Daedric Or Dragon?

You would have to be insane to wear dragonbone willingly.

The mentioned armor cap may not exist at all or is simply a bug. According to the wikis is it not clear when it applies and the discussion on it is at best confuse. I could see damage reductions of up to 87% with very high armor ratings. It is fairly easy to get an armor rating of 600, which also speaks against it, because it makes most of the Smithing skill tree pointless just after steel (one should be able to get to 500-600 with only a steel armor). Some players have used it as an excuse for not trying to get higher armor ratings, which is sad.
So me having 1150 armor rating with my jacked up deadric armor doesn't matter? Or does it?

It does matter. However, the UESP wiki will tell you that there is an invisible cap at 567.

For comparison, one can improve hide armor, which is the weakest light armor, to around 600 with only standard smithing potions and gear from shops. If this cap would exist then any perk in the Smithing tree would be only cosmetic with regards to armor smithing. And without dragon weapons does the dragon perk in smithing become obsolete.

Do both armors have the same enchantments?

example: i can only use the armor and helmet for magic enchanting for daedric, can you use more magic enchants with dragon armor? say you can use the gauntlets for magic also????

With Skyrim can you not bind any enchantment to any item. For example, one can bind Fortify One-Handed to rings, necklaces, gauntlets and boots, and Fortify Archery can be enchanted on rings, necklaces, gauntlets and helmets (the difference is boots versus helmet here).

The strength of the effect does not depend on the item's quality. For example, a silver ring is just as good as a gold diamond ring.

Personally I like the Daedric Armor over Dragonplate. At the end of the day, It just looks better wearing Daedric Gauntlets when you beat down, then choke-slam an enemy.

On the note of Armor Cap: I have an armor rating of over 1200. Does that mean that once I hit 800, I was wasting my enchantment spaces with fortify Heavy Armor?

Steel Plate...it's a solid choice of armour.

I tend to think that Dragon and Daedric isn't worth the trouble in real terms, because after a point when you reach the cap (which is at 567, I believe) it only matters for eye candy sake.

people might say yes, but the answer is no in my opinion,. I can tel lthe difference between my daedric armor with armor points enchanted, and my daedric armor enchanted with magic enchantments. hits that are scratches with armor enchantments lower my hp bar, where before it wouldnt even lower, as it was so low of a hit.

With my daedric armor enchancted up, dragons did very little damage, now, i'm having to be a tad more cautios as their flying shots, are doing damage and bar lowering.

Assuming this cap exists, then yes, did you already wasted the spaces at an armor rating of 567.

Believing that it does not exist do I still think that one can put better enchantments onto an armor than to fortify it. Fire, frost and shock resistance become more important as they will take care of the non-physical damage. Health, stamina and magicka buffers can also be better against some attacks than just the armor rating.

Also damage fortifications become more useful, but that is just my own personal preference.

The fire and frost attacks by dragons count as non-physical attacks and increasing fire and frost resistance helps rather than your armor rating, which only protects against physical attacks.

There is no mentioning of a cap with regards to fire, frost, shock and poison resistance. There is however, according to UESP Wiki, a cap of 85% for magic resistance. I have not tested it and magical resistance seems to be hard to increase in general.

I use a self-made potion to give me fire and frost resistance for 60 seconds and I use it for fighting elder and ancient dragons. At my skill and with my perks can I brew one with 95% frost and fire resistance. No more bother from above.
