In skyrim there is little benefit to being a vampire and a lot of down side

They're not faster (removing speed for Skyrim svcks makes combat boring), stronger and have no useful special abilities. The ones they got either don't work (embrace of shadows) or aren't worth the hassle of being KOS by everyone.

Are there any Vampire clans in Skyrim? No? Meh.

At least Werewolves get some quests.

Vampires to me in terms of game play are just better then werewolves. Sure werewolves get alot more attention with quest, but vampires are more useful to me. I play a mage and it seems vampires were made for a mage style of play. In later levels werewolves just loose their usefulness, while vampires dont. The downsides are totally manageable. Couple enchantments here and there and your straight.

Cyrodiilic vampires were suppose to be stronger and more numerous then other vampires like the sanguine vampires of skyrim but there does seem to be a distinct lack of vampires in skyrim, I think they only have about 2~3 dungeons they commonly appear in... I could be wrong tho. I think one reason maybe how many people vampirism annoyed in Oblivion and given how in skyrim you don't even need to sleep anymore (it's just three days) then that may also have a part to play in the decision.

also in oblivion you could "catch" vampirism just by sleeping outside an inn/home and wake up with some teeth marks on your neck and a disease you needed to cure

Yeah, they removed stats, and even powers are probably covered by Shouts.

Also, no one seems to sleep outside anymore, making feeding a pain.

With no quests or particular things to do as one, it seems like a major playability trade off for a very few shoddy bonuses.

I'd play a true mythological vampire in a second, unfortunately it would require the game to be based around them to really make it work, IMO neither vampires or werewolves can be done well as an add-on, they need their own game.

And where is the vampires + to speech:/

When a vampire can happily munch down a whole clove of garlic and not even have Lydia comment on their bad breath, something has gone wrong.

I never liked Bethesda's vampires. They are a great starting point for mods though which usually make them awesome.

I agree with this post. One of my characters is a male Breton vampire mage, who is also the Archmage of Winterhold. I find vampire abilities very powerful when used correctly. I wouldn't turn a warrior into a vampire however, that wouldn't work so well. Feeding is no problem at all also. Just be sure to have a traveling companion with you so you can feed when ever you need to feed.

It misses any kind of "unique" feeling to be a Vampire in this game.
Plays like everything else during nighttime, the boni arent really recognizeable, at daytime its just that you shouldnt do combat outside.
Would have been nice if they were added as a guild with Quests and more recognizeable differences to non Vampires.

Vampires are passe, for at least the next 20 years. Fads happen in roughly 20-year cycles.

You mean like the slap-bracelet?

Vampires just strike me as useless in this game. Completely no reason to pick one other then role-playing. Even that is kind of iffy because if you feed your at your weakest stage. All of the abilities are kind of lackluster. Ability to create a vampiric thrall? Great, oh wait its just a very weak spell that only works on dead things and then only for a limited time?

*mutters* Also lets not forget a lousy scripted quest which can cure you of vampirisim, and is not in any way connected to the vampire cure quest. *mutters*

Anyhow mods will take care of my issues, its just sad that they apparently looked at oblivion's vampires and said, that's to much effort, lets streamline it some more. *edit* Which is not to say, I liked oblivions vampires, but even as poorly as they were done in that game, you at least got acknowledgement of your curse.
