Nope, he was replying to my question about who Obsidian was. There isn't a reason why you should like New Vegas just because the remnants of Black Isle. worked on it, you just like it or you don't. It's really that simple.

Where did you ask who Obsidian was in the following quote?

I don't know, in my opinion, ever since Obsidian developed Fallout, I've been missing the whole surprise effect like I'd experienced in Fallout 3.

I really think Obsidian could have put a lot more effort into this if they'd put more time into it, too bad the deadline was too soon.

My thoughts exactly. As I've lost or damaged games before, it's nice not having to buy the same product twice. Steam is fine in my book.

I like it because it's really easy to find games and download them. I was searching EVERYWHERE for Fallout 1 & 2 as well as a copy of Tropico (sims type game) but could not find them and so I used steam and I like it.

No. You can go into Offline mode, but if you have a constant Internet connection, then I don't see the need for it.

Most of everyone that worked on New Vegas worked on the original games.

Actually there's only a handful of people that worked on one and two that are still there.

How about this instead

1. Work with Obsidian. You do the world. They do the story/writing and game mechanics.

Right. You said you missed the surprise from Fallout 3, he/she said, in response to that and that alone, the original developers worked on the game as if that was to change your mind, I responded questioning what it was supposed to mean, you said he was responding to a question in response to my question/statement while you hadn't even asked the question you said he was responding to by the time he responded with what he responded, and now you acknowledged that it was later on and so I question what it means again in a confusing post summing up what just happened. :wacko:

I've got to record that post. It is perhaps the most confusing one that I have ever written. I'm just going to go get some turkey and cranberry sauce, now.

2. You never, ever, EVER distribute your games through Steam or make them Steam-enabled

Howzat? Huh? Sounds pretty damn fair to me. Listen, I know you have marketing guys in suits telling you otherwise, but there's a REASON Steam is referred to as "Steam-ing pile of ..." You can fill in the blank, we're all advlts here.

I'll make a counter proposal.

1. You let Obsidian develop whatever it feels like.

2. You continue distributing games through Steam.

and I, Tale, will:

1. BUY YOUR GAMES.

how about a compromise

1.release steamed & unSteamed (using an offline drm) versions
2.everyone buys, happiness grips the forums as all legit fans are included
3 Bethesda makes more monies

I'll settle for that compromise, thankyouverymuch. If I bought a DVD, really, I shouldn't need to worry about a cruddy online distro service.

But you do have to settle for copy protection technologies which can interfere with some equipment, and prevent you taking your disc with you should you move overseas.

(You also have to worry about losing or scratching your DVD - not so with steam).

Complex and highly detailed stat mechanics.
Greater dialogue (no showing us the speech checks for example [Speech 74/90]
Optional isometric turn-based combat.
Dark as hell.

...for those with high speed internet, but Steamworks on the other hand is a turn-off for some gamers

Which then means you can't play DVDs from your new location on your computer, you're gunna have to import if you want to watch the movie you buy on the device you want. Region Codes - Gotta love em. I had to leave a sizable DVD library behind.

I'm hardly rich myself but in the real world repairing/replacements can cost money. infact when I get enough money I going to rebuy the disc versions of Morrowind & Mechwarrior 3 as the ones I have are showing their age.
