did this bug anyone else

if any of you have read Game informer magazine, then you are aware of their "the good, the bad and the ugly" section

Well in the Good section they put good news on topics like games and such, in the bad they put bad news, and im not quite sure what the criteria is for the ugly section.

But back on topic.

I looked through the good section and i noticed something about FNV so i read it. it was about the upcoming DLC. With it being in the "good section" i assumed that there might be some hope that it meant that it wouldnt be 360 exclusive.

That was not the Case. It was in the "good section" Becuase it was 360 exclusive. i dont exactly see how that is a good thing.

Did anybody else notice this, and did it bug you.

It's not a good thing at all, because all it does is alienate a large percentage of the people who bought the game, most of whom are die-hard fans.

But, whatever. That's how things are going these days. What can you do? I'm certainly not going to buy a 360 just to get DLC a few months early.

Maybe it'll be more polished since they will focus on releasing it for one console first.
Or maybe we're the "test group" which will basically be the one's to report all the bugs and crap and once PS3 and PC actually gets it the patches will have taken care of the problems.

/Extreme speculation.

I very seldom take seriously the opinions of the critics/reviewers in that magazine because I have played many of the games that they say svck and they turn out to be great and some games they say are awesome, I thought where terrible. It's just an opinion, take it with a grain of salt. :fallout:

Remember, critics/reviewers are more often than not, failures in the field that they are reviewing/criticizing, that's why they seem disgruntled.

Critics tend to be biased by their own tastes and it never fits everyone's tastes. Same concept as how a stereotype never fits an entire group perfectly. More and more, I am disagreeing with various news reporting groups, but that is a whole other argument to start with.
I don't think the XBOX 360 is the ideal testing ground for bugs based off of general player demographics but likely it is rated as the largest source of players that they want to cater to. We PC and PS3 owners are treated like the older and middle child respectively. PC is old enough to take care of itself. Just wander around NVNexus to find what you want or make it yourself in geck. PS3 held the crown in console wars during the psx era, it really doesn't get any attention anymore (just like any middle child). The Nintendo is more like that creepy older uncle that acts like a kid. He isn't even invited to these events.

It isn't ideal but that is pretty much the situation right now.

Well, considering it's owned and operated by Gamestop, I can see the potential for console bias. But it's nontheless surprising.

Perhaps a side-step, but have you guys noticed that many game ads on TV are generally "only on XBox" type ads? For example the new CoD ad... why is that? Do they just assume there aren't that many PS3 owners?

Anyway, I'm not going to buy an XBox just to get the DLC a couple months early.

...to get DLC a few months early.

This is the key part.
It will come, and for all platforms!
Remember FO3 where the DLC was not available to PS3?
There were many disgruntled, angry posts at the time...
And we all know how that worked out.

If the ad mentions Xbox at the end, the spot is paid for (at least partly) by Microsoft.

Probably within days or weeks of the 360 DLC release, just like before.

And each version will. You do realize there's a difference between "Xbox gets it and nobody else does," and "Xbox gets it first," right?

No, I didn't notice it nor does it bother me. Having gone against my better judgement, violated my cardinal rule, and not waited for the Gold/GotY edition like I did with Fallout 3 and Oblivion I've been reminded why I had that rule in the first place. Having been reminded, I don't care when what gets released because I'll get the DLC when whatever compilation is done comes out. (And never make the mistake of buying anything with Bethesda's name on it prior to that point again. From now on others can pay to do the final beta testing and I'll wait until I can get the results of their frustration and testing at a discount with extra content. :D )

do we know wether or not it will be a timed exclusive or a permenent exclusive yet. though i would say that you are probably right considering the situation with fallout 3s DLC

and to CCNA- it was months before the PS3 got any of those DLC. if i recall of course

When Microsoft launched Kinect it dumped a ton of dollars into advertising. So anything that's "exclusive" to XBox or anything related to MS is being trumped up right now.

They're trying hard in the console arena not to end up as an also-ran brand name since they've already achieved that status in search engines, music players, tablets, and phones.

It doesn't really bother me about XBox exclusivity. If it's any good it'll make it over to the PC side and if it doesn't, I've still got mods to play.

Maybe more of a technical reason? XBL is the more widely used/stream-lined online market place.
Not trying to start anything, and I know Steam is a great market, but XBL seems like it has the largest user base/easiest installation process for DLC. Creating the best area for testing and possible feedback.

Then again none of this information is researched.

I really wish i had a gaming pc. the idea of modding my game is quite appealing

That was related to Technical Issues, not Marketing Plans.

Its because that bastard Bill Gates is rich off of his precious little console's mindless first person shooters, a great example of the contrast between PS3 and Xbox 360 FPSs are Gears of War, and Resistance. Gears of War is a plotless shoot em up' that is only popular because apparently a badass in the minds of our society=A dude that looks like hes injected steroids directly into his arms sense age three with a skull cap with a skull on it and a chainsaw with a gun on it. So GoW is pretty much every ten year olds vision of a good game, oh, did I mention he had an effing soul patch? I mean come on, you can NOT be straight and have a soul patch.

Fun fact: Bill Gates is only a non-executive chairman since 2008. He, and his wife, are the second most generous philanthropists in America.

Hah, I read that, too. This is in the same issue where NV scored lower than Fable III, mind you.

I wasn't insensed or anything, but it's definitely not what I'd call "Good News". The fact that NV is receiving DLC in the first place could be considered "Good News", but I don't think console exclusivity really warrants that sort of reaction these days. If anything, this news should have been treated with a mild excitement, coupled with a wag of the finger so that they could perhaps correct their mistake next time. As it is, it just makes the magazine seem biased - an accusation that Game Informer is constantly combatting with their reader mail.

For all we know, the magazine's excitement over future Fallout DLC could have just been poorly-worded.

Am i the only one that is kinda glad that it is going to be an Xbox exclusive.
the ps3 gets cool stuff all the time (the walton outfit in RDR, in Arkham asylum the ps3 users could play as joker)
i believe that the 360 is the better system, thats just my opinion . but it is more popular, so it should get more console exclusives then the ps3, because more people will play them.
if this was a ps3 exclusive then more people would be complaining. you guys get console exclusives, why shouldnt we

This is because microsoft payed them.
Don′t act like this is a "pre test for the pc and ps3 release".

Reason why it is always xbox in the end of many ads is because Microsoft payed them , most games have like the pc format, ps network and the xbox signs on end of the games.
High priority releases often get payed by microsoft just to make the ad look like its xbox only.

The ps3 format might be smaller but its not lesser then 50% smaller ATLEAST.

A theory:
Thing is that the americans are many like we all know and they tend to buy xbox since its microsoft.
meanwhile asia buys ps3 since its sony.
Even though both countries buy each other console its just people thing about "supporting there country"
Meanwhile Europe just buys whatever they feel like buying since they are not supporting any company.
I do not have any experience outside of Northen Europe .
i live in Norway where everyone has a ps3.
So i guess its like that in danmark and Sweden.
I lived in Iceland where it was just like that if you would take a look at the Icelandic community like psx.is and xbox360.is you would see that psx.is has almost triple the members of what xbox has.
I think this is because people are more spoiled and there for buy the ps3 and they have played the ps2 alot and do not want to change. Sidenote most people i know [censored] on the xbox , think haha you are gonna buy a xbox to do what use it as a doorstop ?.
I don′t think asia purchases as much as america does (remember you guys are in the most debt americans and even though Iceland owes much in terms of the population, you guys owe thousand times more and there is a stupid reason why Iceland was called bankrupt, Even though it wasnt quite bankrupt just you powerfull countries decided it was bankrupt and then it collapsed right after you guys decided it, we even got less people without a work then spain, portugal, america, france whatever you name it! yeh im pretty pissed because of this , because i currently live in Norway since some stupid a hole decided to create ice save then move to UK lol! well lets get off this sidenote)

Anyways, Microsoft has endless of money and companies like to make money that is why i don′t blame Bethesda for this, all companies sell out activision did , Rockstar with GTA series,Bethesda cant remember more on the top of my head but let′s face it, THIS IS Microsoft!

Backstory:
I own two ps3, gaming pc and i will be getting a xbox for xmas so i am not a really devoted fan to any system , i hate microsoft btw because they bought out cod my fav game and they bought out fallout my fav RPG game :C

Bottom line: Microsoft pays. (hope this wasn′t way to confusing, please don′t scream back at me , i hate bad comments against me no JOKE! :D

EDIT: yes this bugs me , like you can see.

why dont we just not have any console exclusive DLC and extras. that way everyone gets everything.
the ps3 getting extra content isnt fair either. im not arguing that

No one should - let the consoles speak for themselves. Console-exclusive games convince people to buy a console not because it's superior, or even because they think it's superior, but because it's backers payed a bit more to get an exclusive game. I think we can all agree that we'd all be better off if we got the content at the same time.
