[WIPZ] DarNified UI FONV

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:59 am

Hey DarN once this is released will it work fine with the Interface Mod - Revelation [ http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34971#fileanchor ] or would we need to wait for a patch so they get along?

There will probably be a patch requirement of some sort.

You're a saint Darn. Though, it's a shame that you're having to do this for a third installment.

Is there anything that someone without any technical prowess in the development of a mod could help you with?

You can help by testing once I release. Some of these menus have areas I haven't seen yet, so who knows what kind of a mess I've created. :)

The work is already done in DUIF3 - I'm just making the necessary changes required for FONV. :)

You've seen most if not all the menus. There aren't that many.

Negative. I know how many there are - I'm changing them, remember?

I mean the difference from Fallout 3 to New Vegas is basically non-existant.

That may not be true. If they changed the XML behind the menus it could be a lot of changes. Without looking at the differences, we have no idea what's involved.

And DarN usually does ALL the interface, there are some new screens to play with.

Give Mr Darn the time he needs to make his brilliant UI, while the difference may not seem that great, there are the little things, all of which has to be adjusted, like the new Str req on weapons, Repair/Maintain indicator, new tabs on the pipboy. Ive waited long for New Vegas, I belive I can give the skilled DarN the time he needs to make it right, and to once again make one of the vital, if not the most necessary mod, for all games using the Oblivion/Fallout 3 Engine.

That ended up sounding a wee bit too "let me have your child" - anyways, its a freakin good mod, and he's only had the game for a while, FO3 wasnt the same without DarN UI, and New Vegas sure as heck aint either, im a scavanager by nature, picking up anything that isnt glued or bolted to a surface, looking forward to not spending 5min scrolling from top to bottom of the inventory. Or just the fact that the UI is build for something like 800x600 resolution, making me able to sit in the next room and still clearly read it (Big Font, anyone?) so his UI is a need for me, should be added to the hardcoe stuff, a Water, Food, Sleep and DarN UI need.

Hi DarN,

I signed up just to say that I am eagerly awaiting the release and that you've done a great job with the HUD. I haven't played Fallout 3 so I'm not familiar with the HUD in action, but I know that I love it.

Just a small bit of criticism if I may: the font that you use for the confirmation buttons (Accept, Exit), loading screens, and NPC speech are shared right? If so, that's the one I don't like much. I think it'd look nicer if you switched it to the standard one that you use for all other text.

Keep up the good work!

I made a forum account just to tell you how excited I am about this. Your work increases Bethesda playability by at least 80%. My eyes can only take so much.

LOL! If that changes, just let us know when to call Mr. Soprano, mkay?

So here the first menu I had to wrestle a bit with. DPS and DAM now swap/fade in place it seems. Just moved STR to the right.

Sweet. About that DPS/DAM thingie...
Would it be possible to separate those in each menu they show up in, and show them at the same time, side by side?

Awesome! xD And the day you get it you promptly start fixing the UI. Gotta love your dedication.

Honestly I find it unbelieveable that Bethesda/Obsidian did not contact you about making PC UI for them. The abomination that is vanilla makes the game borderline unplayable, especially after being used to your UIs.

Seriously, what the hell?

Btw I am using MTUI now, but I CANNOT wait to switch over to your magnificent work.

This!

DarNified UI for F3 and Oblivion were the first mods I ever installed, even before starting the game for the first time, this is the first time I've used the default UI, and it's really, really bad. Just goes to show how much of an effect the UI can have on the experience.

I thought so too after a quick glance, but the differences are of a somewhat tricky nature. Some of the additions they've made aren't always visible (hardcoe indicators, etc), which means the only way to properly edit these is to actually play the game.

The button font is only a config setting away...

Ah! I wondered what those were for. I saw them in code, but not on screen. :)

I'm not too sure. Space is getting pretty cramped down there now...

This! I freaking hate the fade between the two!

Any way to lengthen that part slightly and show something like, for example: "DAM/DPS 5/15"?

Or maybe shorten the Strength listing at the end for more space, since that shouldn't require any more than room for two digits.

This might work. It'll have to wait in line for a lot of other stuff though.
