Dawnguard Wont Fix Everything

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 5:57 pm

In my opinion, all destruction needs are some master level spells that ditch the nonsense "Higher the level, bigger the spell, longer the charge," and are instead the most practical and effective spells there are for combat. If it was that way, then the Mages could literally be able to fight without any use of other combat styles.

As I said above (perhaps angrily so), I don't think Destruction needs to be "fixed." However, I really like this idea. Regularly casting master-level spells for combat would be nice, as well as some expert-level AOE spells (I'm annoyed that they're mostly stronger, more expensive apprentice spells). I'd like walls, runes and cloaks to benefit from dual casting and from the Augmented [Element] perks as well; currently those things have no effect on those spells.

There are wall spells and Lightning Storm, if that suits you.

True. As a rather foolish person who bought the game for the 360, I would know. When I saw that almost every bug that frustated me and every little nitpick was addressed and fixed for MONTHS for the PC version, I finally bought a gaming PC and another copy of Skyrim for PC. I never looked back. The only advice I can give to new players of Elder Scrolls games: NEVER, EVER buy & play the game on consoles. The PC versions, just because they can be modded, are so much better than the console ones that I think it's a horrible waste of money to buy Skyrim for PS3 or Xbox. Vote with your wallet.... Maybe if bethesda focused on only one platform, their games wouldn't be such a bug-riddled mess.

So what you are really saying is Bethesda svcks at making games? They make a majority of their money on the console versions. They need to learn to fix the problems. Sure on PC they can count on others to do the job for free.

Ok Destruction is a completely lacking skill compared to its archery and melee counterparts. I could make a loooooong list of things Destruction cant do such as damage scale like Archery and One-handed, enchantments that increase damage like archery and one-handed, you cant even shoot spells on a horse like archery and one handed etc.

Dawnguard is going to provide us with many new things like crossbows and new bows for archery, and dragon bone weapons for One-handed.

But it seems that no information is confirmed of the possibility of enhancing magic in any way shape or form.

Spell creation atleast? Damage scaling? Mabey even the slightest change to Destruction magic will allow it to be on par with archery or one handed which we all can agree that Destruction is not.

i wouldn't count on this DLC to fix magic. Hearthfire may... but this DLC looks to be mostly about vampires/vampire hunters.

I have always been magic based characters in Oblivion and Skyrim. In my opinion magic is OP. I have all magic skills at 100. You are almost invincible. As to specific Destruction skill, maybe a little boost to damage output would be nice. However have you tried dual wielding Wall of Frost and Wall of Storms? It will slow, damage health, stamina and magicka. And while using the right enchantments it won′t cost any magicka...

Pure damage is really easy to exploit. I never play magi and even I know this. Couple of enchantments and a set of robes and off you go.

BTW: based on the PC 1.6 "Beta" I'd be surprised if the DLC didn't break more than it fixes.
The 1.6 patch is a beta. I think they forgot to fix the bugs before releasing it to the public. The update has all but killed the unofficial patch until they can figure out how to fix it.

I'm in the same boat. I started out with the Xbox 360 version, and it was frustrating seeing bugs not being patched, while the pc version had fixes months earlier through mods.

Just some advise for future topics you don't need to say what your talking about in every sentence "archery and one-handed" I think we got the picture.

As to your question I don't know. I'm sure they'll do something magic heavy down the line as of now they're just channeling their inner vampire/ vampire hunter.
