Dead Space 2

I'm having a conversation with my friend and I asked him if he noticed the marketing campaign for Dead Space 2 and he said "that mom hates it [censored]?" and then he said "it looks alright, these games get boring over night"

Condemned would like a word.

The Condemned games are two of the most underrated games of this generation. I really wish we could see a Condemned 3.

As for Dead Space 2, I loved the first one. This has been bumped up pretty high on my 'to buy' list, but I likely won't be getting it for a while.

EA is really going at it with their marketing department.

Never played it, but if you saying its just like the first one then its not a game I would pay $60 for. Mabey $10 or $20.

Ya I found the "Mother's against Dead Space" or whatever it was to be a little over the top. Played the demo on the PS3 and while it is entertaining it's just not up my alley. Did like the scare factor and loved my first necromorph/zombie curb stomp to get some items.

Well, Dead Space 2 actually has a small video introduction to what has been going on in the series, including the first game.

I would say that it helps to play Dead Space before DS2, but it isn't entirely necessary.

But it is totally worth it.

I've played through the 1st three times and am about to go through for my fourth but sadly I don't have the dough to get this game :(.

http://www.gamerevolution.com/manifesto/dead-space-2-intentionally-less-scary-3959.

It's kinda disappointing. I played a good bit of the first game before getting side tracked with other stuff and the thing about it was that I always felt like I was surrounded and at any moment, something could rip my head off.

That IS disappointing. I can't complain about getting my money's worth since I was bought the game during a Steam sale by someone I was teasing for being afraid to play it, but I didn't find it scary at all. I'd already heard they smoothed the clunky combat in the sequel, which is going to make it less scary by itself, since it's hard to maintain fear alongside a character who feels powerful. If they intentionally reduced it on top of that, I can't see it being left with much of anything to indicate it's trying to have horror elements. This plus the short singleplayer and presence of multiplayer pretty much confirms there's no chance of me getting this thing. If I want an unremarkable action game I'm sure I'll eventually trip over one of the countless others coming out of the walls.

While Dead Space 2 is less scary, it's really only because they did less of the creepy things like the guy banging his head on the wall in the medical deck, short sightings of necromorphs in the vents and playing around with shadows. They still happen, but less often. You'll still be threatened by the Necromorphs constantly, things haven't really gotten easier. Hell, I ran out of ammo during one of the fights with the giant necromorphs that walks on it's huge arms and tiny back legs.

You people need to lighten up, jeeze. I swear, every time a thread about a new game comes out, the majority of people complain about something. "It's too short, it's not scary enough, the plasma cutter it too small, they improved it too much..." <_<

I for one thoroughly enjoyed it, and just finished it roughly ten minutes ago. :)

The ending... Like... Seriously? Not seriously in a bad way, but jeeze...

Awesome game. 10/10. The advanced forms now give me nightmares.

Love you Visceral.

Also:

Stalkers = SCARY

Normal = Hard

Issac = Most BA mofo ever.

Multiplayer = Awesome. Can't wait to play it with friends. :D

I'm still curious about what exactly the
Spoiler
ultimate result of Convergence would be. Judging by the dialogue, it's going to unfiy the necromorphs that are assembled around it, but what would the result be? a Hive mind Necromorph? Like the final boss of the first game? Or something else? Or maybe their joined with the Marker?

Well...

Spoiler
In Dead Space Martyr, most of the visions/hallucinations warned that Convergence must NEVER happen. Some said it should though, the more malicious ones. So my assumption is something far worse than just a hive-mind.

Havent played 2, but didnt like 1. The nercomorphs got predictable at the end, you just shoot "corpses" on sight.
Only one thing made me quit, dividers, [censored] dividers. Specifically those small part that break off, move fast, fast enemy + slow aiming = fail.
That just pissed me off, I play a shooter I want it to be responsive, quick. The guns in DS1 were just to heavy and slow for my liking, made it annoying to aim. So I just quit.

Dividers and infectors seem to be less common in Dead Space 2. Though Divider parts still show up almost as often as they did in DS 1. the Infectors also no longer create enhanced slashers.

Huh, Really? I never really noticed the infectors doing their thing in the last levels.

Spoiler
Though what was really scary was the fact that by the end of the game almost every enemy is an enhanced version. the vomit spewing ones, the mutant babies, those bastards that yelp and dash towards you to attack, all ehanced versions.

Those definetly were the most annoying enemy. But Stasis is your friend. As is the Pulse Rifle (or whatever it was called).

In DS1 i only used Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle, The thing that shoot sawblades and the Force Gun. Perfect combination of guns for me. The Pulse Rifle and Plasma Cutter were in the demo, and that javelin gun seemed pretty fun, if a bit impractical.

The Javelin gun basically follows the new Impalement mechanic. It's now possible to use Tk to impale enemies with certain spikes and Necromorph blades, and the Javelin gun turns this mechanic into a gun. The principle advantage of the Javelin gun, in my opinion, is it's secondary fire mode, which lets you electrify the last javelin you fired.

Well i beat the game after a 11 hour power play. I liked it a lot and thought the ending was really cool. I felt dirty after playing and immediately took a shower... had to get all the necromorph grime off of me.

Edit: I gotta say, it was a very draining game. I felt like i struggled through the whole experience, and I really did. I ended the final battle with just enough health to stay alive and that was with a fully upgraded advanced suit and stasis... on normal. I am giving this game props for being a actual immersive challenge that keeps you coming back.

Yeah, the ending battle is a tough one, especially since one's ammo starts to run out while

Didnt use pulse rifle (thats the one thats like a force shotgun right ?)

If they had made it so you could ajust sensitivity I may be playing it, but really asking you to fights small fast enemies, multiple ones at once with a slow aiming weapon. Just to much for me.
If thye ajusted this in DS2, I may get it pre owned but other than that, no chance knowing I will have to go through the same annoying thing again. I will probablly just look up a LP, good atmosphere and stroy, but the shooting was just bad imo.
