"Dawnguard" - The First Skyrim DLC?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:30 am

bet it has something to do with azura- possibly blacklight province of morrowind.
silgrad team wont like that, but im willing to bet thats what they want. i had a feeling that they wanted to do something more alien and creative again since shivering isles.

The Blacklight province looks like perfect 'DLC material'. As a piece of land, it's just the right size to be counted like an expansion pack. Also note that vanilla Skyrim has a 'Gate to Morrowind'http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gQGcCi0m0U near its border which seems very odd as no past elder scrolls game had something like that. Why would Bethesda go into the effort to make a gate which you cannot enter anyway (you get the infamous 'turn back' message)? Since Morrowind is basically destroyed by the time TESV:Skyrim takes place, it would be nice to revisit even a part of it again.

it's funny how everyone goes so crazy about these gates I personally believe their just to show that it's at a border and you can't go there. also I think Beth will want to keep out of other provinces with each game keeping to their own province

It is just a gate for realism...There is some leading into Cyrodiil too. In Oblivion north east of Gnoll Mountain I belive, there is a path leading into Skyrim.

Azura was my thought too, being twilight and all that but I think it is unlikely after the Shivering Isles to have another expansion based around the Daedra so soon, but ya never know...

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/340862/is-dawnguard-the-first-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-dlc/

"Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media has filed a trademark for Dawnguard, sparking speculation that it could be the name of an upcoming DLC expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

While the trademark is for "computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices," it could of course be for another title, but that just wouldn't be as fun, would it?
"
Thanks for this info, may be old news yeah, but at least I finally found out about this trademark.

I bet it's just going to be a castle near Dawnstar that you can buy and live in.

Bethesda already stated they weren't going for that type of small DLCs. So expect something big.

I hope something to do with the Thalmor. Using the Mythic Dawn right now (out of the Skyrim cameo) would be really out of place.

OK, since the thread warrants it: here's what I (wildly) speculate: the DLC will focus on the Thalmor and high elves who have made their mission to destroy the dominance of mankind in Tamriel and return the world to the Dawn era (i.e. "Before the Ages of Man"). There's enough foreshadowing in Skyrim that the next DLC (or the next elder scrolls title) will involve the Thalmor in a major way. There are also some factions that seem under-utilized in vanilla Skyrim, like the Vigilants of Stendarr.

This. Hopefully this. Those elves need to be taught a lesson NOT TO **** WITH A GOD.

What lies are they going to spew this time? 300 more hours of content, when the entire game didn't have nearly that much? A "branching narrative" that spins an intriguing story with multiple outcomes that will change Nirn forever? Advanced Radiant Story quests that are not simply ordinary Radiant quests? A new map that is as large or larger than Skyrim's map. I'm sure Bethesda will make up some terms that sound impressive but are also just vague enough that they can almost be true when in fact they are bs. And then there will be some wordy, turkey explanation later to cover it.

Call me skeptic... my cousin's friend knows someone who work at Bethesda's... :)

At any rate, I think that the three roads leading to Morrowind and Hammerfell (I'm not counting the one, closed, leading to Cyrodill) are there for a reason... maybe the DLCs will also expand the portion of land that will be available... not an entire new province but a part of.

If you look on this older map of http://www.imperial-library.info/sites/default/files/gallery_files/cyrodiillargelowrescr7.jpg there is a town called Sunguard in Skyrim. Maybe it has something to do with that?

If you didn't manage to enjoy 300+ hours with Skyrim, then maybe it isn't your kind of game...

And I don't know why you even expect a larger landscape than the vanilla game. It didn't happened in Morrowind or Oblivion, it won't happen now. That's why they're called "expansions", and not "new games".

Judging by all of Todd Howards statements, Bethesda don't know much.
Every question is answered with ' Don't Know '

But OT
This could be the one time they make an expansion bigger than Vanilla, but I doubt it.
I say this because on map, Skyrim is so small compared to the other provinces, but in game world it's huuuuge, but they could make an expansion that's at least 50- 75% the size of a vanilla Skyrim, and If the news is true, about just Three Major DLC' then I'd expect those 3 to be pretty damn huuge.

3 you say? I hope so. I plan to buy every and each one of them :)

I hope they're so epic as Bioware's Mass Effect 2 DLC's. Some of them were even better than the original game itself (like "Overlord" and "Lair of the Shadow Broker").

My best friend's sister's boyfriend knows this guy who goes with this girl who saw Bethesda pass out DLC at '31 Flavors last night.

Sounds pretty serious. O.o

But in all honesty, if they let me fight on horseback, I will be a happier elf.
If the name "Dragon Riders" has any literal validity, then I will be an even happier elf.

Horse combat, multiple animal transformations and returning to Cyrodiil seems all a bit far fetched. Also, these people sure do know a lot for a website I've never heard of.

Even still, if they are correct I like the idea of "Three Big Expansions with other little DLC inbetween"

I hope it's related to Wraithguard. I mean, we already have Keening in the game, right? The second DLC could add Sunder, and in the 3rd DLC Lorkhan rises again!

Yeah, probably not ...

I dont think Mounted combat will ever be included in DLC being that it would be weird that it cant be done now in present game then youre suddenly able to fight on horse when dlc comes out

I just read another article. They are saying that 3 videos leaked. 3 DLC's confirmed.

Riders of Hammerfell
Dawnguard
Morrowind

So this will be actually the big package "meaty" DLC that Bethesda has been talking about at least for now.

Yippe !! :D I hope it's true baby !!
