It definitely wasn't three hours ago. Three hours ago, Pete Hines refused to disclose an estimated time for the release of the codes in the event that there was some sort of delay.

Im sure that we would be informed of any changes. If you really want conformation, every one will get an update on the softwere when its relesed, to support the new gamer points on xbox live.

It won't "end". When the DLC comes out everyone that has it will get an update that fixes some bugs. The codes they give out are for the ACTUAL DLC. So everyone that gets in will not pay for it. When it comes out to the public, Beta testers will already have it.
