Customer service ethics.

Dear Bethesda/Oblivion,
Show them please. Read:(topic)

Thank you,
Long time fan and payer of your paycheck.

p.s. We all just want a piece/smidge/taste/smear/twinge of remark or awareness from you that you are giving the appropriate attention to the needs of your players in fixing the significant bugs that are plaguing, what seems to be a large amount of us. We all do understand that this is a very large project and that you care about your community, but the lack of response/customer service you are currently giving us isn't acceptable at a fast food restaurant.

Heck, even McDonald's gave me a free cheeseburger for poor customer service!

poryan1010, while I understand your frustration, I ask you to please bear with us. The two main Bethesda PR guys on this forum (Nick Breckon and Gstaff) are on the east coast, where it's 11:00 PM, and I know they've both been running around trying to put out fires all day long. Rest assured, there are people listening to the complaints, and taking note.

PR guys? What are the PR guys going to do about technical issues? Say they are sorry?
You mean to tell me the makers of the game just do a nationwide release with couple hundred thousand pre-sold copies and simply go home to sleep and play? Brilliant!

Public Relations passes the info on. The coders and modelers aren't coming to the forums saying they're working on it.

And yes, the devs go home. They deserve a break. Games out, you can wait a day or a week for the fixes.

They're going to talk about them, so the developers can concentrate on fixing them, rather than talking about them.

Not exactly, they function as liaisons between the community and various teams, so they will be gathering information and passing it on to whatever team needs it. Once the team(s) have something to say, they pass it along to the PR guys, who pass it along to us. Standard corporate personnel structure.

The actual code monkeys will most probably be burning the midnight oil, considering the widespread severity of the issues.

Seriously, though, I own a small business in tech, and this qualifies as a customer crisis. This many people having this serious a problem? On launch day? If Bethesda had been my company and I was releasing a major title like this, I'd have 24 hour support up for *at least* the first 48 hours following launch.

This is ridiculous.

Actually I can't wait a week...the bug that's plaguing me is the game crashing during the opening cinematic and I haven't even got to play the game yet. So yeah...I understand they're busy, not complaining about that, but don't just assume everyone's problems are minor and that they can wait.

Nice to see a fellow GT fan!
I was really looking forward to playing this game all day today as it was the last day of my fall break.
But I guess it's not too bad knowing that Beth is working on the issue.

Come on, now. Most people posting on here right now are posting about problems that render the game unplayable. If the game is effectively broken for a large number of users, it's not acceptable to wait a day or a week for fixes. The game shouldn't come out until it's working. Better a release date delay than a POS that doesn't work.

Well, I'm not waiting on anything... I have yet to buy the game... don't know if I'm going to buy it or not... leaning towards not... anyway, it'd surely be nice to work for a company who does a major release and the troubleshooters just go home because their 8 hours are up, and whose customers don't mind waiting a week for a fix to a new product for which they just paid full retail. They wouldn't last long in banking, or telco.

Putting out what fires? Would you mind telling us what fires they "tried" to put out? I haven't seen anything useful posted by anyone other than other frustrated customers that have tried (for 20+ hours) to help other frustrated customers out...

I doubt we'll be able to fully play for a couple of days. Hell for hours earlier in the day the devs had a meet and greet on this forum instead of addressing any issues. They seem to be taking a page from Valve on this one.

Gstaff is atleast good people, I was speaking with him and shortly after he got my info and forwarded it steamsupport had contacted me, their "fix" seems to have done more harm than good though...

There have been problems with Steam (forcing retail copys to download the game), and a number of problems with pre-order codes that have been addressed.

Now seriously fella's, you can't expect them to deliver it right away. Things like this take time, you can't just tell them about something and have it fixed within the hour, have patience. We all are going through the same thing. Trust when I say when they get this all fixed you will be enjoying this game immensely.

There's alot of stuff to wade through at this point, could someone make a sticky regarding how many actual fixes there are? I'd like to know about the bonuses, I've forced the game to play for a few minutes and can do it again (my issue was the steam connectivity). While I am playing though I have no preorder goodies at all.

Many of these issues should have been fixed before the game was released. I lost 5 freaking hours due to the quicksaves and autosaves being lost from an apparently common bug. Also, Steam didn't let me play my game after I bought it at a midnight release, which was very frustrating. These problems together have lost me a good 7 hours or so, and I haven't even had the game for a whole day! This is really a slap in the face.
