Dear Bethesda WTF

Dear Bethesda,
Why does it not surprise me again that you have screwed up an other game. Before I go on I have a damn fine rig intel quad core 3.2 ghz processor 12 gigs of ram, SLI 8800 GTS etc... I played Fallout 3 and what happened? I could play for 30mins to an hour and then CTD. When was the last patch for that game? 07/27/2009 Wow then what? You give up trying to fix the game? Because in forums people are still having issues. Oh and I tried what was said about the codex issue with that game and still crash. Then came out Fallout New Vegas and here I thought oh yay maybe they will have a better product this time around..... Well I was wrong. I can play New Vegas for 15-30 mins sometimes if I am lucky 2 hours then it crashes to desktop. WTF do these issues not come up when you people are testing the games? I never had an issues with Morrowind or Oblivion those games always worked well for me. What is it about Fallout games that causes problems. Every other game I run on this computer from Crysis to Call of Duty works fine. Why does your game crash so much. Also its great that you don't respond when people have issues and great that at some point like with Fallout 3 you just stop releasing patches and work on your next game. I doubt after all these issues that I will ever buy another Fallout game.

I don't know if this is still true for FONV but I know FO3 doesn't like quad core computers. If you do a quick search of the FO3 PC forum you should be able to find some fixes for this.

Just doing my daily check in to see if there is a patch for the FONV beta that I bought. Nope. And another day with no word at all from anyone from Bethesda on anything at all. See you tommorrow.

Yes, I discovered FO3 quite late on and was able to find fixes that meant the game runs smooth as silk on my quad core. As for FONV, I've had just three CTDs in 25+ hours of playing on the same machine, although I know that others have not been so lucky and I have had all sorts of other issues. I don't think that quad cores are the issue with FONV.

I have the game of the year edition of Fallout 3 (comes with all the DLC's in one package, 2 dvd's) and it worked like a charm. Have played 70 hours and I honestly don't remember it crashing more than twice.
Thing about FO3 that pissed me off was that damn Games for Windows Live, but that's a different issue.

This cracked me up :) Makes sense, this whole F:NV scam is turning into one big joke, and the joke's on us.

Also, i have SLI GTX 285's, and i was getting CTD quite often every 15-20 min, one thing i did was disabled SLI, then set my second GTX 285 to do the physics, and just ran the first card in single mode, and that got the game running pretty well. Kinda annoying i had to do that, but one 285 is more than enough anyways. Just one thing you could try to get it running.

Not much of an issue? Crashes, corrupt save games or any of the other zillion bugs?
If you say so, but i think there might one or two disgruntled 'customers' who might not agree.
Not to mention those who wouldnt touch the game if they knew they would lose progress, like is happening all too often.

Well, I will not go into a pointless argument, but how big is the percentage of the "disgruntled customers" out of all the games sold?

Well, clearly that is an impossible question to answer, but as things like the save corruption issue are not caused by hardware issues (given that the problem is caused by completing certain quests or entering certain areas), I would imagine that a very large percentage of people who are playing the game are encountering them.

Oh, the numbers game.
You might feel a little different if you had problems yourself.I hope you continue to run the game fine, but how funny will it be if you get a corrupt save?...tell me the game is fine then.

I've noticed your adimrable attempt to defend what is clearly (who knows for how many people) a broken game on many threads here and it looks a little too devoted fan to me.Get some perspective.

You been to vault 3 yet? Please go there soon if you havent.

To the OP: As others have said disable SLI/Crossfire if using, and set the game (should be able to do this in the processes tab of task manager once you've launched the game) to use only 2 cores - Oblivion and FO3 which use the same game engine have the exact same problem with modern gaming PCs and it's easy enough to fix.

I certainly would.

But I would certainly not assume that the rest of the world would have the samme issues as I have (without having any facts to rely on) ;)

No, but when I have and had no corrupted saves, can I then come back here and say the same again?

You will be able to say what you already have. That the game runs fine for you.
You wont, of course, be able to speak for me, or many others who cant say that.

I certainly do not assume everyone has the same problems I have experienced with the game. Its true that reading this forum has shown me many issues I havent experienced myself.
The problem I think, is that many others have had the same issue and others besides.

Oh FFS. Show me who, in this thread, has said anything about 'the rest of the world'! Why are you even on this section of the forum if your game is running so beautifully? Go play your miraculously unbroken game and stop trying to stir up an argument.

I am going to throw in the "I have seen it much worse before" card.

2 examples: Splinter Cell launch and Oblivion launch. When these 2 games were launched, the hardware support forums would create a whole new page of posts every our (or so), meaning 50 new posts created. It was really crazy and much, much worse than what I am seeing is happening now with F:NV. And since everything is relative, I deduct that F:NV is in a better "release state" than these other 2 games, and not the culprit it (by some) is called out to be.

Of course there are some problems for some people, but that is just how life is for us PC-gamers. I have also seen a lot of bugs, crashes and weirder things in the games I have played, but I have always found some way to make the games I want to play enjoyable to the end.

I responded to the fact that someone thought the problems should be so many that the media press should have picked up the story about the broken Fallout: New Vegas game

Because I am helping other people to get their game running?!?

Why are you here?

Pointless argument indeed, and you started it, [censored] (how lame, can't even use the j-word around here...).
What seems even more pointless to me is why find you it necessary to throw oil in a fire by coming into a thread with disappointed owners of the game and suggest that F:NV's current fubar state is "not much of an issue", and futhermore to make matters worse, ask an unanswerable (and totally irrelevant) hit-and-run question which suspiciously makes your behaviour like look trolling.

Exactly how have you helped anyone in this thread? I think you've mixed up "helping" with "pissing off".

Guys this discussion is getting more than a little heated, let's try and rein it in a bit.

thanks for the info on fallout 3, I will go check for the fixes.

It looks like quad cores aren't an issue with FONV but hopefully you'll be able to get FO3 to work now. :)

Not helping in this thread, but in "this section of the forum" = PC issues

I get what you are saying - I am just a bit tired of reading all those people whining about their game not working, and assuming that enough people experience the same as them in order for the media press to pick up the story. I am also tired of reading all those people whining about their game not working, and really not trying to fix things themselves, but just throw it at Bethesda like some spoiled kids yelling "Fix it".

And yes I know it is pointless, but just as the "disgruntled customers" have their need to vent, so did I have the need to vent.

I apologize if I hurt anyones feelings.

But I think I am fine now and will leave this thread for good and instead focus on helping the people who are genuinely trying to get their game working.

Fair enough, Cralle. Fair enough. And any help given on this forum is very much appreciated, I'm sure. You're absolutely right that there are plenty of fixes already available for many of the issues. I myself have greatly improved the stuttering I was experiencing, thanks to the helpful folk here. But you must admit that some issues, particularly the save corruption, is not fixable by anyone other than the devs.

There. I think I've probably flogged this dead horse enough now.

You have made the biggest assumptions here.I guess sometimes its just easy to put your head in the sand and say everything is fine.Doesnt the fact that you are here, trying to help so many people, say something?
There are game breaking bugs, across all formats, for many players. Can you deny that? No, of course not.
I'd say that was news worthy, you dont agree so well leave it at that.
