Dawngaurd: start over or max out?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 7:07 am

Right now i have two characters. a lvl 42 and one that i just recently started. With Dawngaurd releasing, in your opinion, based of of what has been released would it be more effective to go in with a early stage character or a well developed character? Considering, I am sure there will be no stats/perks released to help advance a character

Maybe i haven't read much into the details of the add-on, but i'm on the wall about taking a break from Skyrim 'till its released or continuing on.

Max out.

Those vamps look like they're troublemakers, so you might as well be prepared to bring the heavy freight. And lots of bubble gum.

As a roleplayer, my suggestion would be 'wait and see where the roleplay takes you' - it's much more rewarding than making a character just for one Questline.

But in terms of your two options ... I'd say start afresh.

It depends how the enemies are scaled. Obviously, if they are a min of level 25, you don't want to take the daughter home at level 5.

I seem to have read somewhere that there will be something based on the side you take in the CW and who is in charge. So That would also suggest a level 20+ character.

EDIT: By max out, I assume you mean level 50. I doubt you would need to be anywhere close to that. I guess 25-30.

Max out

Spoiler
looks like you need an elder scroll. It might be a new one acquired through the Dawnguard questline, or the one acquired at the end of the vanilla questline. If its the vanilla one, then you're going to have to pretty much beat the MQ in order to get it. I don't think you'd want to do that more than once.

Agreed! Do not start over dude. Remember that certain places in Skyrim are high-leveled so since this dlc is coming out "after Skyrim" I suggest you focus on leveling up your character. At the very least, starting over means you risk bringing a low-level character to a high-level questing area. So focus on maxing.

Thanks for the suggestions.
there really cant be any disadvantage to maxing out. To clarify, by maxing out i mean, getting to the point where leveling is pretty hard since your primary skills are at 100. for me that's being a lvl 45

I'll be taking my leveled characters. I have no interest in starting all over again just to do the expansion.

I was thinking about starting over as well, mostly because I would like to play through most of the game's faction content with the new gear and powers that might be added.

I've started a new character.

He'll probably be 30ish and out of quests to do by the time the xpack comes out.

I already have two legendary adventurers. I don't know why I wouldn't use them. Although, if there was a third faction, I would make a new character for that.

I will continue making new characters up into Dawnguard so why not both.
I do intend to remake my current characters after the final patch because all of my saves are bugged beyond belief.

It really depends on scaling. In Shivering Isles you could jump into pretty much whenever you wanted. In Tribunal, unless you were at a pretty high level you got your ass handed to you by a few goblins.

I'm starting with one of my level 50 characters, I've been waiting for an excuse to turn him evil.

they are demons i think no chance of vampires......they feed on the " souls " of the dead not blood. so demons like in supernatural and the dawnguard are like the brothers.

I will start again, because I dont like to play in a world that has changed suddenly. I like to start in a world that is that way all the time, dont care if the vampires crap me out.

Obviously gonna be a new one since we could sell it. The Elder Scroll in the trailer is gold anyway. The other one was white.
