A question for those of you who have played the beta; I'm really not into vampires, I have no interest in them at all (not just Skyrim but any other game, any film, any book etc). So my question is, given that I don't like vampires is there enough non vampire stuff in Dawnguard to interest me?

well the Dawnguard are not vampires, you can seemingly get their Stronghold as your base, and get weapons from them. Maybe some other things, but the DLC has two sides, not just 1 side.

But I'm glad this DLC is also about vampires, not just hunting them, but also the freedom to join them and help them win, as well as benefit from their awesome castle and abilities.

That's something that no other videogame and most stories don't offer in their experiences. They might to some degree but still nothing like what Dawnguard DLC is offering for vampires.

And besides the strongholds there's new stuff like that oblivion location and new enemies, and stuff.

I personally don't like vampires in the sense I don't like any vampire movies, I like Castlevania, but that's just pretty much from the hunter side. Alucard doesn't count because 1. they are half vampire 2. they don't do vampire things besides bat/wolf/mist abilities that are brief. 3. they can easily be mistaken for a knight that like uses swords (like generic warriors in action adventure).

Also things like Castlevania lack the freedom, customization and openness on TES.

So many things about TES and Skyrim can give vampires a more immersive and amazing experiences.

Plus Dawnguard DLC looks to really be the first vampire experience that's quite revolutionary with the freedom and openness and story centric nature to it.

Yes in Oblivion you had vampires but those stories are not even at the level of Dawnguard DLC. and were not as rewarding as Dawnguard DLC appears to offer.

So this really is amazing from a vampires standpoint. You may see them a lot in movies and some videogames but those are no where near the experience like this can bring.

I agree that if you like your vampires then this is going to be a great DLC (enjoy it guys  )
My disinterest in vampires extends to hunting them unfortunatly but you make a good point that this DLC should be a fresh experience vampire wise.

I am in the company of vampires and I still frequent here. It's nice to see all of your ideas and how they correlate to the actual product.
I believe we're not allowed to talk about how many post, and whatnot. However, I can say that we have a very mature and solid group testing, unlike what many who didn't get in assume. ("Oh, I bet everybody who gets in won't even test bugs!") We're actually doing quite well, but that's all I'll say.
You two are taking far too many breaks :stare:

Ah so you're a beta tester? I'm glad you're enjoying and think it's really good. Given my above posts, am I still likely to enjoy Dawnguard?

From something I got when I googled for Dawnguard Spoilers. There were others for weapons and ingredients but they just seemed unimportant. And I guess we should just take this with a grain of salt but meh, better than nothing.

New Shouts
  • Drain Vitality - Coax both magical and mortal energies from hapless opponent.
  • Summon Durnehviir - Summons the undead dragon Durnehviir from the Soul Cairn
  • Soul Tear - Rips the soul out of an opponent and turns them into an ally.

Well, if the testers are doing a good job, then hopefully we'll get the scheduled release date, not any delays. Although the beta testers saying how good Dawnguard is doesn't help me to wait for the release date XD

Trust me, it's a load of bs. And don't worry, if it is indeed a leak, it's already been brought to the attention of GStaff.

Like the Dunehviir one (or however you spell it) is bs because we already have a very similar shout, do we not?

unlike Mages Guild, this time I will talk to all of the people before the quest person. I finished Mages Guild after I did the member quests that would of made more sense to complete them before completing Mages Guild main questline.

The thing is though, even if I had done all the member quests beforehand, Mages Guild still felt like the most artificial sense of progression, and didn't feel rewarding every step of the way.

If I recall in TESIV, as you gradually advance in Mages Guild, you would be handed the next rank's clothes (you didn't have to buy them), and overall it felt more natural, and overall made things better.

I find that site is usually just BS. But it was the only thing I found in my lazy attempt to uncover some Dawnguard secrets so I figured I'd post it anyway. You know, just in case.

Indeterminate? Umm, you are only waiting 30 days.

I guess you could say I'm biased since I play on 360(I play PC once all the big mods are completed), but Beth has released a lot of free content, such as mounted combat, underwater visuals etc. so they need money SOMEHOW, and MS just so happens to be the one to pitch up.

I can't complain, personally, since I use Xbox (my PC is far too crappy and outdated), but it could be quite a pain to have to wait, especially with something like Dawnguard. All the hype will make spoilers pop up EVERYWHERE starting on the 26th, and the only way to avoid it would be to cease communication with the outside world (or play Skyrim a lot, that could help with it)

No, it is currently indeterminate. 30 days is a contractually stipulated minimum. Bethesda has to wait at least 30 days after the 360 release date before releasing it on PC and PS3. That does not mean that it will be released precisely 30 days later. In fact, it is unlikely that they would choose a date precisely 30 days later, since new releases are often done on certain days of the week, and because they will want to be able to pick a date for the launch when they can support it properly. Also, at E3, while they discussed the (stil tentative) 360 release date, Todd Howard said that he did not know when the PC and PS3 date would be. In all likelihood they will wait until after the 360 launch to set a release date, and when they select a release date, they will consider all the factors they usually consider when making such decisions. It will probably be longer than 30 days - hopefully not too much longer though.

I hope the beta testers do both story lines (Vampires&Dawnguard) to test all the quests and such, I don't need more bugged up glitchy Skyrim content.
Yeah, I know I am. I'm pretty sure mostly everyone is doing both. By the way, 39th? Woah.

I'm pretty sure by "30 days" Beth means a month.

And the only date that isnt confirmed is Xbox's release. PS3/PC is a month after Xbox. That is set in stone. Xbox's release isnt.
