Definitive ending to New Vegas poll.

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 3:47 pm

I don't understand it either but I'm gonna try to give examples anyway:

*Main quest too short.
*Bad design that I couldn't let fawkes, charon, that robot thingy or clover into the reactor thingy.
*The ending didn't show all of your actions.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think the main quest was too it was okay for me at least. I liked the way it ended because it didn't make your character a complete superhero, by having him make such a huge difference such as taking down a whole mutant army singlehandedly. Yes, I think it was very stupid when you sent somebody else in the purifier and still died. I wish they had said more of what had happenend to the places of the wasteland. All and all I thought it was fine ending.

Another question what happens when you use the FEV vile? Are there still super-mutants in broken steel?

SavageBeatings, I'd love to watch Dazed And Confused that never ended.
It's the best film I've ever seen.
Really.
In my afterlife I want a beer that never goes warm and never runs our, a bag of cheese doodles that never run out and Dazed And Confused that never ends.
That, my fellow forum dwellers, would be paradise.

What if the beer has gone flat, the cheese doodles are soggy and Dazed and Confused is on VHS but you only have a DVD player? :)

Wait.. You can send the robot in in the vanilla version of the game?
(I should really play fallout 3 again soon.)

Well I did in my lastest playthrough. I've got all the DLC installed so that might effect it. Not sure either way.

How do others feel?

Please feel free to state your opinion.

I like it.

I like it as it highlights the accomplishment I as a player have gone through - and as it is definite, it offers better possibilities for more comprehensive story conclusions (without the fear of the continuation feeling awkward because it likely can not take every quirk the different endings affect into account), which - again - further nourish the sense of accomplishment without which the experience is lacking. Also, it enhances the replayvalue and encourages differing characterbuilds as not all endings are possible with one single character (or so I'm led to believe). If the ending is throughly planned, retconning it with a BS style DLC would be a mistake and would actually just vain the hard work done with the ending. And that's my opinion. Though, that's not to say open ended games can't have good endings, but I'm happy with the solution and hope there will not be a BS style retconning this time around.

Then I'd Falcon Punch whatever god it is that screwed me over. ;)
Then I'd take on the title "Count Of The Universe" and create a planet of frog-people which only create good RPG's as a form of entertainment. :D

The main quest of both Fallout 3 and New Vegas are being designed to have a definite ending - however Bethesda wasn't expecting so many people to object to this. Obsidian has went in to this knowing they'd have to make accommodations for this and I imagine they'll handle it well.

I don't really care either way, as long as it works well I'm happy.

Like I said before, if they just added an option to free roam after the credits, just for the fun of it. that would be fine withme. I do agree with your point on replay value though.

If they truly do this well, and replay value is high. well I could live that lol

I see what your going for and I don't object. But what I don't understand is, if there was a freeroam mode without the story ending affecting it, what would be the point? If nothing changes after the credits, what would be the point of a feature that lets you do stuff that you would normally do anyway? Why not just do it before ending the story (if ending it at all)?

Fallout New Vegas: Finally, it's about to end.

Nothing. Nothing at all.

That is retarted. Does it explain that the vile failed? You should at least get negative reactions from the BoS, like when you're walking by they should say "I can't believe you sided with those bastards."

All that happens is that if you drink it messes around with your stats and if you consume to much you die. A few "consequences" occur like in Underworld you see a couple of nameless ghouls ill. To be honest it was pretty poorly handled.

To my recollection, the "use FEV" ending tells you what a cowardly evil bastard you are and that now everything in the CW dies. I don't remember the BoS reactions to this, but you're drafted anyway to do their job.

Extremely poorly. I never drink aqua pura like ever. I hope they don't do another broken steel thing.

I prefer a good definitive end like Fallout 1 and 2. I expect we'll get full closure at the end of this game unlike the last one.

The point of having the game end is so that you play the game again (differently) right after. The problem with Fallout 3 was that once you beat the game, you didn't want to play again because there wasn't any reason to want to. Thus why people wanted the game to go on forever. With Fallout: New Vegas, it seems like the replay value will be very high which is all anyone should really want when it comes to a RPG.

Eh, like I've said before. I'll see the ending I want 'very good' ending equivalent, then I'll have a memory seizure and pretend that I AM playing after the ending.

Nothing wrong with a definitive ending as long as its done correctly FO3's original ending was just god awful and only had two very basic outcomes I'm really happy with Obsidian so far and I have all the confidence in the world in them giving us a proper ending depending on our respective adventures in New Vegas, You finish one story and start one anew I see no problem with it. :tops:
