[REQ] DarnUI

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:16 pm

It's been a necessity since Oblivion for me and hope Darn would be so kind as to create a version for New Vegas? :tops:

Perhaps http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1121454-wipzbeta-darnified-ui-f3/ will help.

Just gotta give him time to get it out the door.

Edit: look at post 16

That is some good news as I really cannot play Fallout now without my Darn UI and modded character so at least with the GECK, the mods may be slowly making their way over from Fallout 3.

It just amazes me that they didn't incoprorate DarnUI directly into the game ... they did think of it tho:

To tide yourselves over, consider replacing FO:NV's fonts with the DarNUI fonts. It helps a little... not as much as the full mod but at least it gets you in the mood!

I 100% agree.

Using the current / default interface after using DarnUI for over a year with Fallout3 is like going back to Black and White TV.

What actually Hurts is the fact that we can't see the hardcoe mode essentials (hunger, thirst, sleep) on the UI somewhere - I find this particularly "missing".

Save us DarN!

You don't see bars - just indicators, which are, mind you, a fair bit more realistic.
When you're hungry, you don't know you're ten precent hungry - you just know you're feelin' like a snack. It's a rather interesting implementation compared to mods.

I don't have the game in front of me, but the Pipboy does have bars for hunger, thirst and sleep in a display similar to your rad count. They're pointlessly on separate screens from each other, but you can get to them on the status screen, I believe.

Darn, darn and DARN!

You forgot DarN. :P

From the FO3 thread:

Preloading FONV now. :D

Blasted Steam. All the files are encrypted. I'll have to wait until the 22. to check out the menus. :(

:nuke:
A kind soul provided some unencrypted menu files for me to look at. I ran a quick diff check, and believe it or not, all files came up identical. So in theory DUIF3 should work with FONV out of the box. :D

Someone try it please?

Yes, someone please do. :D

(Don't forget to back up files first)

According to the DUI page, FOSE is required for the in-game settings menu. AFAIK, there is no FOSE for New Vegas yet. Would this create a problem?

Only if you used the FOSE .esp file (which is optional). Then again, using the Darn .esp file at all might pose a problem.

He's taking a look at it now, apparently the person who gave him the initial extracted bsa menu file, gave him the old version. he's got the one from NV now, and is seeing what's up.

17 files from the original menus are modified. Incorporating the NV changes in those should be easy. After that it's just a matter of DarNifying the new menus (blackjack menu, etc.). I won't be able to try it out until the 22nd though, so be patient. :)

Have I told you lately how much I love you DarN? Well I do! I always come looking for DUI and praying it wont take too long. I've got 15 minutes of play on my saves and decided to start over......once I have DUI. The top must have of "must have mods"!!!

Heck, I'd be satisfied with him doing the parts that didn't require FOSE.. Just gotta get more text lines in there badly, with all of the new junk one winds up carrying around.. I wish they had made a Crafting page specifically for all of that.
