agree wholeheartedly. Those of us who spend considerable time and money on these titles deserve better. If these developers spent 1 tenth the time on PC issues as they do the XBag or the BS3 we wouldn't gripe as much.....period!I spent 35 years in customer service and if my team would have ignored a substancial contributor to our wallets as some developers do,we wouldn't have had jobs long. Some developers need to take Bioware and Blizzard lessons.I do believe they have relatively popular games with a fairly large following.Of course I could be mistaken.

Never, ever buy a Bethesda game on release date. This is SOP for them. Always wait for the GOTY edition and official/unofficial Patches and mods. They've been doing this since the Arena days. Gaming concepts and ideas are their strong suit, not coding/QA.

Well, I'm not waiting on anything... I have yet to buy the game... don't know if I'm going to buy it or not... leaning towards not... anyway, it'd surely be nice to work for a company who does a major release and the troubleshooters just go home because their 8 hours are up, and whose customers don't mind waiting a week for a fix to a new product for which they just paid full retail. They wouldn't last long in banking, or telco.

poryan1010, while I understand your frustration, I ask you to please bear with us. The two main Bethesda PR guys on this forum (Nick Breckon and Gstaff) are on the east coast, where it's 11:00 PM, and I know they've both been running around trying to put out fires all day long. Rest assured, there are people listening to the complaints, and taking note.

really?

cuz all the problems with new vegas are the same ones fallout 3 had at launch. its been 3 years and they havent fixed them. i dont really know why everyone is so shocked this game doesnt work.

I think this is the best advice on here. I think there should be a "Collectors Edition" of the GOTY edition instead of a collectors edition of the release version. I know I would MUCH rather have that.

I sure as hell hope that who ever signed off on the release date of this bug ridden mess loses their [censored] job. If this incompetence occurred at my business I would expect nothing less than to never see my customers again. I'm still sitting at my computer chair in disbelief that I've paid $60 to be a beta tester AGAIN. To think I actually thought to myself there is no bloody way New Vegas will be a [censored] fest of bugginess of epic proportions like Fallout 3 was...boy was I wrong.

This is my first and probably last post on this forum and in the future I will be speaking with my wallet, by NEVER giving Bethesda another cent of my hard earned money.

SHAME on this company, SHAME on Quality Control, SHAME on whoever signed off on releasing this [censored] and Shame on the fanbois that seem to think releasing buggy garbage and wasting hours of ones time trying to get a newly released game working is perfectly normal and ok.

Occasional updates would be nice, but we haven't heard a single word from anyone official, not even "we are aware of the issues and are working on it".

Actually thats a little lie, the devs were here today, posting in a meet and greet thread.

PR guys? What are the PR guys going to do about technical issues? Say they are sorry?
You mean to tell me the makers of the game just do a nationwide release with couple hundred thousand pre-sold copies and simply go home to sleep and play? Brilliant!

PR guys or otherwise it doesn't matter... For a game running on an engine that is 2 games and what 6 years old to have frame rate issues you know the entire company dropped the ball before release. Sure they are going to tell us "We understand the issue and are looking into it" and will patch it at some point (long after that are work arounds found by players). I mean what else are they going to say, what else -CAN- they say?

What I'm getting at is we shouldn't be asking them to just pat us on the head and say everything will be ok. Software companies are getting away with too much crap like this and just let it slide more and more because the consumers don't demand more. What I'd like to hear from Bethesda is how they released a -DATED- engine in a none working state? I want that complete oversight explained... same type of thing I want from ever other half a$$ed release from other companies, but I know it'll never happen because too few demand it from them.

To be perfectly honest I wish I hadn't bought NV, didn't like Oblivion or FO3, but I love the Fallout setting and I -thought- Obsidian would get us back to a good Fallout game. Actually from what I've seen there might be massive improvements over FO3, but I don't know because I can't freaking play the damn game what with constant crashes, saves that don't work, and crap frame rate.

It's just pathetic and Bethesda doesn't deserve the money they've already made because of these issues. All a release like this does is scare of the fence sitters right off the bat, they'll never come back after reading stuff like this and you can't blame them for it. Better to delay the damn thing, or spend more money on testing to sell more copies over all, to bad the exec's have no concept of quality.

It's funny because it's true. We schmucks who pre-order are the beta testers. We pay them to do the work for them. Talk about a great scam; I think even P.T. Barnum would be envious.

Some aren't just testing either, some are actually finding workarounds for the issues which also helps them figure out how to fix it. I wasn't thinking about this until you posted this, but I can't help but wonder if companies are doing that on purpose knowing it's part of the gaming 'culture' now for techies to find fixes on their own. Instead of the company using their own resources or delaying to solve issues.

Very conspiracy theory sounding I know. But we've all known software in general (not just games) don't have delayed releases because they can just get a patch out there when they have it fixed plus getting the aid from the masses without having to pay them. From a cutthroat business/money making perspective it makes perfect sense. From a entertainment quality/customer relations aspect it's a total dike move. But really, which of those two matters more to most companies?...

Then you could make sure that theres no game reviews until after launch because you know they're going to address the bugs.
Then you can have all complaints on youtube removed for copyright infringments.

Igns 360 review:
Fallout: New Vegas uses the same engine as Fallout 3 and comes with the same technical issues. Animations have no weight to them, lip synching ranges from good to non-existent and the artificial intelligence is dumber than a rock. More often than not you'll run across an enemy or ally who just can't seem to figure out how to get around that corner. These flubs are certainly humorous, but the choppy framerate and terrible load times are no laughing matter. Load times on consoles range from annoying to downright painful, ranging from 30 seconds to two minutes. New Vegas can run smoothly, but also slows down or freezes intermittently, so save often.

If Obsidian and Bethesda had polished up the game by fixing the AI, improving the animations or even gotten it to run smoothly, perhaps it would feel less like a giant expansion of Fallout 3 and more like its own game

Sounds pretty accurate... I only got NV because I hoped Obsidian would make a better story and RPG and I think they might have. But fighting through the bugs of Bethesda's engine make it too hard to play until some are fixed.

Recently I have noticed reviewers being much less swept along with the hype post release and will review the code that they received - not a 3 month patched version. Look how they shred the game Elemental which is now much better post a numerous amount of patches. Hopefully this emerging trend continues.
