DLC map ideas

I think it is enabled by default as well; however, I did read somewhere that lower-rank players could play up with higher ranks, but higher ranks can't play down. Can't find the source on that though :/

That is stated in the Compendium.

Curiosity inquires, however, if one can co-op with a friend in a different block? That may be what havok meant, but I'm still wondering. I understand going online, 8v8, you don't want 20's versus 5's. Just me and a pal running through the story, I'd rather not be blocked because one of us has played the game more than the other.

I would assume you can do that without issue. Like I stated before, you can choose to play alone, cooperatively, or mulitplayer; it would make no sense on Splash Damage's part to penalize you and your pal just because one of you played less. I would believe that cooperative play has less restrictions than multiplayer.

I should hope so. By the time my friends get around to buying it, I'll have at least two characters at lvl 20.

You could. Explanation below.

It is possible for level 20 players to play with level 5 guys. However, because of the level differences, the level 20 guy will have restrictions placed on him so that he cannot use a level 20 ability in a level 1-5 block.

If you are playing co-op, on the other hand, I don't think restrictions will apply at all.

It's true but I'd imagine its a great way to piss off a lot of level 20's.

It kinda evens out. A level 20 will obviously have greater skill than a level 5. The true skill of a player is determined through how well they can work with what they are given, not with what they had.

Also that the Ark is an artifical island with finite space. You can't exactly add additions to it after the game comes out.

If I'm not mistaken, Container City is already an extension across the original bounds of the Ark.

Also, when it comes to weapons, clothes, and the like, once you release those, everyone who has the game must be able to at least see it in-game. Meaning players will be forced to get those packs.

Most games have the files for their DLC already in. It's simply a matter of unlocking it for you to use.

A large chunk of "The Lost and Damned" was already in the original GTA IV. Modders datamined the bikes from that DLC shortly after it was announced.

When it comes to PC version, just release map/mod tools.
Community mappers will provide enough maps for this games lifetime.
Some will relate to the original game and others will take this game further on.

Since the Ark is self-supporting there must be a "bio-dome" on it some where to provide the inhabitants with food (ie. fruits and veggies) so maybe a man made forrest map would be good. Refugees need food too, Y U no share Security?

I would like to see fighting aboard a deserted typhoon clas sub to control the weapons

or a set of maps on a deserted sinking aircraft carrier

where bombs could be used to flood sections and pumps could be activated to drain them

i suppose either vessel could drift close to the ark

maybe an ocean floor mining facility under the ark...

lots of ways to add DLC environments that would fit in with the theme of Brink:

underwater or underneath The Ark. Sewer systems, massive under city bomb shelters, The Ark dump (where the garbage goes), fishery, bio dome which contains vegetation. Or something like the underwater city, Rapture, from Bioshock.

First I'd like to play the basic maps until I get bored a few months, than get new maps. I hate it when they release dlc-s at the same time as the game. It feels like it should have been on the disk

You could easily base a map around a big kind of resort/hotel/casino for the celebs that visited the Ark, that'd be a decent colourful map. As for where it is on the map of the Ark, they could just label a random building and go "yeah it's there"

Some of the achievements mention "what if" missions. Added maps could fall into that category. As for locations: I'm sure there are plenty of places you don't go. And barring that, maybe change up the mission on a specific map.

The Ark and the areas built around it from ship yards, etc houses 50,000 people. It's probably big enough to include a few more maps considering the maps seem small to medium sized.

A map is inside like a single building at times, like the visitor center aquarium. You really think there are so few buildings around that they can't make a map in another one? Or move to another section of Container City?

DLC maps could be part of side-stories to the main campaign. Then when playing Campaign Mode, you coul choose whether to play the Main Storyline, or as a Side Story. The side stories could just add some extra depth and lore to the Ark. For instance, while everyone is busy fighting in the main story, there could be an Elite Security Task Force trying to flush out a Resistance Cell who is attempting to sabotuage a critical system or service (maybe they are stealing water for the Guests?) It could cover like 4 maps.

TBH, i don't think variety will too big of a problem due to the nature of Brink. Altough DLC side-stories like above would certainly mix things up. And as for the problem of being seperated from a friend, you can set it so that if 1 person diesn't have it, then the party/fireteam, can't enter and instead joins a new game. Or the DLC could jsut be 100% FREE!!! i like the free option better...

Also, I'd like some DLC maps, but if they were free and available to all players. If Team Fortress 2 could go some 8 major game-changing DLCs without any change in price, Brink could run off that too.

If any free DLC comes out it would almost certainly be PC only. I'm not sure about Sony, but M$ refuses to release free DLC

Sometimes I feel like M$ is a wee bit silly :l

''we made this free content, and we'd like to give it to our fans on the XBOX for free''
''no''
''but..''
''no, you have to charge them''
''but that is not what we intended''
''no, you have to charge them''

I'm afraid if the PC gets free content, we on the XBOX will have to pay for it

I'm interested in seeing how they'll add to the current story ark considering how multiplayer and campaign are one and the same.

I wouldn't mind paying for a whole new side story and I'm sure most people feel the same way. Instead of giving people free content, give them so much content for their 10 bucks that it feels like you're giving it to us for free (think orange box). :foodndrink: People love a deal just as much as they love free [censored].
