Here I am again with a new UI overhaul. :) This one will be more or less identical to http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1121454-wipzbeta-darnified-ui-f3/, with FONV's extra menus DarNified as well.

I've just launched the game for the first time, so be patient while I decide the best way forward. I'll likely go menu by menu and release as they're treated, so you can test them as I go. The font changes will mean the menus not yet DarNified will look weird at first.

Screens:

These are WIP

Downloads:

http://ui.darnified.net/wip/DUIFONV/v1/DUINVv01.7z - Extract to "FONV\Data\".

Edit the ini like so:

[Fonts];sFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_1=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_14.fnt;sFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_2=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_16.fntsFontFile_3=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_Medium.fnt;sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\Monofonto_VeryLarge02_Dialogs2.fnt;sFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_FranKleinBold_Otl_12.fntsFontFile_4=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_10.fntsFontFile_5=Textures\Fonts\Fixedsys_Comp_uniform_width.fnt;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Monofonto_VL_dialogs.fnt;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_PetitaMedium_Outline_18.fnt;sFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Forgotten_Futurist_Otl_18.fntsFontFile_6=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Sui_Generis_Otl_13.fnt;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\Baked-in_Monofonto_Large.fntsFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Libel_Suit_Otl_24.fnt;sFontFile_7=Textures\Fonts\DarN_Klill_Outline_20.fntsFontFile_8=Textures\Fonts\Glow_Futura_Caps_Large.fntsFontFile_9=Textures\Fonts\NVFont_Test.fnt

If using the launcher, edit Fallout_default.ini in the game dir to get these settings to stick. The launcher resets the ini to the values from this file. Backup the original first.
If you're bypassing the launcher, you can edit Fallout.ini directly: "My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Fallout.ini". Backup the original first.

NOTE: When reporting bugs, there's no substitute for a good screenshot to describe a problem.

The PipBoy Menus, Start Menu, and all FONV original content has not been touched yet. Keep an eye out for NV specific items in old menus - I have not played much at all, so haven't seen all areas of the UI yet.

Enjoy! :)

Wow. The ini resets to default, at least for the Fonts section. No new fonts = no UI. :banghead:

To fix this problem you need to add your Fallout.ini tweaks that you want to appear in your My Games/New Vegas folder to the Fallout_default.ini in the Steam/Common/New Vegas folder so when it resets the My Games stuff, it will use your modified Fallout_default.ini version as the replacement. That is one of the many bugs it seems that Steam has brought to the table, you will also have the FalloutPrefs.ini file reset a lot too. Hopefully this little tip means we might see some sort of release today.

So far I have been adding .ini tweaks to the FalloutPrefs.ini in the my games/New Vegas folder and that one hasn't reset for me yet.

Edit: Actually, I'm not so sure about that now...

It's the launcher that does it. FallOutPrefs seems unchanged as far as the Fonts section is concerned. Fallout.ini just gets the values from Fallout_default.ini. It keeps crashing with new fonts though... Why they insist on using that launcher even when FalloutNV.exe is started directly is beyond me. <_<

So you're saying that adding the fonts to the FalloutPrefs does nothing ingame? Or that they are also reverted? What if you make your changes to FalloutPrefs and then set it as a read-only file?

Just random guessing here. The crashing issue sounds bad though. If it happens in the fallout_default ini it'll probably happen with other inis too if they work...

Looking forward to the new Darn UI....

This seems like one of the only MUST HAVE mods for me right now...
Sadly I cant even think of what I want to do for modding right now myself right now because the more I play the more I actually like the current balance.. heh

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34935, run the game without being forced to use the stupid launcher.

Also, is it possible to make your DarNified UI compatible with AsukaHUD? http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34746

I'd also love if you could fit all the status thingies for hardcoe (sleep, h20, food, etc) into just one screen, instead of being forced to scroll through a lot of em just to see when I have to drink...

Love ya! ;)

The section in FalloutPrefs is left alone. The game doesn't use all sections from that file. What needs to be done is editing Fallout_default.ini to the correct values. The launcher will then transfer these to the std. ini file. Figured out the crashing issue - I simply forgot to create the fonts folder, and put the fonts in textures. :D

Thanks for the batch file idea - works great. :)

AsukaHUD seems to be a texture replacer. If so, it's compatible.

I know it's physically impossible but I want to have your babies!

Anyways, some people reported that setting the files to read-write permissions fixes it. Also, I made all my changes to the FalloutPrefs.ini and they worked.

Looking forward to using your UI (been using it since Obllivion).

Suggestion: move the H2O, FOD and SLP to the main stats page. Something like http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/images/34913-1-1287711879.jpg from http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34913. Gop crazy with everything else :D

I'll probably do that - I've already merged some stats pages in DUIF3. I have no pipboy yet though.

I refuse to play New Vegas any longer (which hasn't been long at all so far) until it has been DarNified! :trophy:

I agree with using something similar to PipWares stats page. Everything in one. It's what I'm using now.

@ povuholo
You could use some of the other UIs that popped up lately. It's not DarNUI but it something.

@ DarN
Just finish up with Doc Mitchel, you'll get your PipBoy ~5min in the game.

Excellent :D I had not realized how dependent i'd become of your UI for F3. Suddenly everything seems so unnecessarily large and inefficient ;)
