Does anybody RP a murderer?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 2:09 pm

Reading this thread actually put me to ask a question.

I'm currently playing as a "good guy", who only kills, if he is attacked by someone or something.
I'm always attacked by for instance vampires, necromancers and black mages.

The question is, if i become a vampire myself, will it be so that all the vampires are not hostile any more?
Are there some choises after which all the black mages and necromancers are "on the same side" with you?
Can you somehow turn yourself to a necromancer for instance?

Btw, i also agree that killing in a game really doesn't mean that you want to kill IRL.
Although my character is a good guy, sometimes when i get bored (of course without saving the game),
i try something silly like shooting an arrow between the eyes of the (arrogant and annoying) Jarl of Falkreath or
hitting general Tullius with a battle axe. I just enjoy to see, how the game world reacts. What comes to the Jarl,
i noticed that after i murdered him in clear daylight and the Jarl was sitting in his throne an arrow in his face,
nobody noticed it and came after me. That was really funny.

I've never been a fan of murder.

Never played dark brotherhood in any of the games, and I simply cannot play evil characters.
I simply cannot enjoy the idea of either causing unecessary pain for my own gain, or causing harm for fun.

Perhaps I roleplay too hard...
It was years while playing Oblivion before I did the Dark Brotherhood quests, but I have to confess it was one of the best storylines ever written. Skyrim's DB questline falls a little short of Oblivion's, but it's still interesting. It's a fine line, but you can look at it like this. People write fiction, and some fiction has despicable characters. The novelist has to do some roleplay in his or her mind to flesh out the despicable characters and give them some life. That doesn't mean the novelist is anything like the despicable characters he or she creates.

My current thief/assassin character has taken to murdering other travelers for fun. Probably not going to start murdering in cities until I'm stealthy enough to get away with it.

One of my characters is a Nord witch called Scarlett Snow.
Pure magic mage focusing on destruction, illusion, alteration, alchemy and enchanting.

She doesn't do alot of quests. Only the ones that she thinks are worth her time and attention. She only cares about power and magic so she joined the storm cloaks and the college and she wields the black star. She lives out of a small hut between riverwood, the standing stones and bleak falls barrow. The corpse of the previous owner still sits on the chair outside.
Anybody else have a murderer or psychotic character?

Not quite that extreme, but yes, I have a character that joined the dark brotherhood, and one of my favorite kills was against the obnoxious preacher in Whiterun. Unfortunately I couldn't do it in broad daylight from behind his own house, it would've been nice to leave his arrow riddled body crumpled in a heap underneath the Gildergreen and in front of the shrine. But alas, no I had to sneak into his house at night and quietly slit his throat. I did however go to the trouble of sitting him up against the wall in his house to greet anyone who goes in. I did still however become the Thane of Whiterun, and after a brief conversation with the Thieves Guild, I decided that they are all wussy thugs, and decided to become Thane of Riften. Before I finish the game with that character I will make sure to eliminate anyone associated with the guild. Thieves are just half assed assassins.

You are the kind of person that forced Beth to make kids immortal.
And there's a mod for that, it's very satisfying.

I am making a necromancer type character, but I haven't gotten too far with it. I thought it could be interesting from a RP standpoint. I want to play him as a the outcast mage who has delved too far into the black arts. I want him to lead a dual life where he is nice and pleasant to avoid suspicion, but down in the basemant he keeps a room full of corpses. It is necromancy after all. I plan to model it combat wise after the necromancers you see in game, with frost spells and just raise dead, no summoning daedra.

For me, I think it's kind of interesting to think what would motivate a character like that. Even evil people don't do things just for the sake of evil, they justify what they're doing for whatever purpose that might be. I tend to put a roleplay slant on these games, but so far I haven't made an "evil" character in skyrim. Lawbreakers, yea, but not evil. That character I will save for the DB questline.

The Stormtrooper/Ninja Effect. The more evil the character is, the worse they get. The more of them there are, the more terrible they are.

"Hey, Bill, you know that Emperor guy?"
"Yeah?"
"Ever since he took power, my aim's gone to [censored]."
"And Dave got shot in the foot and died."
"The hell? He got his arm ripped off by a droid when the Jedi were around."
"I know, man."

And if there are 20 ninjas, they'll get their asses smacked around by ONE lone warrior, because they all attack one at a time.

"Alright, welcome to Evil Ninja Academy. First lesson: Circle around the lone warrior, making menacing poses and swinging your swords around. BUT DON'T ATTACK."
"Whuh?"
"Yes, only one of you should attack at a time. When that first one is inevitably killed, the one who's circling closest to the warrior should then attack."
"[censored] this. I'm going home."
LOL thanks for the laugh.

You know, it's funny you mention necrophilia...

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Falanu_Hlaalu

One of the greatest Oblivion moments ever. Too bad that the developers forgot half-way through what they wanted with her as the townfolk's rumor states he's somewhat creepy, wandering around the graveyard with a smile on his face. Wish there was a romance option like her. :< Anyways, I might remake Falanu in Skyrim, go on a killing spree then teabag the corpses just to be a total assh*le. Maybe with the Creation Kit there could be animations made where your character can have a creepy facial expression 24/7 and stare into people's eyes, performing an instant soul svcking. :tops:

Muehehe! This Scarlett Snow sounds like my kind of a gal. I haven't started a particularly wicked character in Skyrim, though my most beloved Oblivion character was a Nord serial killer. Though he never went on a killing spree being a serial killer and all. He just done the typical serial killer stuff - stalk a particular type of npc and murder them in some dark alley or in their homes. Other than that he was a model citizen of course.
My current Breton wizard in Skyrim is basically a machiavellian bastard ("the end justifies the means"), but he's no murderer. My second character however will be a reincarnation of my beloved Nord killer.
Funny thing is I never play your regular goody good do-gooder character if I have the choice in RPGs, my character are neutral at best... I guess I'm compensating for the fact that in RL I'm such a freaking nice guy, heh. Anyway, nice to know that other people are also as... ehm, "creative" as me when role-playing, heh. Best wishes to your lovely witch
