37 Days, and Still No Updates

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 11:21 am

I wonder if they have started working on a new patch, I've been checking in everyday since I got this game, and I really can't stand the game freezes, I'm really a fan of Fallout, and am just disappointed that this game still has major problems with it.... I really hope they could fix it. What's going on? Is patch 1.03 coming? I've searched the web and still nothing -.-....

I'm right there with ya, I just shelved the game for the first time. I still haven't come close to completion and just can't play through this! Worst of all they have the balls to post under recent news that Fallout New Vegas is nominated for best storyline and whatever else they put up recently. No one cares, I can't even finish the story line?!?!

haven't seen anything from Gstaff on patch details. could be they're just busy with skyrim and the upcoming DLCs. just so you know, in case your looking forward to it, the patch won't completely get rid of crashes, just prevent them from happening as much. it will mostly address quest bugs and such.

Aleister; They could patch the engine too you know. It may be ancient, but its source is not carved on stone tablets (i hope).

And yes, i'd like to know what they're up to aswell. A patch or five would be nice.

considering they haven't fixed it since oblivion if they could, I'm guessing it's unrepairable.

Yeah, I read some of the posts you put up Aleister, but I think its possible, I once seen a patch at the size of 1 GB! But I think that was on a different game on PC though, I just really hope they can at least help make this game more playable. And yeah, I wonder if they already forgot about this game -.-, its been 37 days since they posted about game Updates, I paid good money for this game, and I really want to know IF they are working on it.

I just think that after all this time, if they could have fixed it, they would have for NV, and before it was released. now that they have skyrim on a new engine and this is the last game of theirs to use Gamebryo, I think it is unlikely they'll put the money and effort into getting it fixed now of all times.

Brand new to these forums... sorry if any of these are those infamous "stupid" questions. I'm not going to read all 20,000+ google hits that come up when I type in "Fallout New Vegas PS3 Freeze"...

About that first patch. 1.02. How do I know if I have it? Does it download automatically?

I can't play more than ten minutes without freezing up and it's getting really frustrating. Are retailers supplying full refunds if I take NV back?

start the game from the XMB, and make sure your signed in to the PSN. if nothing comes up, you already have the patch.

I don't think retailers will take it back after it's opened, you could give it a try, but I doubt it. they'll probably tell you to take it up with bethesdas customer support, which I've been waiting to hear back from myself for, oh, I'd say about 3 months.

Skyrim is all Bethesda, isn't the NV patches on Obsidian? If not they really should be left up to Obsidian it's there work in the game anyway.
I am so  happy Skyrim won't be on the Gamebro engine, even though it will require learning a new construction set  .

I would hope so, but what the hell is obsidian doing, then? on vacation? as far as I know, they shouldn't be working on anything. at least not until the scripting errors and quest bugs are fixed, among other things.

Thanks. I'll try this, but I think it's already patched. After I posted above, I found your 4-page "freezing" thread and I read through your suggestions there as well. Sure enough, my file system was corrupted. I think I fixed it (following your instructions and those on the Sony site) and started NV again...this time it froze 5 minutes into my gameplay.

It's really remarkable to me that there can be such a prolific problem and that Bethesda, Oblivion and whomever else is involved takes a complete "management by avoidance" policy. I must say that I will probably avoid Bethesda games for a while. I buy 3-4 games per year because I can only play 2-3 hours per week. I like the RPGs so I mostly buy Final Fantasy, Fallout, GTA, etc. Since I buy so little, I'm sure they're not going to shed a tear over me.

I'll try a few more of the tricks on your other thread, but I play with Autosave off and with the audio off most of the time anyway, so only a few of them would apply to me. I don't play online at all, so that's not the problem.

Best of luck to all FONV fans, hope it gets better.

well, I hope the suggestions help. keep in mind that although they did help a few players, they didn't help everyone. also, when you restore your file system whether or not your HDD is actually corrupted it will say it is. it's just a default message thats displayed if your system realizes it needs to do a system restore itself(ex. your playing NV and "your hard drive is corrupt and needs to be restored" comes up. it just does it either way).

I agree with you that we simply shouldn't have to put up with this, we purchased a product with the intentions it would work. if you can't complete the game due to faulty software crashing your system every 5 minutes, it's clearly broken.

oh well, at least there not putting it into future titles. nothing we can do now, but I'm buying their games used from now on. none of my hard earned cash will be going to support them when they couldn't put the effort into fixing there last 3 games to use the software.

typical. if there's not even news of them "working on it", then they're not doing anything about it.

Thank you Gstaff you rock :mohawk: but I will ask.
Should we expect to hear new information, ever? Barring DLC of course, sorry to put you on the spot.

Thanks G

Well I would like to share some thoughts with you.

The game has made most of its sales (2 months have already passed, new games come out every day).

If I am not mistaken the first "big" patch for fallout 3 got out around march (4+ months after its release date) right before the release of the second DLC.

Bethesda or whoever is responsible is "going to let us know" for more than a month now.

Wild speculation about the developers - they either:
1. Got fired after all the infamy they brought to the company as a result of the problems in this game.
2. Are working on an other project (DLC and/or another game - elder's scroll 5?)

I am a fallout fan for like 10 years? When I heard Interplay went bankrupt my first thought was "Oh SH***** no more fallout :'( ". After Bethesda bought the rights for the game I hesitated since it was kinda obvious Fallout was going to be forever a Morrowind clone, but even after that I supported both the game and Bethesda. But it seems all they do now is play legal games with Interplay. Both companies dissapointed the fans of Fallout in their ways. All we want is to have a playable (doesn't have to be perfect) game, we support you so please do the same. What does it mean "Sorry, I don't have any new information to share. When we have more information to share, we'll let everyone know."? Why does there have to be so much bureaucracy? I find it hard to believe it is difficult to patch a fully made game. And I don't believe it is expensive either - we are living in the era of the second most catastrophic economic crisis. Thousands of programmers are unemployed and would work for peanuts, why not hire them at very low cost if your current developers are so expensive? But I guess none cares. "The fans are always going to buy the game no matter what"

I don't think the moderators actually work for Bethesda (I may be wrong), so they won't know if another patch is being prepared unless Bethesda tells them.

Obsidian developed this game, and are not involved with the Elder Scrolls series.

However, Obsidian are advertising on their website "... looking for a talented senior graphics programmer for our upcoming console RPG. " No idea what this could be?

GStaff is an administrator, they give us information passed down from Bethesda. The moderators are volunteers that don't necessarily "work" for Bethesda or Zeni-Max, but rather devote some of their time to keeping the forums civilized(we all know what this place would be like without them).

So basically what he is saying means 2 things,

1. They have not started a new patch (because they'd tell us)

2. They don't know if they will make a new patch (because they'd tell us)

If I don't see a new patch in 15 days I'm returning this game . It just froze on me while Autosaving using the " Wait " option while in the wasteland . some of the Powder Gangers just sit there and not attack me even after I shoot at them (?)

This is so dissapointing , I actually had many hopes for this game. :sadvaultboy:
